Thanks for posting to the review. The review wondered about upgrade policies. The all minor (i.e. 2.X) are free. You are upgrade protected for all major upgrades for at least one year. The upgrade price to version 2.0 for all previous customers was a nice, big, fat zero. There will be a small charge for version 3.0 but that is over a year away and compared to other programs it won't be much. The comment about the candy-like interface is valid for some. Many thought our previous interface to sour. :-) The good news is that you can change both the general style and the that of the tool bars to take some of the sweetness out of it. As for the other two points. We are working on 'Copy Again' (actually any action again) logic that will just use the previous parameters. It should be out in about 2 months. In the mean time you can configure the Drag & Drop copy engine to act with the settings you want and then use Drag & Drop for simple copy operations (FileBoss Drag & Drop is a lot more sophisticated than Windows Explorer. I just loaded the program to try it our. So far, I like what I am seeing with the program, but I have a problem with the Help Guide. I tried clicking on one of the help topics and all I get is a error message saying Help could not be displayed File c:\program files\file boss V2\File boss chm. Type:Guide Code:1059. Your error code list made no sence on how to fix the problem.
I had the same problem Mary for a couple of functions. It seems if you go into the help from a path that does work, you can then look up the topic that didn't work. Not really sure what the problem is, but that's a workaround I used.
Hi Mary and Charles, That error code is from the Microsoft Help System and simply means that the topic FileBoss wanted to display could not be found in FileBoss's help File. (The Help Guide is simply a special index into FileBoss's main help file.) It appears that some of the links that connect the Help Guide topics to the help file (FileBoss.chm) were broken in the most recent minor release - which explains why Charles was able to get to the topics through the normal help system, i.e. the topics are there but the pointers in th help guide are wrong or broken. I will check the all the links in the data and help files this weekend and correct those that are broken. An update will be available Monday, both as a new setup program and, for those who want it, just the Help and the small data files that contains the links. Hi Folks, Although this is a couple of days later, I just want to mention that this looks like fine software. Good discussion at Donationcoder. Pretty, a bit cluttered, but in a nice way. Although it is in a crowded software realm, where we are often using various freeware and shareware programs.
