Phil Tobin An earlier comment by Little Bear on this software might, possibly, discourage others from trying it. Sure, it's "old" software" (by old, I mean pre-Vista.) And yes, it does have some obvious failings, not the least of which is trying to figure out what the heck the EULA is: the typography is pure 1990s, and therefore. . . Appalling. And unreadable. (Though a better copy exists in the program folder when installed: plain text Helvetica throughout.)

As to "no shortcut": aw, come on. I've just DL'd and installed and then gone to C: Programs, found the Mariner folder, right clicked on the Desktop Poet exe, made a shortcut, and flicked it across to my desktop. Then I've popped it into Quick Launch, and deleted the shortcut from the desktop. And that's, er, that. 10 seconds.

I'm going to play with this later. But cavilling about the software's age and possible questionability -- I'm running simultaneously here Panda Cloud AV, which alerts without a problem AND Malwarebytes PRO (ditto) AND Billy P's WinPatrol PRO (ditto) -- and having to create a shortcut yourself seems just a bit, well. . . Mean.

loving thesixties Could only install it on 64-bit Win 7 by running as administrator. If I had to guess, I'd say the same is probably true on Vista as well as 32-bit Win 7. That's an easy-enough workaround that occurs with a fair amount of software, just like needing to create a shortcut, which is so easy even a newbie can do it. I'm looking forward to having some fun with this, since I always wanted to play around with the actual refrigerator magnet (original) version, but never bought it.
