Diskmonitor Pro 5.0

Receive Alerts When Disk Space Runs Low

Have you ever gotten so caught up in preparing for the installation of new software that you FORGOT to check to see if you had enough disk space on your network to handle it? When things run down to the wire, the last thing you want to do is waste time trying to find files that can be deleted!

With Disk Monitor Pro, you will always know when your disk space starts to run low across all of your local and remote disks! Just set a specified disk space threshold, and Disk Monitor Pro will let you know when that threshold is breached. Want to receive an email notification? Popup alert? Audible alert? Disk Monitor Pro can do all of these things, plus create an HTML page alerting everyone to the disk space condition.

Even better than knowing about your disk space shortage is the ability to actually do something about it! Disk Monitor Pro gives you the power to run batch files as soon as disk space shortages trigger an alert -- which means you can create batch files that delete temporary files or other cached items, instantly providing some measure of relief!

Disk Monitor Pro can be used to keep watch over any local drive, network mapped drive, or UNC path, and you can set different rules for each of them, and receive daily disk space reports by email!

Jon Koerner This is a joke, right? $59 for software that tells you when your disk space gets low? Sorry if this offends anybody, but I'm just finding this difficult to believe. Maybe I could believe it at $9.95. Where are the people who are buying this, cause I've got this great bridge for sale that they might want to know about.

Scott Jackson DiskMonitor is used by many people as an invaluable 'Early warning' utility. Imagine you had an email server with 30,000 users which was about to become 95% full over the weekend......wouldn't you like to be informed when it gets to around 90% on the friday before ? I totally appreciate that this software may not be for you (or indeed the great price) but negative comments like that really don't help anyone and I certainly don't appreciate them.. So in answer to you question....NO, this is not a joke. Enjoy your weekend.

Roger Thomasson @ Jon

Obviously your computing habits don't necessitate an application like this. That's fine, not every title we offer is right for every customer.

Either way, let's keep this board respectful.

Rick Truell I've gotta go with Jon on this...although without the attitude :-) I thought pretty much the same thing when I first saw Diskmonitor in the list of upcoming deals. But I wouldn't even pay $9.95 for software that monitors disk space. Monitoring disk space and alerting you (in an annoying manner) when it falls below a certain level is a function that's built-in to Windows XP...and presumably to newer versions as well. If you don't like the way that Windows does it, the program Rainmeter (http://rainmeter.net/ brought to us by the same people that gave us Rainlendar Pro, which was on sale at BdJ a couple of days ago) can do it as well...and it's *free*.

Catherine, to address your specific example, lets be serious...it's bogus. If I'm a sysadmin responsible for an e-mail server with 30K+ users, I have the intelligence to check the free space on the server early Friday morning, so that I have the rest of the day, if necessary, to circumvent any impending disaster. It's *my job* to do that. If I don't have that level of intelligence, I wouldn't have been hired in the first place. And if I don't exercise that level of intelligence and the server runs out of space and crashes on the weekend, then Monday morning I *don't have* a job. Professionals don't use software like Diskmonitor or Rainmeter to monitor their production systems, they monitor the systems themselves. That's what makes them *professionals*. Programs like Diskmonitor and Rainmeter are aimed at the home user who *doesn't* run critical production systems and thus typically doesn't think about things like running out of disk space until it happens.

Scott Jackson Thank you for your comment Rick. As I have said before, I can totally appreciate your thoughts and comments on our software but I must state a few very important points. Firstly, there are many, many of our customers (professional and non-professional users) who use DiskMonitor as a very helpful 'everyday' utility. Whether it be a single PC or a whole host of servers, if people want to have a final notification feature that puts their mind at rest then thats what this program was created for. I am not interested in the line between home user and an MD of a high flying corp, if our program can help them then it has done its job. Not everyone has the luxury of time to check their servers at regular intervals during the day. Some people have better things to do with their time.

At the end of the day if you don't want to read about, think about, trial or purchase the software then that's fine. Giving an opinion on why YOU wouldn't want the software doesn't help anyone. I wouldn't dream of criticizing you on the way you do or don't do your job, but I suppose thats where true professional courtesy comes into play.

I hope you have an enjoyable weekend.

Jon Koerner As I said in my original post, I did not intend to offend anybody, and I apologized in advance in case it did so. And I tried to interject some humor. But I guess I have to apologize again. I just could not comprehend why anyone would pay $59 for a function that Windows already has built-in. But I do appreciate the developer's courtesy, after I inadvertently offended her. I'll try to refrain from potentially offensive expressions of incomprehension and attempts at humor in the future.
