Used in conjunction with all the other spam tools in MailWasher Pro 2012, you get an unbeatable spam-slamming tool!

There's a whole host of bonus features that come with MailWasher Pro 2012. Robert Bull I leave a lot of mail on the server, as a precaution against aborted runs and in case I want to test other email clients. My regular e-mail client is set to delete old messages, as and when I see fit. Last time I tried Mailwasher (some years back) it didn't keep note of what messages I'd downloaded so far, and insisted on starting from the first message in each account. I had to repeatedly go through each account and train it anew. Then, one day, for no reason that I could understand, it started deleting old messages. I abandoned it at that point. Have these problems been overcome, please?
Monday at 7:00am
Nick Bolton Hi Robert

I can't say we've had any issues like this where it would delete old messages. It does have auto-delete spam functionality but this has to be turned on. If you're leaving messages on the server, then there's also usually a setting to only leave it on the server for X days, after which the old messages drop off, so if I'm not mistaken, it could have been this.
But I'm pleased to say, Mailwasher now downloads the most recent emails first when checking, so you won't have to go through the old emails first to get to your most recent messages.

Bennet Immanuel @Vendor,

Is this offer includes lifetime upgrades? Please confirm.
Monday at 10:05am
Nick Bolton No, the price doesn't include lifetime upgrades. There's an annual, 2 or 3 year license.

Brian Westerman If I already own Mailwasher pro, can I extend my license with this discount for another 3 years?
Monday at 6:46pm
Nick Bolton Yes, you sure can. It will just get appended on to your existing license.

Joe McCormick How many computer can I run your program on?
I have two desktops and a laptop in my home.
Tuesday at 9:14am
Nick Bolton Each license allows you to run it on 3 computers, so in your situation you'll only need 1 license.
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Tuesday at 10:54am
Joe McCormick I have been trying the trial version for the last few hours. It installed OK and and found 4 of my email accounts. It would download some of the emails buy not all. I kept getting "Check Mail" requests or "Failed to log in to POP3 server.

I have an Earthlink account that already has a Spam and Suspect folders that your program does not seem to recognize. Is there a setting I am missing the it will read them? The normal inbox it read with no problems.
Tuesday at 3:51pm
Nick Bolton Hi Joe, it should import all the settings correctly unless you're using an unsupported email client (for importing accounts) like Eudora or Pegasus Mail.

Probably best if you can email me directly at nick.bolton@firetrust.com and include the logs (Go to HelpUser Files, send me the Accounts.xml file then go to the logs directory and send me the log files in there from today. Then it will tell me exactly what is going on and I should be able to tell you how to fix it.

J Scott Nick, I've loved Mailwasher a long time and bought back in the 3.x-6.x era (before Firetrust). The move to annual (2010, 2011, 2012) releases has me confused about the licensing, though -- I bought MW 2010 on a promo back when it was current but something made me think it was a "timebomb" and would stop actually looking up spam after the 1-year license was up. I actually never ended up installing it due to this (didn't want to lose training, etc) and stuck with my trusty 6.54. I'm curious if I totally misunderstood that-- does 1 year just mean you only get 1 year of upgrades, or does the software lose functionality after the 1 year (or whatever the license term is) is up?

I will say the 3 year pricing looks very attractive. Thanks for offering this here!

Nick Bolton Hi there,

With the 20XX versions onwards we have moved to a software as a service/rental model which is $20 a year to pay for upgrades, support and real-time spam blocking (which we used to do for free for the past 10 years), so currently if don't renew the sub, then the 'Wash Mail' functionality ceases to work. You won't lose any settings etc, so as soon as you pay the subscription, you'll be able to 'wash mail' again.
We're also moving to a cloud based Mailwasher, so you get browser, desktop, tablet, mobile versions all included for the annual cost. We'll be releasing test versions of these very soon.

Nick Bolton I forgot to mention, each license can be used on 3 computers.

David Hyre Can MailWasher un-bury a spam-bombed account on HostMonster? I use only the web interface, so I guess I'm asking if MW will tag and delete spam on their server. I have other accounts I'd tie in, but the HostMonster one is the cause for looking into user-controlled spam filters. Thanks.

Blair Jones DEE-lighted that this came along -- my license is expiring soon & I'm happy to be able to add on another 3 years at a reduced rate. Will it be clear & easy how to do it as an "extension" rather than a "new license"?
Rod Hogarth After seeing Nick Bolton's reply which assured us that a purchase from here would simply extend the expiry of an existing licence of MWP, I now find that my licence which was due to expire on 20-Aug-13, now expires on 3-Feb-13.

@Nick: Please assure me that this blunder will be swiftly rectified.
Nick Bolton Mikkel: Yes you will need to turn off automatic send/receive in your email program. Usually you just leave Mailwasher to sit there and auto check every few minutes, then after you've 'washed the mail', your email program will open and do an automatic send/receive.

David: I see Hostmonster supports POP3, so yes you can enter these POP3 settings in to Mailwasher and remove all the spam from it. See https://my.hostmonster.com/cgi/help/393

Blair: Yes it will be an extension, but as Rod found out below it wasn't working correctly. I'll manually go through anyone who's renewed like this and adjust this and get our developers to fix it.

Rod: I've changed your license to reflect the 1 year renewal, apologies about this as it should extend. I'm getting the developers to look at this today
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Yesterday at 11:14am
Mikkel ericcson I am interested in this product, but as I understand it I have to turn off the automatically check for new messages in my email client, resulting in having to click "send/receive" every time I want to read my email, is this correct?
Blair Jones Glad to hear the "extension" problem will be taken care of, though my expiration date is pretty close anyway -- but now you won't have to remind me to renew. :-)
Nick Bolton Hi Mikkel: See answer above in reply to your first comment.

Sarah: Sorry you received a bad response from our support, I wasn't able to track down an existing email from you so I'm unsure what was relayed to you. The sub starts from the date of purchase. So if you installed it, then you can run it for 30 days for free, then buy it and you'll get 1 year from that purchase date.

Blair: Actually there was no issue, except you had bought a new license key instead of renewing the existing license key you had.
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Yesterday at 2:12pm
Blair Jones I guess I just don't understand how it's supposed to work, then -- will my new extension (or new license, or whatever) expire 3yrs from today or 3yrs from when my current license expires (in a few weeks.) Should I delay activating the new license? Still a good deal, I just want to know what I'm supposed to do or what to look for on the exp. date (after you have a chance to go through things.) Thank you.
Nick Bolton Blair: Since it was a new license key it would normally be from today, but I've adjusted it now to from when you previous license expires. Just make sure you're using the new license key which you purchased today.
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Yesterday at 2:48pm
Nick Bolton Hi Fredrick, thanks for the feedback. I guess we didn't really think people would buy a bunch of license keys and use them year after year, but I'll be happy to honor your intentions by extending your existing license key. Can you please send me an email to nick.bolton@firetrust.com and I'll do that, plus also please forward me the support email correspondence you received. Thanks!
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Yesterday at 3:08pm
Blair Jones Thanks very much. New license key plugged in & showing new exp. date just fine, 2012 version installed w/o a hitch.
Ralph Bressler I may be missing something here but I don't understand the need for the program. I use Thunderbird and seldom get any spam at all. If I want I can set up filters on the program itself without adding another level of complexity...and another cost. Would anybody like to tell me why I would need this program.
Nick Bolton Sure Ralph, lots of people like to preview their email before it gets to their computer and remove the spam, viruses, newsletters etc so they never get to their inbox and clutter everything up. Mailwasher allows you to quickly do this so you don't have to wade through it the unwanted stuff and therefore allow you to keep a tidy inbox. Plus if you're removing junk before it gets to your computer then you've got less chance of getting infected with email laden malware.
Mailwasher also allows you to inspect details of suspect email more than a lot of email clients allow you.
Firetrust Limited Vendor - Yesterday at 4:52pm
J S Dear Nick Bolton,

I have mainly used Gmail's own webmail access over the last few years but I'm sick of the changes ans want to go back to an "on computer" email solution which also means (happily) going back to using Mailwasher.

As an original version (v6.x.x) Licensed owner as well as having bought the 2010 upgrade that Firetrust offered to the original owners:

Q1. What's the difference between 2012 and 2010?

Q2. better yet is there a comparison (spreasheet or tick list) page showing all 3 versions and their features (or what they lack by comparison) on the Firetrust site?

I may be incorrect but I thought I could use 2010 forever, however it looks as though Pro 2012 only has a limited '12 months of use' license (forgive me if i'm wrong as I haven't been able to read all of the above comments as time was limited).

One final question: If I update to 2012 version do I definitely lose the lifetime use that I had with the previous 2 licensed versions.

I'm happy to accept a private email if you don't wish to (or dont have the time too) post the answers on Bitsdujour-com.
Nick Bolton Hi JS, nice to see you back.

In reply to your questions.
1. Essentially the 2012, is a follow on from the 2011 version, which is a follow on from the 2010 version. So, more features, bug fixes etc. If you have a paid up license, then you'll always have access to the latest version.

2. We've really only got the old 6.54 version and the 20XX versions. There's definite benefits to the 2012 version, but some people like the old version with it's grey look and it's faster loading with older computers. The only thing the 20XX version doesn't have at the moment is stats, but they will come soon. But it has many other features. We're also working on a browser, mobile and tablet version so you'll get all those with your subscription.

3. We decided to make people renew otherwise we’d run in to all sorts of issues with people who didn’t renew but wanted bug fixes which were in future versions, or people who ran very old versions and expected it to run on newer versions of Windows etc, so we decided to make it mandatory to renew so everyone would always have access to the latest versions. MailWasher is quite a support intensive product due to the vagaries of email, so it makes sense to always be able to give people access to the latest versions. If you don't renew then the 'Wash Mail' functionality stops.

4. You can always use the old 6.54 version forever if you have an existing license key and it won't expire. We're still supporting it but ultimately we'd like people to update to a later version and give people a clear upgrade path.
