HJ B The product description here and on the product website should be made more concise and clear. As I understand it, as one browses the internet, one can save pages from various sites to one's computer. Then, regardless of whether you are connected to the internet, you can search the save pages for information. I have some questions:

1. Can you save an entire site in one shot, or must you save it page by page?

2. When you do a search can it be limited only to pages from a particular site or group of sites, or must you search the entire accumulation of save pages?

3. Some sites change their content. The description emphasizes the ability to search the old data, even if the current site has changed. Does the program give the ability to search the current, on line versions of sites you have saved. For example, if I save the home pages of ten newspapers, is the program able to utilize the save URL to search the current online versions of those homepages?

4. Some sites use flash and other devices to display data on a page. Will this program reach such data?

5. If I save a Google search, can I ask this program to compare the saved search to whatever would be the current version of the same search and report to me only the new links?

1. MetaProducts Inquiry saves only page you are currently browsing. To save the entire site please use our Offline Explorer product - it's the powerful offline browser application.

2. It can be limited to a certain folder of your stored pages tree view.

3. Program searches in the stored content only.
BTW, the stored pages know URLs of the original ones. It is easy to navigate to the current version of a page.

4. Program allows to save such pages. However, it cannot search in its data.

5. No, there is no such feature. Added to the development list, thank you!

MP Inquiry is the simple tool to save the current page to the handy categorized store, accessible right from your browser. It operates on the per-page basis. Good for researchers.

Offline Explorer is the more complex tool that can download entire sites, process them (datamining, filtering, etc.) It can schedule downloads, sequence them, use macros in URLs and paths. In some meaning it can be called the "superior" version of Inquiry, yes.

GCMATH After I donwloaded & installed this product- I decided to purchase this item - but I'm having trouble with the purchasing process ---

I clicked the BUY NOW button on BitsDuJour's website- a window opens where I can choose which version I want to purchase -
The Standard or the Professional Edition (which is advertised here on Bits today).
I click on the professional version - nothing happens --- I tried clicking (using my mouse) on several places in the window - to see if there was a button or something - but there is nothing.
The Window just stays open and the purchase process goes no further.
Has anyone else have a problem like this???
Or is it just me :(

Alexander Bednyakov bvssunnydale, MetaProducts Inquiry is not a portable application. There is no upgrade to the portable version of the program. However, this feature is planned for the future 2.0 version.

Rich OBrien I use MetaProducts Inquiry all day, every day, and have for many years. I'd be lost without Inquiry.
While Inquiry is very good and very usable now, I can hardly wait for upgrades which will fully integrate Inquiry into the super fast Chrome Browser and super fast Mozilla Firefox browser. The sooner I can leave the terribly slow Microsoft Internet Explorer browser behind, the happier I'll be.

When you take a look at Inquiry, go to the Thumbnails Tab under Options and make Thumbnails 490 by 490. That way when you point at each saved web page, you will see a very large picture of the web page that is about 5 by 5 inches on screen.

In the forthcoming upgrade, whichever thumbnail you choose will appear when you point at each folder full of saved web pages. I've been trying out a Beta release with this feature and it makes it much easier to find what you want by moving the mouse down a list of folders. You'll see.

George M When you convert the saved file into MHT or HTML are all features of the saved page preserved or are some lost in the conversion?

Also, can you convert a saved page to PDF with all page features intact? Thank you.

George, what page features do you mean? Inquiry should do the best saving a page as you see it. Please download the trial version of Inquiry from our site (http://www.metaproducts.c...dition.htm) and test it on pages you need to save.
Regarding export to PDF - the program doesn't have such feature yet. It is planned for 2.0 version.

Offline Explorer Pro and Inquiry Pro are like truck and passenger car. The first can do everything, but people use car in their everyday life.

You can download Offline Explorer Pro from http://www.metaproducts.c...er_Pro.htm and play with it to compare with MetaProducts Inquiry Professional: http://www.metaproducts.c...dition.htm.

MetaProducts Inquiry Professional 2.0 won't do everything Offline Explorer Pro can.
