b g I have the impression that this software will detach the attachments from each email and leave a link by which I can go to the storage directory and see the attachment.

1. Is the name / date of the file (now detached) shown, openly, on the email in the Outlook directory?

2. I use a text search program (Copernic -- similar to Google Desktop). Will this program find the searched-for text in files that were once attached to a sent or received Outlook email but now are detached but with a "link" from a storage directory?

I asked this question once before several months ago but things (and answers) change.

DroidLuvr I was excited about this program, but I have been unable to get it to do anything. Every time I attempt to do anything with it, I get an error dialog box as follows:

With Settings dialog A Win32 API function failed

I searched your FAQ and forums but found nothing similar to this error, so I guess I'm not buying this today :(

1) Yes. You can customize the name of the attachment, buy by default, it includes the subject of the email, the attachment name and type, and has the email's date.

2) Copernic will find the files on disk, but it will probably be unable to pull up the associated email.

B Josephs I checked this deal out last ti,e it was offered. Although it's a nifty tool, I didn't see a tremendous reduction in .pst size. Maybe I just don't have so many attachments???

Simon Carter @B Josephs: You won't see a reduction in PST size until you compact your PST file. Unfortunately Microsoft decided we can't do this programmatically for you. Here are the steps: http://www.datamystic.com...ompact.htm
