A Watchful Eye Over Your Network Connections
You're always up-to-date on the latest virus profiles for your antivirus application, so you're protected, right? Wrong! These days, it's not enough to protect yourself against viral payloads - in fact, hackers have shifted their focus. Instead of using a virus to destroy your machine, they'd much rather sneak rogue apps onto your computer and use it (along with thousands of other infected desktops) as a clone army to launch massive attacks. What's the solution? Say it with me - Firewall! Firewall! Firewall!
jFirewall is the perfect complement to your existing antivirus protection. It lets you monitor and regulate the network activity of all of the applications on your computer, both known and unknown. Once installed, jFirewall keeps a close eye on all incoming and outgoing network connections and anything that uses the TCP and UDP protocols. You'll be able to set up jFirewall to allow or deny network connections on a case-by-case basis, or use a rules-based system to allow or deny application activity based on a set of criteria.
Whether incoming or outgoing, jFirewall lists the intimate details of each network connection through TCP protocol, including the process ID, file name, remote address (IP and port), connection duration and traffic bandwidth. At your option, you can terminate any suspicious process, or create a rule to govern it. If you're not sure about the validity of any application, you can log the network activity to review later - maybe you'll spot a pattern!
What's more, jFirewall adds an additional, but crucial, level of protection by monitoring activity and changes to your Windows system registry. Suspicious activities, such as an application trying to embed an autorun instruction, are immediately flagged and blocked!
