ClipCache Pro
$29.95

Platforms: Windows XP, Vista (32 and 64 bit), 7 (32 and 64 bit)

Please note folks, a ClipCache Pro license allows the use of both the portable and single-user versions. Now that's a good deal!

We make no secret over here of our general dissatisfaction with the Windows Clipboard. After all, it's dumbed down the potential of the PC clipboard to the point that 99% of the people out there don't even consider the possibilities beyond Ctrl-C.

But all is not lost! ClipCache Pro takes the Windows clipboard and makes it relevant again. For starters, it used to be that you could only store one item on the Windows clipboard (Ok, 12 with the "new & improved" Windows clipboard). With ClipCache Pro there are no limits. That's right, you can cut, copy, and paste without fear of ever overwriting data already on your clipboard.

Once installed, ClipCache Pro runs silently (and efficiently) in the background. All clipboard activity is saved by ClipCache Pro and organized into folders. You can edit or merge text entries on the spot or perform advanced searches through the history archives. The folder implementation is flawless - you can preview clips, drag and drop clips between folders and applications, and even set limits on the number of items in each folder, so once that cap is reached, ClipCache Pro will delete the oldest clips to make room for more! Navigation is intuitive, allowing you to move forward and backward in folder browser history with ease.

Using ClipCache to do serious research? You're in luck! ClipCache now reliably records the source of your clips by capturing and storing the name of the source window!

How about this? ClipCache also features extensive text cleanup features. You know those infuriating emails filled up with ">>>>>" indentation markers? All you need to do is copy the offending message into ClipCache, and it'll remove all those arrows in a flash! But stripping email indents is only the beginning. ClipCache's cleanup function can also:

  • Remove leading spaces and tabs
  • Remove trailing spaces
  • Remove duplicate lines
  • Remove linebreaks
  • Remove empty lines
  • Strip HTML tags
  • Decode URL encoded text...
  • ...and much more. You can even create custom cleaning routines!

Even pasting is improved in ClipCache Pro! You can assign specific clips to hotkeys, for instant one-press pasting whenever you need it. PowerPaste performs a series of pastes of consecutive clips from a folder into the active application - great for filling out forms online. Enable Clipboard Routing, and everything that you copy to the clipboard is automatically pasted into another application.

The best part? ClipCache Pro is also available as a portable archive, small enough to fit on a portable USB flash drive so you can carry your clips with you wherever you go!

The latest and greatest version of ClipCache Pro comes on board with many performance enhancements, including support for Microsoft Vista's clipboard listener - ClipCache Pro brings the era of broken clipboard chains to an end!

You can get ClipCache Pro with the following license types:
ClipCache Pro Single User ($29.95)
ClipCache Pro Family Pack (5 computers) ($59.95)
ClipCache Pro Portable ($29.95)

Garrett Goyette SERIOUSLY...THE MOST USED PROGRAM ON MY DESKTOP. !
I bought the 5 user pack last go around. i use ClipCache to capture and record webpages as i surf. Then i go back later in the day or work to create folders and group and organize the clips i want. Way faster and more thorough than bookmarking which since it captures the URL is bookmarking already. In a way for the serious web researcher it replaces or enhances the use of Evernote and similar web based clickers mostly because saving a page is nearly instant in every situations whereas Evernote or hefty Ultrarecall can take as long as 30 seconds to respond. FORGET THAT. amzing how a sophisticated low price Clipboard monitor can work better than $100 info managers, phrase and text expanders. THIS IS A MUST HAVE UTILITY

Genie au Travail I agree with Garett.

One of the best software that I have ever purchased !

Kelly Hamblin I signed up here just to comment on this application. I've used ClipCache Pro for the last years and love it. It's the best clipboard manager on the planet.

I write, therefore, I research. I copy/paste loads of pertinent information from the web. More importantly, I never lose all those pages and chapters that I've decided to trade out. While working, I leave the delete button alone and switch to CNTRL+X. Nothing is ever lost, and because ClipCache records the source, I can find anything again by running a search.

Most clipboard managers limit their storage, but I have unlimited space with ClipCache. Because of that, I use the app to file program design allows me be creative with how I use it and do use it for storage.

I sound like an advertiser. I'm not. I just appreciate this wonderful, useful program and wanted to say so.

Software Guy ClipCache is an excellent clipboard program. And the 5 computer license is a very good deal. Like the users above, I recommend it highly.
Mar 4 at 11:27am
Bertie Brummel Using this software since 2001 (family license now) I can really recommend it like the posters before me. The software has been developed over all the years and the vendor always was responsive in the very few cases where I needed support. Go and get it! You'll not regret.
Mar 6 at 12:37am
Michael Guilfoyle Awesome software!. Get it.

Mar 6 at 3:13am
John Williams Thanks for the positive comments guys. I appreciate it when you take time to post positive reviews and it's always great to hear how useful you find ClipCache.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:42am
John Williams Chris and Yiannis, there is a 64 bit build that is automatically installed. It's a unified installer with both 32 and 64 bit builds. It should work fine with Windows 8 too.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:44am
David Paul This was a software on which I depended heavily when I was using XP. It was one of my "must have" utilities. However, over time, database corruption and the lack of a flexible export function made me regretfully switch to other alternatives.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to export clips to CSV? If not, would the author consider including this feature in future versions? CSV export would be the icing on the cake, one feature which I've become accustomed to having in other clipboard managers.

Thanks.
Mar 6 at 4:57am
Clive Taylor I've tried to buy a licence at $14,98 but your store doesn't mention a discount and says "Register ClipCache Pro now with your credit card for just 19.95 GBP".
Mar 6 at 5:18am
Mitchell Kastner I would lead a crusade to defend CliipCache Pro's honor. "Must have" "go to" and "indispensable" don't cut it. It is a matter of life and death for me as a writer/researcher. And I feel this way and I have not devoted the time necessary to master all of the program's features.

I do however have two wish-list requests, and I have not a clue how difficult it would be to implement them in the program even if John thought they were worthwhile:

I would like ClipCache to remove linebreaks automatically once the selected text was copied to the cllipboard and I would like to tag the itmes copied to the clipboard and then be able to search on those tags.

I also have a tech support question. Whereas cintanotes does copy the name of the pdf file as the title of each clip, ClipCache in my experience does not. What if anything can I do to make that happen?

It is a travesty to be able to purchase this life-saver for the price it is being offered. Beg borrow and steal the money to pay for this marvel.
Mar 6 at 6:31am
carl thorpe I purchased this program the last time it was offered here on Bits. It is one of the better clipboard managers I have found.

However there are two issues that make me hesitant to recommend this wholeheartedly.

#1 - I submitted a support request through the developer's website on February 8th and never received a response. The issue is that I cannot past clips to Skype, as they turn into random Asian characters.

#2 - The most recent version of the program was released on December 19th, 2011. Is the program still under development?
Mar 6 at 6:46am
Brad Perrault This is great software, the one piece of software I use everyday.

Simple to run, low resource overhead. Ctrl-Alt-S launches the program in an instant. My entire clipboard is available for the last year or longer readily available at my finger tips for quick pasting.

My favorite is the text cleanup you perform in a couple simple keystrokes to remove program specific formatting from copied text. Favorite clips are instantly brought to the screen with Alt-S.

Keyboard shortcuts combinations can be modified to customize your way of working. Extremely flexible and powerful. It's well worth $14.98.

Enjoy
Mar 6 at 7:59am
John Williams David, I'm not sure of the version you were using. The database in version 3 is completely different than previous versions and extremely robust.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 8:36am
John Williams Clive, I used the buy link on this site and it showed the correct discount. Send me an email if it persists.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 8:44am
Joe McCormick Am I reading your user license correctly?
The way I understand it is that I can install this program on multiple computers in my home under one license as long as I am the only one using the program?
Mar 6 at 8:48am
John Williams Carl, ClipCache it's still under development. I have been so busy with LinkStash 3 that I have not had enough time to devote to ClipCache. LinkStash is now complete so I can focus on ClipCache features and fixes.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 8:49am
Scott Youngman I've been using ClipCache since 1998, and can't imagine working without it. My only regret is that I don't need another copy, so I can't take advantage of this outstanding BdJ offer ;^) Well worth it even at the normal price.
Mar 6 at 8:55am
Alexander Deliyannis John, nice to hear about the new LinkStash :-) It's another gem of a program I've been using for years.
Mar 6 at 12:26pm
Garrett Goyette Wish List: Export to CSV and XML would be extemely useful and would allow me to .

ClipMate7 has this feature but i find clipcache a bit more reliable and faster in opening plus the no limit on clips out of the box is unbeatable I run both programs simultaneously but find ClipCache is my go to when i want to create folders and reorganize my clips simply simpler and more reliable

Also Clicache is a better deal CM7 is $35 for single user 2 machines
also, i love Mitchels idea to be abe to have a Tag field, infact even a drop down list of TAGS to select from ( therefore a way to import lists of predefined TAGs to add. This would make CC an even better research tool.

Terence Conroy Hi John,

Quote from above: "a ClipCache Pro license allows the use of both the portable and single-user versions"

I want to buy the family 5 pack. Can I download ClipCache Pro Portable and how many USB's can I use it on?

Will ClipCache Pro still be available at this price on 03/06-07/2013?

Thank you.
Mar 6 at 1:24pm
Scott Kettman I dumped Clipmate 7 because it had become so unreliable and certain features stopped working in Windows 7. I bought ClipCache the last time it was here and it has been fantastic. I'm so happy with it I'm going to buy the family license this go around.

Long time user of LinkStash (since version 1) I am really looking forward to ver 3. Any idea when it will be available?
Mar 6 at 3:07pm
John Williams Scott K, LinkStash 3 release is imminent, it's a matter of days now. Thanks for the positive feedback.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:29pm
John Williams Joe, yes that's right. You must be the only user and it can't be running on the different machines simultaneously.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:33pm
John Williams Michell, you'll be happy to know tags is on the list for the next major release of ClipCache. When you copy the text from a PDF the title of the PDF file should actually appear in the Window Title column in ClipCache. The name of the clip is taken from the first part of the text copied but there is no option to customise the clip name when copying text, other than the name length.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:38pm
John Williams Terence, if buying the Family Pack you can download portable instead of the desktop installer if you wish. It's good for 5 household users too. I'm not sure if will be appear here on the date you mention. Contact me if it's not.
XRayz Software - Mar 6 at 3:42pm
Gray Lox Oh wait... I'm a bit slow at 3 AM, just bought ClipCache and downloaded it.
Now I read this article again and don't know if I understand it correct:

**Please note folks, a ClipCache Pro license allows the use of both the portable and single-user versions. Now that's a good deal!**

Does this mean, I can download and use both versions with one license?
Mar 6 at 6:16pm
carl thorpe John,

any response on my support ticket from more than a month ago that has not been answered?

Seriously, this program is great... I just want to know the there is support behind it.

Carl
Mar 6 at 6:27pm
David Paul John,

Thanks for the assurance that the new database is more robust. My other main concern and requirement would be "Export to CSV" and/or XML as another poster has also requested above. Would that be on the roadmap as well?

I would really appreciate an answer to this. Thanks.
Mar 6 at 8:23pm
John Williams Gray, yes you can use both portable and desktop installer with the one single-user license.
XRayz Software - Mar 7 at 2:39am
Gray Lox WOW - that's what I call a good deal :)

Thanks!
Mar 7 at 2:47am
Danny ClipMate 7 can also Clip Cache everything equal Pro! Difference is: Clipmate 7 has a Lifetime Free Upgrades License and Clip Cache Pro not!
Mar 7 at 6:24am
John Williams Danny, there is a problem with lifetime upgrades. The author will lose incentive to provide updates. Maybe that is already happening with CM? I am working hard on updates.
XRayz Software - Mar 7 at 7:02am
Danny @John Williams,

Thanks for your quick reply! Do you have a point there! So I have not watched yet :-)
Mar 7 at 7:07am
John Williams Carl, I did read the support ticket and verified the bug when I first received it. I've not had time to research a fix so didn't reply, especially with working on LinkStash 3. Apologies. I will get an update to you. Be assured support is provided for all products.
XRayz Software - Mar 7 at 7:13am
Danny But how do I screen capture? Tricky to find!
Mar 7 at 8:35am
Terence Conroy Hi John,
I just clicked on the link to buy the family pack. A window pops up showing the family pack at 29.98 but then it takes you to a checkout page that shows the price a 59.98. I guess this deal is over for now.
Mar 7 at 3:36pm
David Paul John,

I had hoped to receive an answer to my query above regarding the possibility of including an Export to CSV/XML feature in a future version of Clipcache Pro before making a purchase decision as my workflow is highly dependent on the frequent usage of exported data.

Would you please respond to my question?

Thank you.
Mar 7 at 4:43pm
John Williams Danny, to capture the screen press the PrintScreen key, or if you want to capture the active window use Alt+PrintScreen,
XRayz Software - Mar 8 at 4:59am
John Williams Terence, are you clicking the Buy button on this BDJ website? Be quick and you will get it at 50% discount. The offer is only available though BDJ.
XRayz Software - Mar 8 at 5:07am
John Williams David, I can confirm that export to CSV file is on the todo list and will be in the next major update.
XRayz Software - Mar 8 at 5:09am
Danny @John Williams,

Okay, that's then did it! But not satisfactory: There is every time like a flashable full screen, I had the opportunity to certain selected screen (pruned) want to save a website. That possibility has ClipMate 7 though and is also very easy to use! What do you mean no recent update to ClipMate 7???
Mar 8 at 7:29am
Joe McCormick Danny.
ClipMate 7 has a new update as of 03/01/2013.
Mar 8 at 8:24am
Danny @Joe McCormick,

I know! I have a license of ClipMate 7! Have now a few days Clip cache Pro tested. Conclusion: it is not as user friendly, and I missing some features like screen capture with selection possibilities that ClipMate 7 though!! Therefore, I understand the many comments here not that claim ClipMate 7 seems to be neglected, and Clip Cache Pro is it heaven!
Mar 8 at 8:39am
Joe McCormick Danny.
Alt Ctrl F12 is the key combination I use for screen capture in ClipMate 7. A set of cross hairs will pop up allowing you to lasso the part of the screen you want to capture.
Mar 8 at 9:07am
Danny @Joe McCormick,

Which one do you use then now: ClipMate 7 or ClipCache Pro or both? What is your experience or opinion between these two?
Mar 8 at 9:23am
Joe McCormick Danny.
I use ClipMate 7.5.25 Build 135 Licensed for one user on two computers.
I purchased ClipCache Pro the last time it was here on BDJ. I do not use it as much as ClipMate. I have been using ClipMate since 2004.

They are both excellent programs. They seem to to similar things, but maybe in different ways. I am so used to ClipMate that I really have not taken the time to learn ClipCache Pro.
Mar 8 at 9:54am
John Williams Windows 7 users can simply use the "snipping tool" that ships with Windows 7 out of the box. It allows various areas to be captured e.g free-form, rectangle, widow and full screen, which ClipCache captures. Failing that just use the printscreen key.
XRayz Software - Mar 8 at 10:43am
Scott Youngman Note that capturing screen shots and managing clipboard history are two different functions. ClipMate happens to have integrated the two into one program.

It's not difficult to do the same with ClipCache Pro -- just use a screen capture tool, whether the PrintScreen key, Win7's Snipping Tool, or one of the many free screen capture utilities which are available. The one I use is the last free version of FastStone Capture http://www.aplusfreeware....pture.html

Because so many tools are available for screen capture, I wouldn't make that the deciding point between ClipCache Pro and ClipMate.
Mar 8 at 11:17am
Danny @John Williams,

That may well be true. But ClipMate has that feature opportunities themselves. And that I will find a lot more convenient, than to be dependent on Windows itself!
Mar 8 at 12:13pm
Terence Conroy Hi John,

For two days I have been clicking the "buy now" button on this page (which now says Buy at Retail) here at BDJ. As I stated above it brings up a window that is showing the family pack at 59.98 ( crossed out ) and a discount price of 29.98. When I click on the family pack it brings me to the checkout page that shows the price at 59.95.

I guess I will have to wait and see if this is offered in the future.

Thank you!
Mar 8 at 12:39pm
Garrett Goyette @Scott and Dan.. I would agree with Scott. Most screen capture utilities [many free] will offer more in depth feature..... auto numbering, screen, scrolling screen etc and since either of these clipboards will automatically record anything captured by these other programs..

No question that CM7 is more feature rich but on my desktop it is less stable... just crashed on me two mainutes ago when i was just trying to scroll. We have 5 machines in our household and i can now use my wife's machine and have some kind of decent clipboard recorder on her pc and it only cost $6
Mar 8 at 1:16pm
Scott Kettman I abandoned CM7 because of the lack of support. It became unreliable with Windows 7 and there were no updates for years. On the CM7 forum it was indicated that development had stopped there would be no more updates. The last version I had was 7.3xx. Now all of a sudden there is a version 7.5? No thank you, when a program is abandoned for years I look for alternatives. ClipCache Pro costs less, is absolutely reliable and continues to be developed. I loved CM7 but when we the customers were left hanging when windows 7 came out I went elsewhere with out looking back.

Its important to me to have support and updates for a program I am supporting with my hard earned money. ClipCache Pro does that CM7 does not.
Mar 8 at 1:59pm
Joe McCormick Scott.
I to was about to abandon Clipmate 7 because of the lack of updates. That is why I bought Clip Cache Pro the last time it was BDJ. But just as I did, Clipmate 7 came out with an update to be compatible with Windows 8. I never had a problem with it in Windows 7 64 nor am I having any problems with in it on Windows 8 64. It has had about 4 minor updates this year already.
Mar 8 at 2:38pm
David Paul @Joe,

Seeing that I am unable to get an answer from John regarding the possibility of exporting clips to CSV/XML, could you tell me if Clipmate comes with this function?

Thanks.
Mar 8 at 10:13pm
Danny Joe has here right! ClipMate 7 is compatible with the latest Windows platforms like Windows 7 and 8! And for the test I have a email support asked, less than 6 hours passed and have already been answered! That is very fast.
Mar 8 at 10:38pm
John Williams David, you may have missed my reply? I answered your question yesterday looking back up this thread. "David, I can confirm that export to CSV file is on the todo list and will be in the next major update."
XRayz Software - Mar 9 at 6:41am
John Williams Terence, would you like to click on the support link on our website. Then click email support and mention your name. I will handle this so you get the deal. I'm not sure why it isn't working for you. Very strange.
XRayz Software - Mar 9 at 6:44am
Joe McCormick David Paul.
I just checked ClipMate 7. There is an Import and export setting for XML files, but I did not see anything for CSV files.
You can download the latest ClipMate 7 and use it for 30 days free to see if you like it. It is not continuous days but only days that you use the program according to the website.
Mar 9 at 1:31pm
Terence Conroy Hi John,

Sent you an email via support on your website.

Thank you.
Mar 9 at 1:57pm
David Paul John,

My apologies. My browser did not refresh properly and I missed your reply. This is great news to me! Thank you so much for putting the export feature into an already superb clipboard manager. I'm eagerly looking forward to its release.

Once again, thank you. With this functionality, Clipcache Pro will be back in my stable of Must-Have utilities.
Mar 9 at 8:36pm
Terence Conroy Hi John,

Got the family pack.

Thank you.
Mar 10 at 9:25am
John Williams Terence, you're welcome - thanks.
