Stealing information - or just reading it without permission - is a lot easier than it used to be. All you have to do is stick a USB thumb drive into a port, copy some files, and put the drive back into your pocket.

A lot of us are extremely careful to encrypt our backups and to protect sensitive information that we send over the internet. However, by not protecting our USB ports we unwittingly leave giant security holes readily available to would-be snoopers. Think how easy it is to copy almost any amount of private information and emails to a pocket-sized thumb drive!
