S B How do the images compressed with IC 2008 Pro compare to those compressed with various other graphics programs (Photoshop, IrfanView, etc.) using their various "quality" settings?

Will IC 2008 compress noticibly better than, for instance, IrfanView?

I've just used IrfanView to compress the "Circular Quay and Colourful Sydney .Original image" from www.image-compressor.com and the results with IrfanView are pretty impressive (clearity, few visible artifacts, more than 50% compression).

Please help us understand IC 2008's advantages.

Rizal Firmansyah Image Compressor main advantage is in its Digital Eye technology.
It lets you compress images using "auto-pilot": You don't have to preview and select compression level for each and every images. Digital Eye does it automatically for you.
Digital Eye detects important objects in each photo and make sure the compressed image has the optimum quality and filesize - that is keep the important objects as clearly as possible.

As you can see in the sample gallery section in Image Compressor's website, the "Circular Quay" image can be compressed to 70% ratio.

Using Digital Eye, we gain many advantages, such as:
1. Ability to batch compress images correctly.

David Gilmour As a pro photographer, I have to say that I am really impressed with this product. I bought it about a week ago, after seeing it highlighted on BDJ, and I have been giving it a real workout ever since.

I have been using it to shrink full res image files before uploading them to both, my gallery hosting / post-production service providers, and my photo labs / print shops. These upload jobs can involve hundreds of image files, each several MB in size; cutting the size of these files by 50% -- I'm seeing a wide variation in size reduction from file to file, but it's averaging about 50% for me -- means file upload jobs can be completed hours sooner.

I have also been using it to shrink full full res image files following Photoshop processing, in preparation for importing the image files into my album layout software; smaller image files means that my layout software is performing more responsively than before.

Both kinds of applications are saving me precious time. Although Image Compressor's batch resizing operation itself takes time, I have been seeing a net time savings for me in the end, especially since these batch processing jobs can be run in the background with seemingly little impact on system performance.
