Recover Your Data From a Crashed Hard Drive

You rely on your computer to store all of your important files. So it seems ironic that a hard drive that's full of your important data can be rendered completely inaccessible by just a small boot sector! That's right, just one corrupt sector on your drive results in a machine that's dead in the water, with all of your data held hostage. If only you could get your computer to boot just one more time, you'd be able to copy your data onto another drive and save the day. That's why you need today's discount software promotion, Emergency Boot CD!

Emergency Boot CD provides you with a self-contained bootable OS on CD that lets you fix unbootable computers and achieve maximum data recovery. But in addition to letting you get back into your files and save them, Emergency Boot CD also provides you with a cornucopia of tools that make managing your machine simple and easy. There's a File Manager, which you can use to save files off from your local hard disk to a USB drive. Then there's the Windows Password Wizard, giving you powerful access to your PC even when you completely forget the password for your Windows user account - not hard to imagine if you're in a panic from a hard drive crash!

Next up - Registry Defragmenter, which reorganizes the data in your Registry to make your computer run faster. And along with that, there's Registry Editor, handy for making changes to the Registry even if Windows is unbootable. Lastly, there's Mount & Boot Center, which lets you reassign and fix missing drive letters, edit boot menus, and most importantly, repair boot records and active partition flags.

With all of these wonderful utilities on one disk, there's no reason why you shouldn't have Emergency Boot CD in your arsenal!

Danny This application is no longer needed from Windows 8, such a function would be similar to that platform. Is that so?
Mar 17 at 9:16am
Mikhail Kupchik I doubt if Windows 8 will allow unresticted logons, access to filesystems and the registry, but even if so, Microsoft will rather burst from greediness than allow someone to buy just one license key and boot their OS everywhere :)
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 17 at 9:24am
Louis Nemecek Does this app work on a corrupt MBR?
Mar 17 at 9:46am
disenchanted Is this utility similar to ones like:

1. O&O Bluecon V10
2. Active@ LiveCD
3. Paragon software's Rescue kit V10

Your product's price is much cheaper of course.
I think I'll give it a shot, once it becomes available for purchase.
Mar 17 at 10:09am
Wolfman Can it allow full access to a dynamic disc and striped partitions?
Mar 17 at 10:39am
Mikhail Kupchik @Louis Nemecek:

EBCD Mount and Boot Center can restore boot code in the MBR:
http://www.prime-expert.c...system.php
http://www.prime-expert.c...fix_02.png

as well as fix various other boot problems (related to partition boot code, active partition flag, BCD etc),

but EBCD won't do sequental disk scan in search for partition superblocks and won't automagically rebuild the partition table in MBR if it's completely destroyed.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 19 at 2:20am
Mikhail Kupchik @disenchanted:

All of boot CDs mentioned by you have powerful partition management tools: create/format/delete, shrink/expand, image management, fix small errors, recover remainings of user files from the broken filesystem.

EBCD strength is a registry management: is has full-featured offline registry editor with raw mode, full Unicode support, search etc; registry defragmenter; Windows password changer tool; and Mount & Boot Center which is able to analyze, update and rebuild from scratch complex BCD (Boot Configuration Data) registry hives. Outstanding feature of Mount & Boot Center is a very simple user interface, just one screen:

1) http://www.prime-expert.c...-entry.php

2) http://www.prime-expert.c...sshot6.png

Also EBCD has a builtin File Manager with full support for Unicode, builtin editor and viewer, similar to Far Manager / Total Commander in Windows or Midnight Commander in Unix.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 19 at 2:29am
Mikhail Kupchik @disenchanted: No, dynamic disks (aka Windows SoftRAID, aka Veritas Storage Manager disks) are not supported.

EBCD supports just 'basic' disks - i.e. normal MBR and GPT disks.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 19 at 2:31am
Mikhail Kupchik @disenchanted: Also I forgot to mention that EBCD registry editor can import and export registry keys, in text mode (.reg files) and in binary mode (NT registry hive), preserving ACLs, class names and other metadata.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 19 at 3:04am
Walter Meckley I noticed in the screen shot this is for win xp and win 7, will this work on windows 8?
Mar 19 at 3:47am
Mikhail Kupchik @Walter Meckley: It's a standalone OS on CD, so it will work everywhere. Yes, it fully supports Windows 8 registry format and Windows8-specific features in BCD.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 20 at 12:45am
Michael R. In combination of the former bought FashBoot-tool of yours, I would be happy with a feature, that would allow to create a self-booting usb-stick out of .iso-files (perhaps on another usb-stick) from OUTSIDE windows, i.e. from within your EBCD-tool.

So it would be possible to create more than one rescue-boot CDs on a single usb-stick and create a new rescue-USB-Stick even if windows does not run.

disenchanted @Mikhail,

Thanks for the response.

Nelson Therrien I burned the trial version: I know it's written that physical drives are read only with the trial version, but I don't see any way of changing the drive as well (z: is the drive, surely for the cd, but can't change it)...

Is it disabled as well? Do you have an instruction guide somewhere?
Mar 20 at 9:29am
Mikhail Kupchik @Nelson Therrien: Use Alt+F1/Alt+F2 to change drive in the EBCD File Manager.

Here is a detailed guide:
http://www.prime-expert.c..._guide.php

In general, keyboard layout of the EBCD File Manager is similar to Far Manager, Total Commander, Norton Commander and Midnight Commander (orthodox file managers).

Raimondas Antanavicius It is dam good tool. I am very happy I found it.
Earlier I used EASEUS WinPE boot disk (comes with Partition Master 9.2.1 Pro) but compared to this tool it is not so comfortable.
Good job Prime-expert, keep it up!

Dieter Maler @Michael R: Try EasyBCD (http://neosmart.net/EasyBCD/ , free for personal use)
@all: you get what you pay for. A better (but double, today 4 times as expensive) alternative was Wondershare LiveBoot (http://www.wondershare.com/boot-cd/) which boots a 32bit Win7 with all Windows tools (incl. support for dynamic discs) and the ability to run other Windows tools (like EasyBCD, Paragon, ...) from USB stick.
AFAIK it doesn't support HFS (MacOS) though, except you integrate tools like Paragon HFS+ for Win (http://www.paragon-softwa...s-windows/)

CJCotter When I went to purchase Emergency Boot CD, I get a "red letter" message stating that the coupon code has already been used, and would not give me the 50% discount. Help!
Mar 20 at 6:11pm
Chris Roy Jackson I just went to the Order Page and the coupon code was already "in place" and the 50% discount applied... However, I did NOT see a PayPal Option in the DropDown List of Payment Options. IS PayPal supposed to be an Option ???
Mar 20 at 10:01pm
James Elson I was in the process of purchasing this when, like Chris Roy Jackson, I found there was not any option to use PayPal

Since when does plimus.com (I've purchased software that has used them as their payment processor before, I recall using PayPal) no longer accept payment through PayPal?

Oh, well... would have liked to have bought it....
Mar 20 at 11:33pm
Mikhail Kupchik @Chris Roy Jackson, @James Elson:

Sorry, PayPal payment option is not supported.
This is a limitation of payment processor, Plimus.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 21 at 12:40am
Mikhail Kupchik @Christopher Cotter: my local time was 3:12am when you complained, but discount coupon code seems to work OK now. Please retry. Temporal disabling of browser extensions like AdBlock or running in another browser also may be helpful.
PrimeExpert Software Vendor - Mar 21 at 12:44am
CJCotter Mikhail, I figured out what happened: I already bought this! On October 21 of last year, you offered this same deal using the same coupon code! As a result, your order page flagged my email and stopped me. If it hadn't done so, I would have discovered later that I paid twice for this same program! Thank you!
Mar 21 at 3:28am

VLM From your comments above, I see that the ability to edit the registry may be the "big deal" about this product. If this is the case, then is if fair to say that someone who is not all that familiar with working in the registry might not do well using this product?

More generally, if we have already purchased a professional backup product that includes the ability to make an emergency boot cd. how is this product different? What is the value added?
Mar 21 at 6:30am
Chris Roy Jackson @ Mikhail Kupchik

Sorry to disagree with you, but it has been less than 6 months since the last time I made a purchase through Plimus using PayPal !!!
Mar 21 at 7:53am

Steven Avery Hi,

Using an emergency boot is always a good tool. Always keep in mind the option of simply using the file manager to copy all the files (if your save is not up to date) and then restoring either the full OS or an image along the way. That saved my goose once.

Some utilities like EasyBCD mentioned by Dieter above have vibrant discussion forums as well, often helpful.

Tools that try to give you a pseudo-Windows-OS I find unnecessary cumbersome, like WinPE and BART, in my experience you simply want to access the disk from a Linux-style CD (or UBS if possible) that has utilities that understands the Windows file structure, and maybe the registry, etc.

With these tools, as I understand, we burn a CD (can be burned on any puter, the CD is not puter specific, correct?)

What I would like is a short summary of the advantages of the PrimeExpert tool. Ease of use? Specific utilities? etc.

That would help me decide.

Thanks.

Steven

jay aich I must say that I am somewhat disappointed to find that I must purchase ANOTHER program to allow Emergency Boot CD to can "also boot your computer from a USB drive!"
Whoever is responsible for writing the description does not really matter. The fact is that it is misleading. If the person who wroten it worked for me he would be at the Department of Unemployment in the morning.
Mar 21 at 10:54am
Roger Thomasson @ jay aich

Apologies, we did in fact have the description wrong! Sorry about that! We've removed the offending text, feel free to shoot me a personal email if you'd like any more help with this situation:

Barcode Nut Sorry Mikhail, I have taken ALL the credit for recovering my wife's laptop using your tool. She thinks I am a real genius. Thanks again.
Mar 21 at 3:25pm
Tortuga @jay aich & @Roger
Sorry, I don't understand! What was wrong w the previous text?
Can EBCD boot from a USB or not ?
(I haven't had time to read & explore this app yet)
Please explain. Thanks
Mar 21 at 8:18pm
jay aich @ Tortuga
to boot from usb you need another prgm of theirs called Flashboot.
I bought EBCD and AFAIAC I wasted my money. Their prgm informed me that there is NO Windows installation on a laptop I'm working on. Well, I know better- it has Win XP Pro and always has.
I won't bother running their sw again.
Mar 22 at 5:06pm
Tortuga @Hello Jay :)
Thank you *so much* for coming back to explain!!
Darn, that's disappointing ... :(
I bought it bc of the USB option (as the txt stated b4 the correction)
Why doesn't the company just say so clearly, so we can decide beforehand! Never a good strategy to play around w facts ...
Very glad you brought that to our attention, before I had embarked on that route. Haven't had the time to install yet
Sorry it didn't work for you at all.
Peace

Steven Avery Hi,

I just had one of the problems on this puter where I could not sign in (an 000021 fault that is probably related to winlogon.exe). I tried research, registry editing and a number of Rescue CDs (Kaspersky, UBCD, PartMagic, SystemRescue CD, etc. and none could resolve the logon problem, although they do help to make sure you have a full backup). Based on the description Emergency Boot CD has no special tools for that problem either. (It would have been nice to try a simple winlogon.exe replacement tool).

I wrote about the experience:

image backups after OS reinstall with clean system
http://www.donationcoder....#msg321648

Bits: maybe you should see about getting Macrium or DriveImageXL Pro onto Bits, or at least one dedicated Image program that is not known for complexity and difficulty. Maybe you have done this with Easeus or Paragon?

I am a big believer that when your system gets sludgy, it is time to reinstall the OS, or better yet, an early clean image.
