Peter Kankowski Sorry, not yet. As I said previously, it will take a lot of time to implement this feature.

Stew Cam This is a really handy little search and replace utility. I have some other more high powered programs for search and replace, but this is great for quick processing of text based files in a directory . It starts quickly and has a very easy to use interface. It would be better if it stored recent search requests. Also, it struggles with a high volume of hits. SoftCollector, if you want to search Office docs, have a look at FileLocator Pro.

Peter Kankowski Stew, thank you for the kind words about the program. You probably use an old version, because storing the recent search requests is implemented in the current version. You can upgrade for free: download and install the new version from http://www.abareplace.com. Then press the small button with downward arrow (to the right of the "Search for" field) to see the list of search requests.

If you need to find a large number of hits, please increase the limit in Options. The limit is introduced to avoid overloading your computer. Aba immediately tries to find the text as you are typing it. If you have entered just the first letter, it will be found in a lot of documents, so the list will take too much memory. To avoid this problem, I added the limit that can be increased if you have a fast PC.

Amit Was looking for such software - However I have some queries -

1) Can it also be used as a regular file search software too - like copernic ? To be used as a FOLDERS AND FILES search tool as well - not just content ?

2) Can it be used to scan .rtf and likewise similar files too - not talking bout ms office documents - but only rtf etc.

3) Can it also search inside ebooks - formats like kindle .awz, .epub for eg.

4) If a file has a large no. of occurences of the keyword that is searched - will all (say unlimited) be shown inside the aba window - or it has limit on shown matches INSIDE EACH FILE too ?

thanks.

Peter Kankowski Hello, Amit,

1) unfortunately, no, it cannot be used to look in the file names.

2) Yes, you can search in RTF, HTML, and other text-based formats. You can download Aba for free and try it on your files.

Peter Kankowski Dear Mr. Robinson,

I'm very sorry for inconvenience. The free email addresses are blocked because most fraudulent orders come from them. It's a usual practice; see http://www.mklink.com/new..._2008.html for example.

If you don't have an email account from your ISP, please contact me privately at http://www.abareplace.com/support/ and provide your email address; I will personally allow it.

Sorry again for the trouble.

Peter.

VLM Is PDF support planned?

Is Directory Opus support planned?
Nov 7 2012 at 5:04am Copy Link

Peter Kankowski Unfortunately, PDF support is not planned, because it would be too complex or expensive to implement.

You can integrate Aba with Directory Opus. In Directory Opus, go to "Settings - Customize Toolbars - User-defined Commands - Add new user command" and browse for the Aba executable file, then type {sourcepath} after it. Fill other fields like on this screenshot: http://www.abareplace.com/docs/dopus.png Then drag the user-defined command on a toolbar or assign it a hotkey.

Michael R. Can I use all the functionality via command line parameters?
If yes, how?
I can't find a description about them in the html-help on your website...

Peter Kankowski Amit, please find my reply above.

Michael, you can pass one parameter, the path to the folder to search in. In the next version, I'm planning to expose all the functionality via command-line parameters.
