All My Books

Who Needs Dewey Decimal?

All My Books
Tools & Utilities

Book lovers, this one's for you.

I know what it's like to have more books than you know what to do with. If you're like me, you used to keep a small stack of reading material by your bedside, and as you've moved up through bigger spaces (dorm to apartment to condo to house), your collection has kept pace. You now have a veritable library of literary goodness.

If only you had an automated system for keeping track of your collection, you'd be able to recall the fact that you own every single Orson Scott Card book ever written. Or the fact that your friends have borrowed half of them...

All My Books will organize your collection in a flash. By simply entering the title of each book, the author's name, or the ISBN code, All My Books will instantly fetch a wealth of information about that book from it's extensive array of internet resources.

Everything is there - synopses, reviews, binding types, number of pages, even an image of the book's cover. And if you've already made some attempts at organizing your literary mountain, it gets better: All My Books can also import your book list from any text or spreadsheet file.

After the fun of entering your books into the system has ended, the real fun of analyzing your collection begins! You can search for titles, sort by fields, and calculate statistics about your collection - like the fact that over 80% of your books are about zombies! Who knew? Now, you do! Your friends will be amazed!

Even better, All My Books lets you export your entire digital library to text, CHM, Excel, and even HTML and mobile devices.

Written by Derek Lee

All My Books lets you:

  • Create a digital database containing every book in your collection, including cover images, plot synopses, author bios, and reviews.
  • Search your collection using specific fields (genre, author, for example) as criteria.
  • Analyze your library: All My Books can tell you how many books by a specific author you have, how many titles in a given genre, and more.
  • Keep tabs on which titles have been borrowed by friends with the book sharing manager.
  • Import your existing book list in text or spreadsheet format.
  • Export your digital library to text, CHM, HTML, Excel and HTML formats.
  • Password-protect your digital book database.

Who Needs All My Books?
You do if you've ever:

  • Bought so many books that you end up re-purchasing something that you already own.
  • Forgotten which friend borrowed a book from your collection, and how long they've had it.
  • Wondered just how many books you have in your library.
  • Wanted to know more about the books that you own and the authors that wrote them.

Real Users Say:

  • “I have a large collection of book of all sorts from fiction to guides and tutorial books. This is a great piece of software to help keep track of what I’ve got and very easy to enter the titles. As long as you put in the name of the book then hit the search icon, it will look up all the details for you. I tried it first with a SQL reference book thats a good few years old and it was listed in the database! How cool is that?”- Lee
  • “I have over a thousand books in my library and have been typing them into a Word file for years. Because I organize them in sections, the numbers constantly get confused; I try to fix them manually, then give up. This software is PERFECT for me. THANK YOU!”- Anna
  • “This is SWEET! I’ve never messed with Book Organizers before simply because I’m WAY too lazy to do that much data entry. This program solves that problem wonderfully. Both title search and ISBN search work great on the Amazon database - I love that ALL the info gets added automatically, including cover art. I really like that the book’s web page is kept as part of the record. And it’s great to be able to view the books grouped by Author or Book Type or Subject or any other database field (though they probably should have listed that function under the View menu instead of having to click a field to discover it.)”- dbear
  • “This is a wonderful piece of software and logical, too. By using the ISBN look-up feature (choosing carefully the source, for English the best is Amazon), you can automatically download information and cover art. The trick is to “Add Book”, then plug in the ISBN number in the correct line and click on the little icon on the right of that line. If first you right click you can choose the source for the lookup. So far I’ve put in 118 books in a couple hours; figure a minute a book. Try doing that by hand (and scanning the cover).”- BillDee

I started to buy using Payal, but then found there was an added GBP2.47. I went back to the first page of the checkout process to see what this was and saw it was a "manual processing fee".

What is that and why is it in addition to the advertised price?

Previously I had not provided street address info, as this is not needed for PayPal, so I thought maybe that's why there was a manual processing fee so I added the street address and clicked continue.

Then it told me my transaction was complete.

But I haven't gone through the PayPal part of the transaction yet.

I want the product, but I will only pay the advertised amount.

    Regards,
    Roy Grubb

    Hi Roy!

As far as I know, our payment processing partner SWREG adds the manual processing fee to each PayPal order. It is their rules, we can't change them, sorry. There is no fee if you'll pay by credit card.

I recently bought Movie collector s/w from Collectorz.com offered here at Bits and very happy with its features and ease of use by entering just the bar code. Check it out and compare features to All My Books and All my movies.

    Question:

In regard to printing a list of all books shown in one's personal library, is it possible to print a list of books with each author's name shown "one time only" followed by a list of that author's book?.

I bought All My Books and so did a friend of mine. We are both in love with it. We are cookbook collectors and keep many 'books' in our computers using Mastercook recipe software. We point All My Books at our various files, it then goes and looks online for a match...we add info if that's called for right there on the info grabbed window...and store...and the beauty of that is: the program allows us to also store a link back to the 'book' and set it to open that book when we click on the little book icon that the program has.

I have BookCat (which is very sophisticated and I have 3000+ real books stored on it) and I have Collectorz, and a few others. But now, I am nutty about this simple, intuitive but multi-featured All My Books and recommend it highly to all. I don't know about uses that are highly complicated (mine aren't)... I have seen many discussions online from people who store fiction or non-fiction book data and take it to degrees and places I could never have the patience to go with it. I know BookCat is about the best I've ever seen for that kind of thing... but for what I do and the info required for cookbooks (real or ebook) this seems plenty and also has some cool features the others don't!
For instance: On the main 'recipe card' there is an icon (drawing of a book) and there is also a link to the website where the info was obtained (like Amazon).
The book icon means: open me to where you've pointed it..in my case, my C: Mastercook file, e.g. Cooking Light, 1998. (It opens the ebook when I click on that). These two little features are not available on other programs...not on the main screen image, anyway. (In other programs, if you have these features at all, they are buried inside tabs often...gotta go searching.) There are so many delights with AMB. I could say more but I bet there isn't enuf space.

    - Does your software automatically download summaries from the internet and add them to the registry of each particular book?

    - Does it have the option to upload books you want to sell to book selling sites?
