Jon Koerner The "Real Users" section above cites a Download.com user review which refers to a free version, stating that the "pay" version adds "auto update of drivers".

I don't see any separate "free" version on your website. Where is it, and what are the differences from "pay" version? What are limitations of the trial version downloadable here?

If I purchase, are you saying I cannot install it on both my desktop & laptop computer?

What is the updates/supgrade policy?

Nick Kobe Sorry, that won't work for me! Driver Detective allows you 20 installs for $54.00. Doesn't do as much as your software, but the difference isn't worth hundreds of dollars ($300 plus versus $54). I don't need 20 installs as I don't have 20 desktop/laptops, but I do have 8 and I'm the only user. I'm in marketing and have never understood the strategy of software developers in their licensing. These licensing policies are what lead to piracy and loss of revenue.

Stefan Hauber I absolutely agree with Nick Kobe: So no buy with me either.

At the very least two computers (laptop and desktop) should be possible. The majority of programs can't be used by a single user at the very same time.

If you guys are concerned about serial-numbers are being spread to other users - or isn't this your main concern? -, why don't you find a mechanism for easy unregistering or registering the usage on one computer? So it would be possible for a user to have a program installed on many computers, but only one being used at one time. (And with easy I mean something like to be done from within a program: Choosing a menu-item to unregister and another to re-register; and not having to write emails to you...)

Perhaps you have something like this integrated in your program - I didn't try it out, when I read this short one-computer-info by you. So if you have, please tell me: An unlimted allowed unregistering/reregistering-processing when switching the usage to another computer of mine would be nagging, but would be something I could live with...

Brad Perrault Hello,

I have four questions which are related in substance so it may not require four responses.

1.) What is your policy for minor version updates to product? Is it annual based on the anniversary of purchase date?

2.) Or, do you have an fee based annual maintenance program, so that in the event of a major version change users who have purchase maintenance are allowed the latest major product version?

3.) Or, in the event of no maintenance program! Do you have a policy whereby users who purchased with a 12 month time-frame are given the latest major version?

4.) Or do you have another mechanism whereby loyal users are incentivized to upgrade to the latest version of your product via a percentage discount or other mechanism?

I have already purchased one licence this evening for my primary workstation and depending on your upgrade policies I may purchase 3 additional licences for my other machines.

Jack M I have a 40GB hard drive that I want to replace with a 360GB drive. Can I simply move the intire contents over to the new drive via a USB with the new drive in an inclosure, then simply put the new larger drive into my laptop?
