Support @Al Prescott. Yes You can create the recovery media in Drive Cloner and boot from it to perform a backup, restore and clone of your hard drive.

Amit 1) Is this software a cloning software as well as a complete image backup creator as well. These 2 things are different, but the name 'cloner' is pointing only cloning.

2) Also, I already have macrium pro and paragon hd suite, what can set this one apart in terms of any more or distinct features ?

3) And I guess if it can in the created image or clone - PRESERVE rollback rx snapshots too then it can be really useful. Does it do that ?

4) Can it clone as well as create image / clone of linux as well ?

umike I often restore my windows once every 3-4 months. When I do so and reinstall Drive Cloner Rx, do I have to contact your support to reset my product key?

- Yes, Drive Cloner is also a complete image backup creator, aside from the clone disk function
- No it does not preserve Rollback Rx snapshots yet. If an image is created in Windows, it only copies the current system state (current snapshot)
- It only supports Windows OS at the moment

Software Guy At $15 per computer this looks like a nice step up from windows built in (yes that means FREE as part of the OS) drive imager. So I check 3 computers on Buy Now and the price pops up with a whopping $116.19 which includes media and gold support. So let us compare this to FSS Development's Casper V7- 3 pc license with support and media is $69.95 everyday. So this is quite an expensive program if you want support even with the BitsduJour discount. Hmmmm....

In the write-up above it says : " Even if your hard drive is completely toasted, Drive Cloner Rx can recreate your system on a new PC or hard drive, quickly and easily."
But I can't find anything on your website that Drive Cloner RX uses
a component called Adaptive Restore .
Simply "depositing' your clone on a new PC with different hardware
will not work unless Adaptive Restore technology is employed.

Please explain.

- If you're purchasing the license keys only it is still cheaper. Basic Support through our ticket system and live chat is still provided even if no Gold Support was purchased and the CD Media is optional and the software is readily available for download on our website.

@Peter
- I believe Adaptive Restore is proprietary to Paragon, so no we don't carry that technology with Drive Cloner. Restoring if only the hard drive was changed is of course the ideal scenario,

Restoring to a completely different machine does produce varied results (incompatible drivers,etc) but Windows most often would detect/install the native drivers to make the machine functional

-Thanks very much for your prompt response.
If a direct restore to a new PC or one with different hardware isn't possible ,any claims to that effect shouldn't really be in the description of Drive Cloner RX.
In most cases Windows will just not boot from the restored drive,
so the point of Windows "finding" the required drivers is mute .
All references in the clone will point to the "old" controllers and drivers and hence booting into Windows will fail.
Only "injecting' the drivers into the clone beforehand or while the restoration takes place might ensure a possible "normal" boot up.

Paul Eaves I recently had to restore a bog standard Win 7 setup to a new PC using Drive Cloner. I cannot say it was painless. The restore completed successfully according to Drive Cloner. A couple of days and a lot of blue screens and the use of the Windows Recovery disks later, and I got my system up . I wrongly assumed from the "bare metal" description that Drive Cloner would make windows re-evaluate its hardware abstraction layer and load the drivers (which were all on a CD in the drive) on power up. It's possible that I missed something with this software but it doesn't seem to be as painless as you might think.

Agree. Windows will not boot if we are restoring a backup image of one PC to another with different configuration. I tested that before (with several image backup software).

J S I have a few questions I'd like to ask as both an existing Horizon DataSys Corp. client, and also a prospective customer for this product:

Q1. Why is GOLD Support & Maintenance only available Monday to Friday even though Horizon DataSys Corp has offices all over the world?

Q2. If a buyer happens to buy the GOLD Support & Maintenance in say US Dollars can that subscription be changed to their local currency at a later date or are then forever tied to the US Dollar subscription model? [For example the buyer may be a world traveller and always buys their software in US Dollars, but at some point they may settle down in a country that's not the US of A.]

Q3. If previous Drive Cloner RX or RollBack RX purchases were purchased with "GOLD Support & Maintenance" but the program has not yet been installed and online activated: can a buyer obtain refunds FOR THE YEARLY SUBSCRiPTiONs they have since paid?

Q4. What is the current version and model number of Drive Cloner RX, AND when is the next version planned to be released (and what - if any, changes are planned to be implemented)?

Q5. How much slower is the Support for a buyers purchase if they decided to NOT initially buy Gold Support & Maintenance? (for example does their problem always get put to the bottom of the list thus months may go buy before they get assistance ...)

Q6. Is it possible to buy either Drive Cloner RX or RollBack RX initially without "GOLD Support & Maintenance" and ask at a later date outside the initial 12 months to go onto "GOLD Support & Maintenance" or is such a possibility only possible, as long as no major upgrade (eg, v2.x to v3.x) has been released?

Restoring the image to a totally different PC, it won't boot into Windows at all. Just a black screen. May be Windows can't find an active partition, or else.

- Our live chat and phone numbers are only active during weekdays but support tickets are still being handled by tech support over the weekend and callbacks are done when necessary. Eventually we may expand to those days. As of now we have already expanded our live chat support hours to support regular UK business hours

- This is more of a question for our e-commerce provider (Cleverbridge). If there is a need to change the payment method, I believe they can accommodate it.

- No, Gold Support is rendered used after purchase even though the license hasn't been activated.

- Current version is v5. We may be planning a new release when Windows 8 comes out. New features list to come soon.

- Basic Support is still answered fairly quickly, specially when customers go to our live chat.. The mean time on response to support tickets is normally between 24-48 hours

- We normally recommend purchasing Gold Support at the same time for the process to be seemless. This can be done, but its a case-by-case basis. Please contact support if you have a scenario like this.
