Face it, some of your favorite LP records and cassettes just weren't popular enough to make it into the digital age. You scoured the internet, put up Wanted postings, and still nothing! But you do have the actual vinyl records...for as long as they last.

It's not enough, though, just to convert your old LP tracks to digital format -- you have to clean up all of that noise before burning your tracks to CD! That's what AudioLava does, and the way it does it will be music to your ears!

AudioLava is your ideal solution for restoring and recording high quality audio from LP to CD. By implementing the latest in noise reduction algorithms, AudioLava can eliminate tape hiss, clicks, and crackle on LP records! You'll love the intuitive Cleaning Wizard, which takes you by the hand and guides you through every step of your digital conversion, from recording and track splitting to restoration and CD burning. You'll be astounded when you hear your old tracks at a level of fidelity that's unheard of!

No complicated hardware here -- just record and playback your tracks using any windows compatible audio device. Automatic track splitting means never having to make manual cuts! Plus, AudioLava gives you control over all of the bells and whistles. Utilize presets, apply fade-in and fade-out, implement special audio effects, and take full advantage of the channel mixer, and parametric equalizer!

AudioLava imports all sorts of audio file formats, such as OGG, WAV, WMA, MP3, AU, and AIFF, and can even import the audio from video files in the MPEG, WMV, and AVI formats! Once you've cleared up all of that noise, use AudioLava to create your own ready-to-play audio CDs!

VLM I realize that this is outside the scope a bit, but does anyone recommend a piece of hardware for "playing" cassettes and transferring them into a computer? Or will any old player work fine, as long as it has output?

Brian H Hi- this looks like a very interesting program! Will the "Premium Edition" also be available for purchase? Also, from what I read here and on the product website, it doesn't look like there is currently any import/export support for AAC format (m4a; m4b) files. Is this the case? If so, any chance this format will be supported in future editions/upgrades? Thanks. -Brian

John H I have a large collection of Classical on vinyl. ...

The controls and adjustments are very extensive. Is there an automatic mode for this program?

The records are in very good shape. Would purchasing the pro version be of any benefit like maybe increasing the dynamic range?

John H From the License Agreement on the trial program:

You may:
- use the SOFTWARE on any single computer;
- use the SOFTWARE on a second computer so long as the primary user of each copy is the same person and more than one copy is not used simultaneously;
- copy the SOFTWARE for archival purposes, provided any copy contains all of the original SOFTWARE's proprietary notices.
- You agree to be the Towel Boy in the Acon Executive Lounge.

Just kidding about that last line. It's a joke from Dilbert about not reading the EULAs.

Stian Aagedal Thanks for the interest!

@VLM: In most cases, a normal cassette player will do the trick. Simply connect the output of the cassette player to the input jack of your sound card.

@Brian: Unfortunately, there currently no support for AAC in AudioLava. At the time being, it is not decided whether or not we will include AAC support in version 2.

@John: There is not completely automatic mode, but the denoising is semi-automatic (noise profile automatically estimated) and there are in fact only four sliders with the level of denoising, declicking, decrackling and declipping. The premium version gives more control over the restoration process and you would probably be able to achieve better results, but that would also require more parameter tweaking.

VLM Hi, I'm interested, but I cannot get this purchase through Avangate, and I've had trouble with them repeatedly, and their customer service never follows through. So I'm not willing to invest time in them. If you wish, please send me something that will enable me to buy directly from you, and I will be delighted. NOTE: We pay by cash or postal money order or PayNearMe or the like ... not by electronic means.

Phred E @VLM Yes, as Stian says, a good cassette player* will do for this, but you can easily generate hum between connected components. An earth loop is formed if the power supply for each device is too distant or on separate circuits. You need to hook a simple wire from ground points on the devices - the case of a PC, for instance - and you will be able to minimise the problem.
For the hum remaining Audacity has a noise sampling function - you take a sample during 'silence' - and apply it to the noise reduction algorithm for the rest of the recording. It's worth practising.
*remember, you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear: the best quality you get will depend on the quality you first get off the source material; everything else is tweaking and cleaning up.

Nico Westerdale VLM, We have a great relationship with Avangate and I've personally met several people from there at various conferences. I'm really surprised you've had issues with their customer service, I'd encourage you to go ahead and if there is a problem let us know and I'll escalate it for you.

Bob Horton Is there a deal available on the premium version? I already own comparable SW to the standard version, but am interested in the premium version at the right price!

VLM Nico, thank you for your kind message. Really!! I appreciate it very much.

I can't get past an empty shopping cart. I've done the cookie thing. I've restarted Firefox. I've tried IE.

I've had 2 other BDJ purchases that never were completed using Avangate. Both involved using PayNearMe, where the end process would never complete properly. PayNearMe says it's a "vendor problem". Avangate says it's a PayNearMe problem. I say that after investing a couple hours on the phone with them, it's their problem, whoever "their" may be.

I have a granddaughter to care for. More important, more timely.

I have classes to teach and such. More important, more timely.

USW. (Etc.)

In contrast, I NEVER have a problem with FastSpring. Or RegNow (or anything Digital River). Or Plimus. Or ... probably others I'm not thinking of right now.

Honestly, it's not the problems, per se, that bother me, I'm most willing to work through problems. But I need the party on the other end to be competent as well as polite. So far, more polite than competent, and it seems abundantly clear that nothing ever gets escalated from a customer inquiry at Avangate.

If you have a way in to someone who can fix the problem, I'll be ecstatic.

Really!!! :):):)

But from my vantage point, I just don't know where to go with it.

Once again, thank you VERY much for taking an interest, I appreciate that very much.
