Take Control Of Your Finances

*** Great News! Fortora LLC has agreed to extend this deal for another day - Enjoy! ***

If you've been struggling to keep up with the near-constant stream of information about your personal finances, you know how difficult and complex things can get! There's your checking account, savings accounts, multiple credit cards, bills, and a host of other items to keep your eye on. Lose track of something, and the impact can be devastating, cascading across all of your financial plans and setting you back. Why not put the power of software to work for you? Organize your personal finances easily with Fresh Finance!

Fresh Finance lets you streamline the task of money management, offering an easy and intuitive way to reconcile your checkbook, track credit card balances, receive bill reminders, and establish a real budget that will let you get ahead! With Fresh Finance, you'll be able to generate reports that can offer sometimes surprising insight into how you spend your income -- thus giving you the power to change your habits!

Instead of having you jump in and out of a laundry list of screens and menus, Fresh Finance offers you a comprehensive overview of your entire financial situation on one easy-to-read screen! It's so easy to use, there's almost no learning curve before you're fully operational. Plus, when it comes to planning, Fresh Finance lets you set up multiple budgets, in case you want to try out what-if scenarios.

Please note folks: Fresh Finance is not Java! While It is available for both Mac and Windows, each version is a native application. This means each application was beautifully designed just for your favorite Operating System, and functions and feels just like you would expect!

All of us, at one point or another, have tried to track our spending by manually entering receipts - which lasts about as long as your last exercise kick. Fresh Finance lets you import transactions from online banking services, making data entry completely unnecessary and ensuring that you'll keep up with the program!

New and Improved! The folks at Fortora are constantly working to improve Fresh Finance based on valued customer feedback. Here are a few recent updates:

  • Direct inline editing: You can now add transactions directly to the register (like a spreadsheet), so you no longer have to use a separate form to add transactions. This makes data input much faster! (However you can turn off this new feature if you would like).
  • Improved speed.
  • Improved user interface.
  • Much more customizable (You can now change the order of the transaction register columns, and much more).
  • Online Bill Pay - Now you can pay your bills online directly from within the software!
  • Improved Direct Connect support - Now supports over 600 financial institutions!
  • Many other improvements and fixes.

Please note that you can install the Family Pack on up to five (5) computers in your household.

Roger Abbett A question for the developer:
I bought this software when it was previously listed on BDJ. Is it possible to disable the nag screen (which states the license needs to be renewed) that appears every time the software is started after 1 year of use? Other than by paying for the software again, of course. I did submit a support request, but as noted in the older comments, you do not reply to those.
Apr 16 at 1:22am
George Ashkar Roger, the "nag screen" was a bug in a previous version, which we fixed and then pushed out the update to all our customers (so it appears you may have not updated your version). Please contact me at: george at fortora.com and I will assist you in resolving this issue promptly. Thanks Roger.

Roger Abbett Hi George,
Thanks very much for your reply.
Unfortunately although I emailed you yesterday (using my business email address rogerp*****n at hotmail.com) I have not received a reply from you (I have checked the junk mail folder too). Perhaps your prompt response is taking longer than expected?
Thanks.
Roger

George Ashkar You are very welcome Roger :) I am glad everything is working for you now. Please let me know if you need anything else.

Benoit Lallemand Is Fresh Finance is multilingual?
Is Fresh Finance work with european banks such as ING BNPParibas
Apr 19 at 2:17am
George Ashkar Hello Benoit,

Fresh Finance is currently only in English, but we are working on multilingual support. What language are you looking for?

Fresh Finance is compatible with most banks. As long as your bank can export to QIF, CSV or OFX/QFX files then Fresh Finance can import from your bank. Fresh Finance can also direct connect to over 600 financial institutions.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 19 at 8:00am
George Ashkar Just a little reminder to everyone:

We have received support requests asking how to transfer money in between accounts in Fresh Finance. This is very easy to do:

1) Add a transaction to the account register as usual

2) In the category box, click the popup arrow and you will see a list of categories and accounts

3) At the top of the list you will see all the transfer accounts, i.e. "Transfer:Checking", "Transfer:MasterCard", "Transfer:Savings", etc.

4) Select the account you want to transfer to

5) You're done :)

PBMCMLXXI I note upgrades are free for a year, what's the upgrade costing discount after a year? Thanks
Apr 19 at 9:10am
George Ashkar After one year, if you want to upgrade to the newest version the upgrade cost is $27. However if you don't want to upgrade you can still use your version forever. Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thank you.

Paul joubert Hi George
I'm considering the "Fresh Finance for Windows + Mac Bundle"
Is there any limitations on the mix OS ie 3 Win vs 2 MAC etc?
If it runs on MAC is there a possibly a Linux version?
I know it is a bit late in the day.
Hopefully I'll get an answer or the deal extended.
Regards
Apr 19 at 12:59pm
judy epstein Does it track investments? Buying, selling stock, splits, etc.?
Apr 19 at 2:06pm
Phred E What countries does Fresh Finance suit, George? I notice that you have 'Checking' accounts, so I assume it's primarily written for the USofA. That's 20 times larger and more complex than us here. AUS.
I always ask on this page what happens to registration of the software when the software company dies. With finance, software is even more dependent on its publisher than usual programs, but what happens, anyway, when Fortora ceases business? Thx.
Apr 19 at 2:34pm
George Ashkar Paul, there is a 10 machine max limit (5 PCs, 5 Macs). Regarding Linux, we have indeed been considering a Linux version, and if we find enough Linux demand we can release one. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 19 at 3:51pm
George Ashkar Judy, the software does track investments (buying, selling, splits, etc.) however it is not as advanced as Quicken in this aspect (we are working on improving investment support though).

Yes, the data file is double-clickable from Finder, and by default it is in your Documents folder (but you can move it anywhere).

Yes you can use more than one data file (sequentially).

As far as tagging line items for tax purposes, you can either due this with customized categories/subcategories, or customized number column items.

Please let me know if you have further questions.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 19 at 3:54pm
George Ashkar Hi Phred, we are a U.S. company, so our English is American-style, however we are working on releasing multilingual support which will also include different English styles like UK and AUS.

But it is important to note that the software is designed to work with many different currencies and date/number formats -- so the software really works well in all regions of the world (we have customers on all 6 continents).

If we ever do cease business (which is highly unlikely), the software and registration will still work. And you can export your data either to a QIF file (to move into another financial package) or to your spreadsheet program.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, I am happy to assist you!
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 19 at 4:03pm
judy epstein What do you mean by not as advanced as quicken for investments?
Do you have zoom levels so the text can be made as big as needed?
Apr 19 at 5:54pm
George Ashkar Judy, what I mean is that our software supports basic investment management (buy, sell, stock splits, etc.) but it is not as comprehensive as Quicken. But we are working on enhancing investment support in the software and it will get better soon...

The software generally imports Quicken data very well, and many of our customers have moved from Quicken without any issues whatsoever. What you do is export your Quicken data to a QIF file, and then import that into Fresh Finance. Each user's scenario is different, but in most cases Quicken data imports perfectly, in some cases the user may have to make a few modifications to the imported data.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 19 at 6:12pm
Kenneth Kinderman Would love to abandon Quicken, but am somewhat skeptical that all my info would transfer correctly, based on some of your comments. Is there a trial version I could use for a short while to make sure it is relatively hassle free?
Apr 20 at 7:09am
George Ashkar Kenneth, sure go to http://www.fortora.com and you can download a trial from there and test it out yourself.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 8:34am
George Ashkar Hello everyone, here is another friendly reminder:

We have been receiving support requests asking "My bank is not listed under the Direct Connect financial institutions list. Will the software still work with bank XYZ?"

Yes our software will work with your bank :) If your bank is not listed under the Direct Connect financial institutions list, all that means is your bank does not support Direct Connect. But you can still import your transactions via a QIF, CSV, or OFX/QFX file (which 100% of banks support).

And of course if you want to enter your transactions by hand you can do that also.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 8:46am
PBMCMLXXI Kenneth, trial avail on website: http://www.fortora.com/

Thanks George for extending one day. Given me more time to use the trial myself.

So far impressed with the programme. Is there any plan to add seperate function for cleared and reconsiled? I find cleared useful when credit card shows as transactions, and then reconsile after monthly statement online. Easier to see what was owed and what currently the next statement will show, rather than the current way forta seems to currently do it. Only my personal obs and interst if such a planned function.

Thanks.
Apr 20 at 8:49am
George Ashkar You are very welcome :) We are constantly working on improving our product, especially based on user feedback. Reconciling is indeed one area of the product in which we are working on enhancing, and we really appreciate your feedback... Feel free to send us feedback at anytime, we are very responsive and once again we appreciate it!
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 9:17am
Steve Amos Does the software support the attachment of receipts and other documents to individual transactions, especially cash transactions?
Apr 20 at 9:46am
George Ashkar Steve, not currently but we are working hard on releasing this feature soon. The software will allow you to attach any kind of file (document, image, etc.) such as receipts, images, warranties, etc.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 10:19am
Steve Amos George:

1. How soon is soon?
2. 1 document per transaction or any number of documents attached per transaction?

Thanks in advance.
Apr 20 at 10:23am
George Ashkar 2-5 months maximum (most likely sooner than later). The number of file attachments will be unlimited.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 10:26am
mopp Hey there,
can't seem to get this to work. Downloaded and seemingly installed but the program is nowhere to be found on my computer. Searching just brings up the file to reinstall the software. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help!!!
Apr 20 at 11:22am
George Ashkar Hello! What operating system are you on? If it's Windows 8, you need to go to Desktop Mode by clicking on the "Desktop" tile and once in desktop mode you will see the "Fortora Fresh Finance" icon and you just double-click it.

If you are on Windows 7 and below the icon should be on the desktop or by clicking on the Start button and selecting Programs-Fortora Fresh Finance.

If you are on a Mac, you would simply drag the "Fortora Fresh Finance" icon to the Applications folder and then launch it from there.

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you need further assistance.
Fortora LLC Vendor - Apr 20 at 11:30am
T L I installed the trial version and exported my primary checking account from Quicken to a .QIF file. When I imported the .QIF file into Fresh Finance, it said "Finished" right away and gave me a window with a close button (the "Next" was grayed-out). I clicked close and was returned to the main FF window, where there was no evidence of any data being imported.

Perhaps it's relevant to note that I have been a Quicken user since about 1996 and have a ton of transactions, numerous accounts, and hundreds of sub-categories. Will FF choke on all that?
Apr 21 at 1:03am
George Ashkar It should have imported the QIF file without any problems... If you would like, you can email me at: george at fortora.com and I will be happy to assist you.
