Steve Jordi Does this mean it's the professional version?
Since the home user version is free...?

Tore Hoyem When last offered on BDJ, I purchased eM Client, because it seemed to be exactly what I was looking for.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be my One Big Regret as regards purchases via this site.

After installing the software, I quickly noticed a number of small bugs, which I started reporting as I discovered them.
I only received a reply to the first of these, as I recall.

I also tried using their support forums, but this turned out to be the poorest forum I'd ever encountered, i.e. it was hard to use (in my personal opinion).

After using eM Client for about a day, I noticed a technical problem that made it unusable: It generated so many login requests per hour (hundreds), that my mail provider started locking out my account. I simply had to stop using it at that point.
I filed an urgent report on this, but never received a reply.

Now, all this I could have endured and worked with the developers to resolve, but I finally found something that made me uninstall the software, and swear not to return ... ever!

I discovered that eMC would crash if it had no internet access. Curious about this, I 'braved' the forums and hidden away I discovered that eMC MUST PHONE HOME AT LEAST EVERY 14 DAYS, OR IT WILL NOT WORK!
(I believe it was confirmed by one of their reps, in answer to a direct question from another customer)

This was not at all stated in their BDJ Policy and still isn't. I don't believe they tell you this on their web site, either. Of course, an email/IM application needs internet access to work, but I do expect vendors to be clear on this sort of policy, and not try to obfuscate it.
Some of us care a lot about this sort of thing and like to vote with our wallets.

Things may have changed since I purchased this software, but personally I'm never returning as a customer.

Alan Sawyer @Allan, I believe in the free version you are limited to the number of email accounts it will support. This restriction is gone with the pro version. I own the product purchased last time on BDJ and am very happy with it. Don't know about the "phone home" thing, but haven't had any issues using it.

I have not used their forum, so I can't add any info on that part.

Eric Gordon Great software - no support! Love the program - fast, intuitive, very well conceived, plays very well with gMail. Liked much better than Outlook or T-Bird. Free version is limited to 2 email accounts after 30-day trial period. Support forums are worthless - many/most questions sit out there without answers, sometimes for years (literally). In my case, I experienced continual failures with a Netscape account (autochecking and sending mail). I tried the online chat, days before the 30-day license expired, and the person on the other end was solicitous and helpful, but was from the sales department.

I might buy it at the reduced price, press the Support department, and demand a refund by the 1 month return date if there's no help forthcoming. I like the software that much, and would pay for the license, if it just worked!

H. H. Hallo,
I asked this question at alst bdj offer but it had not been aswered (perhaps it was posted quite late), so I´ll post it agian:

". H. Hallo,
1.does by chance somebody know the differences between emclient and the donation ware koma-mail (http://www.koma-code.de)?
1a)with koma-mail it seems to be possible to decide, if one wants to delete emails only locally (from koma-mail database) or from server or from both - is this possibile with emclient too?
1b)Can emclient mark the emails automatically with different colour depending on their age?
2.Where can the settings be found to tell emclient not to delete mails from server (for imap and pop3)?
Thank you for answering in advance

Stephane M The "conversation view" feature was supposed to be added in version 4 this winter, so I bought the version 3 last time it was offered here.
Now version 4 is out and their support told me that it will now be in next major release (version 5 I guess).
This feature was originally scheduled for version 2.6.

So if you are looking for this feature, beware that it will not be implemented soon if it ever will.

Beside that, I think it is a good software but I am not using it because of this feature lack.

Allan Knox What does "no restriction for 2 user accounts in Pro Version" mean? I note that when I tried the demo version only the Inbox was imported in my second email account, and not the other folders as was the case with my first email account. Does that mean upgrading to Pro will bring in all the folder contents?
Incidentally, the lack of reply to Steve Jordi, even if the answer might seem obvious to you, is a little troubling with regard to support confidence.

Jaroslav Javornicky Hello,

1) the 2 user account restriction is for the FREE version only

2) eM Can mark incoming emails as you need with different colors

3) go to Accounts - Pop3 Server settings - leave messages on the server for x days

4) eM call home feature has been removed! in version 4

5) Conversation view will be added soon as we needed to release version 4, but Conversation view is still in BETA.

Let me know,

Regards

Jerry

Chris Roy Jackson I am interested in replacing Outlook Express since Microsoft removed Compatibility beginning with Vista.
Due to the fact that I have created Multiple Folders for the Organization of Many emails from Multiple accounts I do NOT want to re-Create all of my "Email RULES", and Microsoft has NOT EVEN provided a way (that I know of) to "Export" (or"Import") Rules to Outlook.
So I am interested in whether "This Program" can help me with the two issues of Importing my Existing LOCAL emails (in their Existing Folder Structure), as well as if it can Import My Existing Mail Rules.
Thanks-in-Advance for any replies.

Ash Goyal I share Tore Hoyem sentiments above. I too bought the sw last time it was offered and setup all email accounts to be sync'd in it but I regret buying the software. It makes too many requests to gmail that the a/c login is suspended causing issues. If I could get a refund, I will move to the free Thunderbird from Mozilla.
Apr 9 at 10:10pm
Don Wilcox I wanted to see how the export function works, but it doesn't. At least not for contacts.

No backup? Searched help to find how to backup/restore accounts/data after re-installing. Could not find anything on the subject.
Apr 15 at 4:46pm
Don Wilcox I'm certinly not going to spend $40 on software from a company that doesn't answer or respond to messages here. Especially about a critical function such as backing up the data it holds.
Apr 17 at 2:01pm
Roger Thomasson @ Don

We don't expect our vendor partners to monitor BDJ comment threads 24/7/365. That would be a little much. I'd recommend you contact them via their dedicated support channel if you want a prompt response:
