What are people saying about iCare Data Recovery Pro

Frank Nitte I have a portable hard drive that I unplugged before it was finished, and now it show as RAW instead of NTFS. I can't access anything on the drive. Will this software fix that problem?

Mr Dave I've had an older version since 2012, fortunately I've never had to use it! Before installing today's program, I removed the old one using Revo Uninstaller, which first runs the iCare uninstaller that came with the program. The iCare uninstaller removed all traces of the program - folders, files, links, registry entries. Revo did not find ANY leftovers. This is a very rare thing, and I commend iCare for taking care of it's customers. Thanks!

Yes this program might help. But you need another HDD with enough space to save the recovered files. Original file names may be lost and it usually takes a lot time to recover.
You can also try free program testdisk. If only MBR is destroyed on your disk it can rewrite it and all data will be back. There is a higher risk with this method since you write on the drive with the data loss but it is usually very fast and all data will be back with original file names folder names and folder structure if it works right. If possible make a full backup before using testdisk.
Testdisk often helped me with USB sticks that suddenly became unformatted. Also recovered some HDDs.

wts Enough already.

Here's another product from a company that wants to remain anonymous. Go to Company | About Us or the equivalent on a product's website and read nothing but pablum. There's no other basic company information on the site under Contact, etc. The company appears to carefully leave no easily found trace on a Google search, etc., about itself.

I have no idea whether the BitsDuJour people know anything about this or similar companies other than signing up as a "Partner" or reseller on their site and trying out the product and running a scan.

I have mostly abandoned sites similar to BitsDuJour but follow Bits daily because I think they do a consistently better job of selecting, qualifying, and pricing products than their competition and because of the generally very high quality level and usefulness of "The Conversation". I have found and bought at BDJ outstanding products from smaller companies all around the world that deserve all the financial support and sales they can get.

I could be wrong, but I suspect that "iCare Data Recovery" is a Chinese or Russian company that is afraid that admitting that fact will hurt sales. If so, they should note that many such companies on BDJ give real information about themselves on their websites and I have not seen any paranoid comments on BDJ or elsewhere relating to the company being a vector for spying, etc.

So I ask BDJ to only carry products from companies that make basic information about themselves available on their websites or easily via a Google search about the company rather than just the product.

Thank you!

SueW It would be great to read the changelog. I have an older version and could not find any current info on their website . . . The most recent info is for v4.5.2 -- from July 20, 2011.
