winton guy I read that logo design studio has malware and adware on it. Can someone please explain?

WOT says the vendors website is suspect.

I do really want to get this but of course I'd rather play it safe

Stephen Kreyling I have used the program for a few years. I have not gotten any malware reports and I use outpost security and malwarebytes.

Summitsoft Corporation winton guy, Summitsoft has been in business for nearly 20 years and we are a reputable company. Not sure why our website would be flagged as suspect...

We had a brief problem with an earlier version of our regular Logo Design Studio being infected with malware, but that was found and fixed over 5 years ago and this was not related to our Pro version at all.

Louis H First off, Jason, thanks for begin around to answer folks questions.

My main question is two fold...

1) What is the version number?

and....

2) Are there any updates coming in the near future?

Well, ok, a third question...

Has the issue concerning being able to rotate single objects, which has required a less than user friendly workaround, been fixed?

Thanks!

Summitsoft Corporation Louis H, the current version is 1.5 and yes, we are actually about to release a minor update (1.6) within the next month or so. This update will fix the rotation issues and many other outstanding quirks and issues. This upcoming update will be free to users of Logo Design Studio Pro.

Bob Harris I went to your website to take advantage of the Christmas Sale (DEC75) and found that you are charging an additional 9.99 for shipping on a product that I would be downloading from the net. Why are you charging a shipping fee?

Louis H Thank you, Jason!

As I mentioned, even without the fix for the rotation issue, from watching the video review I was able to determine that your program is a great value - especially at a very nice discount - and something I will actually use. With the fix in place, well, then it becomes an even better deal.

Cooler That's the software I recommended to a friend last year and he's been very happy with it. If i ever need logo design, I'll just let him do it for me.

winton guy,
The name of WOT is full of irony. It was (at a time) good idea gone bad. Trust has nothing to do with WOT. Money is.

Jason Hogrefe,
Your web site may have been flagged for several reasons. It may have been one of your competitors, one annoyed customer, or as a part of "mass evaluation" (read: blind flagging). Even critical view of WOT often results flagging web sites connected to critical person.

It's a wonder how people trust WOT which really reminds more like certain other "pay up or else" organizations.

Lito Just as a note, I purchased this a few minutes ago, and at checkout it asks you if you want to add a few addons 2 are a Alphabet and sports pack, and you can find info about it on the web page under the addons for the logo design studio pro menu, but the 4000 font offer I couldn't find any info at all. I passed on it because there was no page with samples or any other info, that's an oversight and I just wanted to let you know.

Eric Pilote Like Carl said the dec75 coupon code does not work even though it's being accepted as a valid code.

No big deal, I used the bitsdujour code , it's still a good deal.

Lito: The fonts are installed in "Your documents " folder in the "LogoDesignStudio Pro Fonts" sub folder.

Bill Sech Just purchased Design Studio Pro. Downloaded it and installed. Most went well. So far in a few minutes of testing the program seems to work good. The installation was painless. However be warned, the download is a 1.3 gigabyte file. Optionally at purchase you can buy a cd, or dvd copy.

Tore Hoyem The food and drink may be slowing down my brain, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to add (or delete) nodes on Bezier objects once they have been created.

I have checked the help files, Googled for answers and looked for a support forum on their site.

I know this is not the place for technical support questions, but it also feels inappropriate to post a support ticket over something so basic.

Does anyone know?

peter hayes G'Day,

Cannot find this information on the website, can this program open or import .wmf format files and can it work with .ai illustrator files?
Dec 29 2012 at 3:37am Copy Link

Summitsoft Corporation the 750 fonts are not automatically installed, but saved into your Documents folder in a folder for Summitsoft Fonts.

The application can open SVG files, but does not support .ai files (you can export .ai files as .svg files and bring them into our program though).

Lito @Eric - thanks for the info, I didn't even check the my documents folder.

Played with the program a bit and ran into a few issues with the tools:
Pen tool - says it's freehand but it is not. It is also working backwards for me on the horizontal axis (left/right are reversed).
Pencil tool - is freehand for me
Line tool - seems broken. I can't draw a straight line, it seems to always snap to a grid, but I can't find a way to turn off grid snapping. So my workaround was to make a 2 segment polyline to make a line.
Direct Selection mode does not allow you to select multiple points and adjust them, you can only adjust one point at a time. It's a big drawback IMHO. If I make a shape with the polyline tool and want to move say the 3 left most points, you'd think you could shift or ctrl select the 3 points and move them together, but you can't you have to move each of the 3 points manually which makes things more difficult.

A user interface quirk, in the Advance tools, when modifying a shape stroke. The slider bar looks like it is the only way to adjust the value, but you can edit the actual number by clicking it. I think you need to put the value into a textbox looking control because it doesn't look like it is editable but it is.

peter hayes G'Day,

Thanks Jason for the answer on .ai files, but what about working with .wmf files, i have a load of them that i work with, sent to me in this format and i want to find a reasonably priced vector editor (read cheap) to edit and manipulate them also if .wmf format is available, does it handle the transparancy layer for them?, also does Logo Design Studio Pro handle layers?

Thanks.

Eric Pilote Lito: There are quite a few issues indeed.
Hopefully a patch will solve some of the issues.
You're right about the line tool, I just tried it and weirdly enough you can't draw an horizontal or vertical line.

An easy fix for this is to draw a diagonal line and use the "direct" tool to change the angle.

Some things I found:
-The links to legalzoom in the help file and in the help menu are wrong.
-It seems that the Boolean feature only works with "primitive" shapes.
-The help section about the Boolean future called "Combining shapes" is in either japanese or chinese .

nessa mia Hi, I just purchased the 4.0 version (and all 3 supplemental packs) by mistake off your website (meant to purchase the Pro version + packs). I haven't installed anything yet. How can I switch the products? I paid via PayPal and the DEC75 coupon was applied. Thanks!

UPDATE:
I just got an automated email saying they can't cancel my order but I can request a refund via your online customer service system. The problem is logging into that system requires the order number and password (system doesn't recognize my order number, too recent perhaps?, plus I don't have a password either) or the email and credit card used (but I paid via PayPal so doesn't apply). Your assistance will be greatly appreciated!

Javier Gil About the 1.x gigabyte file, does your server allow "resume downloads"? I'll need to use a download manager.
I'm also interested in the multiple layers question that others have posted and the horizontal line bug...

Summitsoft Corporation nessa mia, I can issue a refund for your purchase so don't worry about that. It will take a few business days to get back to you. In the meantime, purchase the Pro version so you don't miss the offer.

Lito The "layer" system does not work the way I was expecting it to work. I was kind of thinking it was like photoshop's layers but it's nothing at all like it. The layers list basically lists all the objects on your canvas in the order you have made them. The Layers list only lets you select items, lock, and hide them. To actually adjust the order at which things are drawn on screen, the home tab has 2 buttons Front and Back, which lets you move each object in front or behind another. It's a less intuitive interface then going to the layers list then dragging an object up or down the list to order them. The Front/Back buttons are really inefficient here because of the ribbon interface. When you press the front/back buttons it drops down a menu of move front/back or move front/back 1 layer. It would be better with 4 buttons than 2 buttons dropping down a menu especially if you wanted to press the 1 layer options a couple of times.

You can add multiple Canvases but each one does NOT work like a layer. They act like 2 independent pages that are part of your project. So you can't make one canvas transparent and see the other canvas underneath (to try and make a pseudo layer system like Photoshop uses).

Also there is no renaming the layers which is an issue for me. If you use one of the premade objects, it shows up on the canvas, but in the layer list it is shown as a bunch of commands like "pen, pen, pen, pen, pen, pen, pen" for one item I added. You can group those object, but then that layer is called "group". You can't rename them or put a description of what this layer is, so if you have a lot of objects, and are selecting via the layers list, it's trial and error to find the object you need.

Strangely even with the issues I have with the program, I do like it, but it has more features it needs to add and bugs fixed before I'd say it's in a Pro category.
