The license allows for two installations per home user. So for example if you purchased a one user license you would be able to install it on a desktop machine and a laptop.

Genie au Travail As a home user I update my hardware frequently and the registration process is based on a hardware footprint...
Also the registration isn't managable for a home user like me.

Dan Palmer We understand the need for reinstalls as the effect this has on our licensing system.

Our support staff are always on hand to reset and license key that has reached it's limit. All actiavations are logged so we can see if a license key is being abused etc and are more than happy to reset liecense keys that are being used correctly.

Tom Chatterton I have a problem with the license as a home user myself. It says that I can install the program on two computers at the same time, yet should I use the program on both computers at the same time, I lose my license. Should I purchase I would be installing on both my main PC desktop and on my laptop. I frequently use both at the same time - as I'm sure many people do. I've had this trouble before because of the same reason. Why is your licensing any different?

You can install on two computers (Desktop and Laptop as you say) and if you want you can use them at the same time, it won't come up with any licensing issues.

Tom Chatterton That wasn't clear in the licensing. IT said that uses could only use one instance at a time. Being about to run both laptop & PC simultaneously makes a big difference. Thank you for clearing this up, Dan.

Peter Bright I have just bought Caller IP Advanced however it depends on a Java download to work.

I did not know this program was Java dependent.

Java NEVER downloads successfully on my computer and so my Caller IP Advanced program cannot work.

How do I lodge a claim for a refund?

I just installed the demo on a plain machine.
I am sorry to say that but IMHO it is a huge FAIL and a sign of bad quality and security awareness to install (systemwide!!) Java jre1.5.0_01 (actual version: 1.6.0_30!!!).

You really need to think over your approach to (customers!!!) security.
Much easier and safer: Build your own local environment. Just copy the needed files in your own directory and use these.

I purchased CallerIP professional (version 4) last year and at present, the linked CallerIP product page only shows a comparison between CallerIP and CallerIP Advanced. Does any know if CallerIP professional was discontinued and/or the differences between CallerIP professional and CallerIP Advanced.

Unrelated, I cannot readily locate the software version on this page, screen shot or on the Visualware CallerIP product or download pages. If someone that has installed the trail and/or purchased the software from bitsdujour could identify the version, it would be appreciated.

CallerIP Advanced is the same as CallerIP Professional. The name was changed.

The download on http://www.callerippro.com/download.html will work with any license key purchased during this promotion.

We don't have time to repacakge CallerIP now but it will only attempt to install Java if Java is not already installed.

The best practice is to install the latest Java from http://www.java.com before running the installer for CallerIP.

barney Barnes I like the concept behind this program, but I don't trust, nor do I buy, any software that is tied to a hardware footprint. It's bad enough when your OS is assigned in this manner. Casual 3rd party software should never be. Too many of us have multiple machines. It's bad enough when software is tied to an email address, which can be quite ephemeral. But if I have to call a help desk every time I make a [frequent] hardware change, that is onerous beyond need. Such restrictions far outweigh any benefit the software might convey. I also find the Java element disturbing, but that's a personal thing, not necessarily relevant to other, rather obvious, issues. I'd really like to try the software, but the usage constraints obviate that desire.

All minor upgrades are free, for example 4.0d to 4.0e would be free. When CallerIP v5.0a comes out that would require a purchased upgrade. Previous customers are entitled to 40% off major version upgrade.

I realise that the promotion expired 4hrs 10mins ago but my 2 cents worth are:

From my point of view the only problem with the program was the restrictive hardware footprint for a home user (or even a household family) who might happen to own/use more than 1Desktop & 1Notebook or 2Desktops/2Notebooks that never leave the house.

In all likelyhood even if the program was installed on say 4 or 5 family or home use computers, the chances that the program would be in active use (requiring the user's attention and responces) on more than 1 computer at are time are pretty slim (i.m.h.o.).

I would really appreciate your thoughts on the matter - even if it's just privately to my email which you'll have access too. From actively following 'BdJ' over the last 3 or so years, many Bitsdujour followers (at least those who post comments) loath activation, but the ''limited hardware footprint'' is the thing that really ''pushes their buttons'' (gets them aggravated) as a Bitsdujour follower is somebody who is happy to pay for a license - albeit at a discount, unlike those people who lurks in the 'net shadows & use key-generators, crackz and other ill-gotten software.
