After a little surfing it seems that

Anyhow, it seems that a 21 day free trial is available so I downloaded the installer ...
oi_1avinstTCexe.exe

As soon as I tried to run it, the program was blocked with a "this is a trojan" warning.

Suspecting a false positive, I sent
oi_1avinstTCexe.exe
to VirusTotal & got a 5 out of 43 detection ratio.

Concluding,
(1) is it safe to install 1AV products?

Alex Ferri 1AVInstTCexe.exe is not the package distributed by the company. It must be an installer that was tempered with. The installer here distributed is 100% free of virus and trojans.

Software Guy I could not find this information on the website in the description - so here is my question - Can we take automated timed snapshots (jpg saves) of the screen, say once every 5 seconds or so? Thanks!

Alex Ferri No. Not on 1AVCapture. 1AVStreamer has that ability. 1AVCapture does not. 1AVCapture can however create timed recorded files.

Alex Ferri Yes,. On 1AVStreamer you will find a publishing mode which is to upload images via FTP to a web server. Uploading is optional. You can simply have the images being captured on regular intervals as you require.
