Ron. Simply love using this product with my Samsung TV. So much better than the Samsung client. The DLNA built into the TV is so much easier to use when paired with the Mezzmo client.

Works great with my Google TV box too.

James Evans I don't know if my Samsung HDTV is DNLA. Can you tell me if Mezzmo will connect to a Samsung 58" Class (58.0" Diag.) 8000 Series 3D 1080p Plasma HDTV (2010 model), using network of course.

Ron. The Samsung web site or manual will tell you for sure. Mine are mid-range 2008/2009 models. Most anything they made since then probably has DLNA. There may be some low end models that do not have it. A 3D set almost certainly has it.

Paul Schumann Hi Faisal,

There is no Android client for Mezzmo as yet. We have both Android and iOS controller apps on our development plans and hopefully these will be released sometime this year.

If you already have a DLNA controller app (Android, iOS, Windows, etc.), then (since Mezzmo is a DLNA/UPnP media server) you will be able to use your app push content to your devices from Mezzmo.

Paul Schumann Hi Nick,

Mezzmo is a UPnP/DLNA media server that streams to any UPnP or DLNA device in your home. Unfortunately Roku boxes are not UPnP or DLNA compliant (they seem to use some private protocols for media streaming) so Mezzmo will not work with your Roku. Sorry about that.

Yes - the WD TV LIve media players/hubs are all UPnP and DLNA compatible. We have many 1000's of WD TV Live owners streaming media with Mezzmo daily.

Do you own a PS3 or an Xbox360? You can stream media to them using Mezzmo. Or, you may have a smartphone (iOS or Android) or a tablet (iOS or Android). There are free apps that let you stream media to them using Mezzmo. Also, most modern TVs and Blu-ray players have UPnP or DLNA. So, you may still have some devices in your home after all :) If you are unsure, just ask & I'll confirm for you.

Nick Katz Paul, I do have an Android tablet, Samsung Galaxy 10.1. Maybe I'll get it for that. Do you know what Android app I'd need on the tablet to make it work or what I should search for in the market?

Paul Schumann Hi Nick,

We recommend using iMediaShare together with RockPlayer (both are free Android apps). RockPlayer supports quite a lot of media formats. In Mezzmo, we have a device profile "RockPlayer" that needs to be set for the player. Go to the Media Devices dialog in Mezzmo to do this.

Cheryl Rutherford I agree with RON. I purchased this some time ago and the ONLY problem I see it has is that is DOES NOT HAVE FAST FORWARD FEATURES. So, if you watch anything from your Mezzmo, you must watch the entire video or listen to the media in its entirety.

But, it is so much better than the Samsung's DLNA built-in feature, which I have tried to get working for 8 months now, since we bought the Samsung 3D TV and I just cannot get it to work properly.

THIS IS AN EXCELLENT PRODUCT and I have tried them all.

Thanks for your kind words. With regards fast forward (FF), unfortunately Samsung TVs do not let you use the FF/REW buttons when streaming video. It's a Samsung firmware issue and not related to Mezzmo (all media servers have the same problem). As a workaround, you can use the skip buttons on your remote or the chapter button on your remote. My habit is to trial new software inside Sandboxie until it appears to cause no harm to my system. So like a frustrated ninny I spent two hours trying to get Mezzmo to connect to the TV while sandboxed. Of course it wouldn't.

After doing a real install Mezzmo worked flawlessly and automatically recognized the Samsung TV and two Samsung BD players without my having to make or change any settings whatsoever. Mezzmo displays like an App on the TV and is easy to navigate to music. My wife really liked to see the photos on the big screen.

One suggestion: the photos initially display in approximately 4x3 format but using the zoom feature they fill the screen in 9x16. However, each succeeding photo reverts to the 4x3 display. It would be nice to be able to lock the display to 9x16 format for awesome slide shows.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes - Mezzmo streams movies, music and photos to Android tablets and smartphones. We have many Xoom owners using Mezzmo daily. Mezzmo also streams to iPads and iPhones.

Great that you are up and running now. With regards the 4:3 ratio for displaying photos, Mezzmo simply streams the photo to your TV and your TV's firmware displays it. Typically there's a setting to permanently set the zoom feature on your TV, but if it is always reverting back to 4:3, then that may be a quirk of Samsung's firmware.
