I am wanting to purchase Disk Director Suite 10 and replace PowerQuest PartitionMagic 8.0. Do I need to remove all of the files and directories that PartitionMagic created, or does Disk Director Suite read some of these files.
Hello. Thank you for your interest in our software. Unfortunately Disk Director is not compatible with files/folder created by another disk management tools.
I have a Dell XPS with Windows XP MCE. Two drives are set up a a high perfromance 320GB RAID. What is the best way to convert those to a standard, single larger HD (say, 750GB)? Would Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 be useful?
C Nevius, Sounds like all you would need to do is remove your old program after you install the new one and that will get rid of your old one. Once a hard drive is partitioned you can use any partition program to change it as needed. Always back up your data first. Randy
This is a dead product, that has known problems. In April 2008 the company acknowledged that Acronis Disk Director Suite 10 does not work correctly with non-English Windows Vista. (My contact was Nadezhda Averyanova.) The build at this time was #2160, which is the exact same build that is yet offered today in the "Product Update" section of the web site. Never, ever any solution was published, yet I was asked to close my support request as "fully resolved to your complete satisfaction". Do yourself a favor and keep you hands off this product.
I have to agree with Ulrich Peters. I used this on a computer with XP and it was fine. I could never get it to work right on Vista and the two times I tried it thoroughly screwed up my computer. Luckily I had an emergency boot disc or I would have had to reinstall Windows. After more than a year without an update I gave up completely on this. The last update was March 2007 which supposedly made it Vista compatible but did not, at least for me. There are other products such as Easus Partition read moreMaster, which has a good, free version. If Acronis doesn't work on Vista and hasn't been updated for so long, I can't imagine there will be an update for Windows 7.
Count this as another warning against using this product. I've owned a license for several years, but it is only good for XP! I too learned the hard way that Disk Director does not support Vista--ask yourself, is it worth risking your data? Personally, I won't let it near a Windows7 installation after it destroyed my Vista disk (Win7 is built on the same code base as Vista. You'll notice Vista's version # is 6.0, while Win7's official version # is 6.1.) And it's worth noting, as Ulrich read moreand Nick point out, no updates or changes have been made since Build 2160 was released in March 2007, a full two and a half years ago. This program is abandonware.
