Roberto will be the pro plus discounted? I work in a school and sometimes i wish to automate tasks for my students. The player license it would be good, and i'll move from my current tool to this.

Ed Lamaster I'll second that. The Pro Plus would be critical for me as well. Otherwise I'd stick with uBot Studio.

Mathias User Thanks for asking! Yes, we can offer the PRO PLUS edition at the same discount. The regular price is US$ 495, but with the 53% BitsDuJour discount it is only US$ 232.65.

If you (or anyone else reading this) is interested in purchasing PRO Plus at this discount please use this purchase link:

http://bit.ly/BitsDuJourKantuProPlus

The Kantu PRO Plus Edition (regular US$ 495) contains all the features of the PRO Edition plus an unlimited, royalty-free Kantu Player license:

Kantu Player (Part of Kantu PRO Plus): If you plan to distribute your Kantu PRO based solution (which means you are using the API to control Kantu from your scripts or programs) we highly recommend the Kantu PRO PLUS Edition which includes free unlimited player licenses for use inside and outside your company. This license allows you an unlimited, royalty-free distribution of your solution to anyone inside and outside your company, including web downloads, cloud-based services and all other distribution channels.

Mathias User Both, PRO and PRO Plus are code-signed by us (a9t9).

bvssunnydale Hi, I know it's subject-to-change but I was wondering what the annual license renewal cost(s) currently are? Thanks.

Mathias User Hi, as you know, a Kantu PRO license is a one-time payment - no subscription. You purchase and own the software, it never expires.

In addition, the price includes free upgrades and tech support for a year (called "Upgrade Assurance"). You can purchase additional years of free upgrades and tech support for 25% of the license price at any time. Example: For Kantu PRO, a second year of Upgrade Assurance is only US$75 (25% of US$295)

Kimmo Lahtinen Quite a price increase from last year. The Kantu PRO is the same as PRO Plus last year. Is there new features or other reasons for the price increase?
Apr 17 at 2:43am Copy Link
1
Mathias User Hi Kimmo,

Thanks for asking: First, the PRO and PRO Plus names have not changed. The difference between them is and was the amount of licenses you get: PRO gives you one developer license. PRO Plus gives you *2* developer licenses and *unlimited* replay licenses (replay the created macros on other systems). So with PRO Plus you get *two* license keys, one for the developer licenses and one for the player licenses (this one you can distribute).

Second: Price increase.. yes. But you get new features such as built-in OCR, drag and drop automation, enhanced API and many others. And then there is also a very useful in-official new feature: If you purchase Kantu Web Automation until May 1st you will get a free cross-upgrade to our upcoming KantuX Desktop automation version, for details see https://a9t9.com/kantu/de...automation

In other words, we run the BitsDuJour promotion just in time. Everyone who purchases KantuX on BitsDuJour will get the free desktop automation cross-upgrade.

Gonzo Although I appreciate this being offered here as well as the huge discount, the developer should keep in mind 99% of buyers here are regular users (ie. not companies), most of whom would probably never in their life spend this amount of money on one piece of software...
May I suggest to the developer to consider offering a product (maybe with a smaller feature set) that single users can actually afford?
Apr 17 at 3:38am Copy Link

Roberto I upgraded to pro plus last time. There are many automation software but kantu is easier to use and the development is active. Maybe the price is a bit step, but other automation tools are pricier and not so intuitive.

Some features are quite unique, its a good software to keep in my toolbox.

Check the *about us* page on their site and you will see why the devs know a bunch about automation.

Having the a free version available is very kind of their part, you only need the pro version for scripting.

I recommend it.

disenchanted I was not familiar with this particular program until I saw it listed here on BDJ.
[Another reason to stop by BDJ "daily". To see what software programs are out there that one might not know about]

Questions:

1. How does this program compare to programs such as:

-Ubot
-Zenniposter
- iMacros

Thanks in advance.

Richard Blake more info for the undecided:
Editions Comparison: https://a9t9.com/kantu/compare
User Manual https://a9t9.com/kantu/docs
EULA: https://a9t9.com/kantu/eula
https://a9t9.com/about

One way to cut the price at the higher end would be to have a Pro Plus edition that includes only one developer edition.

Or you could offer the Player license separately. That would allow one to purchase the Pro edition, learn the product for a while and accumulate an inventory of scripts intended for specific audiences (general public or various specialized topic areas), then acquire a Player license when ready to begin selling these scripts.

[Oh, from the iOpus people! I bought an iMacros SE license (v7.4) through BdJ back in 2011. Never found the time to become proficient. Perhaps this will be easier to master.]

Any plans to support other browsers, Opera, for example? Or are others not well-suited to support extensions?

Mathias User Hi Disenchanted, To answer your question "How does this program compare to programs such as: Ubot, Zenniposter, iMacros"?

The key difference is that KantuX works visually first, just like a human does. Leave DOM, xpath, css selectors to the web developers. And even if you are a web developer – KantuX's visual approach speeds up web automation dramatically (if you need DOM level commands, KantuX supports them as well).

Visual automation is much faster to learn, and - very important - it is much easier to maintain created macros when the website changes. And it is more fun, too ;-.)

Richard Blake Will a KantuX Desktop Pro user have any need to keep the current KantuX (Browser) installed? (In other words is Desktop Pro a superset of the current product? If so, then only one product needs to be installed and (very important), maintenance (or upgrade) fee would then be paid only on Desktop Pro. Maintaining both products would get very expensive.

What is the annual maintenance fee for KantuX Pro? What is the upgrade fee (as a percentage of [list] price), for those not on annual maint? Will comparable prices apply to KantuX Desktop Pro?

When a cross-upgrade is done, does the user still have only a single license, now for Desktop Pro (and restricted to one desktop and one laptop), or can the KantuX Browser Pro license continue to be used on another computer (e.g. a home desktop)?

Will the same player run scripts developed under either KX Browser or KX Desktop? (Or, if there is a separate player for each product [as I think more likely], will the KX Desktop player play scripts developed under either product, so that a user with Desktop player will not also need KX Browser player?)

Is the player restricted to playing scripts from a specific developer, so that someone who had scripts from several developers would need multiple copies of the player?
Apr 17 at 3:20pm Copy Link
1
Mathias User >Will a KantuX Desktop Pro user have any need to keep the current KantuX (Browser) installed?

No (separate products)

>What is the annual maintenance fee for KantuX Pro?

One year of free upgrades and support is included in the license fee. Additional years are 25% (completely optional).

>... or can the KantuX Browser Pro license continue to be used on another computer (e.g. a home desktop)?

Yes

> separate player for each product [as I think more likely],

Yes

> Will the same player run scripts developed under either KX Browser or KX Desktop?

No. The web player is technically a modified Chromium browser, the desktop player controls the user's desktop... both use the same image recognition and OCR engine, but automate something different.

>Is the player restricted to playing scripts from a specific developer, so that someone who had scripts from several developers would need multiple copies of the player?

Absolutely not - a player can replay scripts from anyone and any source.

Thanks for the good questions!

Richard Blake Thanks for the quick replies.

Still unclear about overlap in product capability. I understand that KX Browser and KX Desktop are separate products, and that KX Browser will continue to be sold. But if I have Desktop, can I use it to automate browser sessions (Firefox and Chrome), as well as everything else on the desktop? That is, would I have no further need to use KantuX Browser to develop new scripts? Or are there situations where I would create scripts using KX Browser, either because it does things that cannot be done with KX Desktop or because KX Browser would produce a 'better' script?

Can scripts for Browser Player be translated (automatically) into Desktop Player scripts, or would the developer who wished to migrate his scripts to Desktop Player need to recreate them using KX Desktop?

Is KantuX Desktop a program for Windows? (The page does not say.)
What is the minimum Windows version?
Is a Linux version a possibility?

Is the web player available in a form that can be installed on a Chromebook, or does it run only on Windows?

Can scripts call other scripts, pass and return parameters (by value; by reference), read and write files, do other fun [or dangerous] stuff? [I realize the best answer is to download and install the product and play with it, but there is little time for that before the BdJ offer expires.]

Are scripts saved as plain text, so they can be edited by the developer, or must they be re-recorded to effect changes? If plain text, is there a program to check them for errors? Is there a debugger / stepwise player?

Are scripts encrypted for delivery to the end user? (They may contain passwords, account numbers or other sensitive values, and I'm sure developers want to protect their work. Also this would protect them from being altered by malware.)

disenchanted In reviewing the comparison page, it would seem the main differences between Pro and Pro Plus are:

1. How many hours of assistance, like script creation, is available [3 vs. 5]

2. The "Distributed Player" is provided for FREE, to buyer's of the Pro Plus version.

3. OCR - I thought I saw something earlier about 2 different OCR engines used in Pro vs. Pro Plus, but I cannot seem to locate that information at this time.

Questions:

1. If a person buys the Pro version and then later comes up with a super useful script that needs the "Player" [for distributing their app], what are their options?

a. How many "distributed player" licenses actually come with the Pro version?

b. Can additional "Distributed Player" licenses be "bought as needed"?

c. Or must all Pro users needing more "player licenses" simply UPGRADE, from the Pro version, to the Pro Plus version?
(in order to distribute their app with a Free player).

2. If a buyer does purchase the Pro version now, then a few months from now finds that they need more player licenses, is there any "existing customer" type of discount if they need to UPGRADE to the Pro Plus version?
( if upgrading is the ONLY way available, to get more distributable Player licenses).

3. OCR licensing - I noticed on your website, top menu, near right side, an OCR drop-down menu.

I noticed are 2 Paid OCR plans mentioned, a PRO one and a PRO PLUS one, at $24/95/month and $49.995/month, respectively. [at https://ocr.space/ocrapi]. :

(I assume these monthly fees are for "heavy users" of the OCR API).

-----------------------------------------That page says, quote -------------------
The OCR API has three tiers/levels. If you want to use the free tier register here for your free OCR API key. It has a rate limit of 500 requests within one day per IP address to prevent accidental spamming.
-----------------------------------------end of quote--------------------------------

a. are these API calls counted from any and all scripts, that a KantuX user ever distributes, that mentions that particular KantuX developer's API key??

b. If so, are there ways to Limit how many OCR API calls a distributed player script can OCR per day?

c. Or, can a "free OCR API key" be used on all distributed scripts, so that the actual end user themselves "may" have to sign up for an OCR plan, IF that end user is a heavy API user?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Mathias User First about a desktop vs web automation:

>But if I have Desktop, can I use it to automate browser sessions (Firefox and Chrome), as well as everything else on the desktop?

Yes, you can. But the difference is: Desktop automation - by its nature - allows only one session at a time (only one app can control the mouse). And it can not run in the background. It takes over the desktop or virtual machine.

By contrast, with KantuX PRO web automation the automation runs *inside* the KantuX Chromium browser - so you can run many instances at ones, and even run the automation completely hidden in the background ("headless"). This is the key difference.

Mathias User >Can scripts for Browser Player be translated (automatically) into Desktop Player scripts

Yes. As we use images, desktop automation macros and web automation macros can be translated easily (just change the file extension)

> Is KantuX Desktop a program for Windows?

Windows 7 and higher

>Is a Linux version a possibility

Possible, and on the long-term todo list.

> Is the web player available in a form that can be installed on a Chromebook, or does it run only on Windows?

Sorry, no Chrome book support at this time. But we have ideas for partial Chrome support in the future.

=> *Exactly!*

The OCR feature is the same in PRO and PRO Plus, and fully included in the price.

The other information you mentioned is about our OCR API (see https://ocr.space/ ). This service is a different product. But as you might guess, KantuX uses our OCR.space ocr engine inside, so all works together. The overall goal of our company is to convert the recent advances in computer vision into usable products for robotic process automation (RPA).

Yes. You can also upgrade later by just paying the difference in price plus a $20 fee. But note that the BitsDuJour discount would no longer be valid then.
