bugmenot I hope the discount is also available for the lifetime single OS version, because most people only use one OS all the time.
Oct 26 2012 at 7:13am
Miroslav Rajcic Unfortunately, no it is not :)
In the last year the price of the product was already cut down, and this promotion brings the most valuable license to quite a low level IMO. Perhaps next time, I need to see how this promotion goes.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 26 2012 at 7:21am
bugmenot @Miroslav:
No problem. As you said, the price is fair for the quality of your software. Even more so if the Android version gets most of the features of the desktop version (which I hope it will).

I wish you all the best with this promotion.
Oct 26 2012 at 10:57am
Danny I read this for value line at policy: You must install/register the software within 3 days, and cannot do so afterwards. Why is that again now?
Oct 26 2012 at 12:28pm
Roberto I think the policy is not clear, Miroslav said about this is not lifetime but i read "free upgrades" too.
Oct 26 2012 at 4:26pm
Mr_Yeh I would have been also more interested in a single OS life time licence deal.
Oct 26 2012 at 4:52pm
Miroslav Rajcic @Danny Thys
I don't want to have permanent price reduction or people coming to me with the coupon asking for promotion deal for example one month after the deal was closed.
I think everyone can agree that there must be some kind of "timeout" for this.

@Roberto
Not sure what you mean here, this is the most valuable - lifetime license.

@Mr Yeh
Perhaps next time.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 26 2012 at 9:51pm
Miroslav Rajcic @Don't BugMe
Even more so if the Android version gets most of the features of the desktop version (which I hope it will).
I'll need quite of lot of feedback here.

I wish you all the best with this promotion.
Thank you.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 26 2012 at 9:53pm
Danny Maybe my second question read over it, I asked: what version license is this? one or all OS platform?
Oct 26 2012 at 10:23pm
bugmenot @Danny & Roberto:
I'm not the developer, but looking at his comments here and the information on the product's homepage, it's clear that it is the all OS lifetime version. (So if you use Windows, Linux, Mac and Android or a subset of them it's a nice deal.)

@Miroslav: Is there a chance that NoteCase Pro will run on Raspberry Pi in the future?
Oct 26 2012 at 10:40pm
Danny There is indeed a verwarrung here. It Is now a liftime subscription upgrade or not? On policy gives the impression of though and the vendor here denies it. Please like to clear description, thank you!
Oct 26 2012 at 10:46pm
Miroslav Rajcic @Danny Thys
This is all OS, lifetime license.

@Don't BugMe
Is there a chance that NoteCase Pro will run on Raspberry Pi in the future?
Do you have an exact distro in mind? There might be musltiple distros for PI.
It all depends on how easy is to cross-compile for this hardware, I don't own the device.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 27 2012 at 12:21am
Miroslav Rajcic @Danny Thys
Strangely, I got the following comment notification, but I can not see it online:
“@Don't BugMe,
thank you for your comment! But that's the problem: the vendor here denies the what policy defines.”

Not sure what you refer to. The license is lifetime, I just require that you buy the license with the promotion day.
License validity time ("forever") is clearly listed in this field:
"Upgrade Policy - Free upgrades for life"

As I understood it, "License Registration Timeframe" field has nothing to do with the license itself, but with the user's need to act on the deal within some timeframe.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 27 2012 at 12:28am
Danny @Miroslav Rajcic

Thank you, that is at least clear plain language, TOP!
Oct 27 2012 at 12:30am
bugmenot @Miroslav:
I think Raspbian (www.raspbian.org) seems to be the standard distribution for RaspberriPi.

I plan to buy one or more RP in the near future and thought because of the high number of RP out there it would be a great feature for your software to run on them.

P.S.: I think the description text here should make it clear that NoteCase Pro runs on Windows, Linux, Mac and Android because that's the main feature that sets it apart from the competition.

Mary Wilson Although it looks like a nice program, I loaded the program to try the program. Found that I could not easily get the program to work and it keeps asking if it is a trial or a lite version. Going to the help section, I went looking for basic operating systems and did not find much at all. Tried putting something in and it was all deleted as I found out you must put the title on a separate title. Giving up, I deleted the program. I currently have My Journal, My Info, and NoteFrog. All three of these are fairly similar in function as are easy to use. I like the program as it looks a little bit stronge than what I have. Unfortunatly, if I can not get it to work, it is not worth the cost of $41.00 to purchase it. In addition, I am very confused with all of the above notes of how long this licence will last before I will have to purchase again. Is it life time or is it until the next version? Can I use it only on one system or both my system and my laptop.
Oct 27 2012 at 4:58am
Miroslav Rajcic @Don't BugMe
Thanks, I'll check Raspbian.

I think the description text here should make it clear that NoteCase Pro runs on Windows, Linux ...

Good idea, forwarded to bitsdujour folks.

@Mary Wilson
and it keeps asking if it is a trial or a lite version
You have a check box in that window to store your choice permanently and hide the window in the next run.

I went looking for basic operating systems and did not find much at all
Do you mean to get a list of supported platforms? You can find those listed on the download page here:
http://notecasepro.com/download.php

Is it life time or is it until the next version?
The license being promoted through this site is a lifetime license. You can buy other licenses directly through the program's website (but without promotion deal).

Can I use it only on one system or both my system and my laptop.
This is listed on the BitsDuJour License info section, field:
"License Use: May be used on 3 computers"

Let me know if you have more questions.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 27 2012 at 5:19am
Mary Wilson May be I was not clear enough. I meant to say that Basic operating directions (How to get the program to work) not Operating platforms. How to add data, How to delete data etc was missing. I could not get the program to work.
Oct 27 2012 at 7:08am
Miroslav Rajcic @Mary Wilson
You may be right with the help file, I'll make sure to fix this.

To add new note into the document, you need to use "Notes" "Insert Node" or "Notes" "Current Note" "Insert Child Note",
Alternatively just press "Ins" key when inside Tree View on the left to insert new note.
To delete note and its children, press "Del" key.

When saving to file, choose file format based on the fact if you want to encrypt the data or not (.nce and .ncde formats are encrypted formats).
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 27 2012 at 7:52am
Gopalakrishnan Tanjavur Ramaswami let me get this clear--the its a lief time license, with updates for how long?
Oct 27 2012 at 2:31pm
Software Guy All of the license terms of the policy seem very good EXCEPT
"You must install/register the software within 3 days, and cannot do so afterwards."
WOW - that isn't a very user friendly policy. I frequently buy software knowing that it will not get installed until it is needed. Or I am on travel, and purchase the software and will install after I get back home and have the time. So needing to install and register within 3 days sure doesn't work for me.
After you purchase the software, the user should be able to install at any time.
Oct 27 2012 at 8:05pm
Miroslav Rajcic @Gopalakrishnan Tanjavur Ramaswami
LOL, life time means that updates are for as long as product exists

@Software Guy
"After you purchase the software, the user should be able to install at any time."
I assure you I don't mean to force the "install" part because I can not even track when you install something. I meant to enforce the "register" part of the sentence, namely the promotion will be valid only 29, so you need to make your payment on 29th. That's what I call "registration" process.

Perhaps I need to set this value to 1 day to make it precise? Or n/a? I must admit that this value does not map precisely to my own registration process, so I had to chose some value here, but not in the sense of "install" part but "register" (AKA "buy") sense.

I hope this removes your issues with this.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 27 2012 at 9:32pm
Paul Merrell @Gopalakrishnan Tanjavur Ramaswami: Free updates in perpetuity, for as long as product updates are issued.
Oct 28 2012 at 12:14am
Mike B Are there plans for a support forum or is there an unofficial forum anywhere? This software looks very interesting, but I think I'll have a lot of questions about the best ways to do certain things, and I prefer to get that kind of learning by interacting in a forum rather than in an email back-n-forth.
Oct 28 2012 at 2:19pm
Oct 28 2012 at 6:06pm
Mr_Yeh @Mike B - I was wondering about the same thing. I am intrigued by this software but the apparent lack of a forum makes me wonder about how user needs are considered, how bugs are reported and dealt with, and how innovation will take place in the future. I prefer to buy software where there is an active support forum, as it shows commitment that the software will be around in the long run (though it's not a guarantee of course).

Danny Does anyone know the differences between AllMyNotes Organizer Deluxe Edition and NoteCase Pro? Thank you!
Oct 28 2012 at 10:55pm
Mr_Yeh @Miroslav - sorry, Paul's comment wasn't visible when I posted mine. Glad to see there is an active forum.
Oct 29 2012 at 4:35am
Miroslav Rajcic No problem, the feedback showed that lot of people do not have perception of the link buttons (including Google group link) on top of the NoteCase Pro home page :(
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 4:49am
Alan Sawyer Any chance that this can be setup to be portable? I'm not allowed to install software on my work computer, but if I could run from a portable drive it would be okay.
Oct 29 2012 at 4:55am
Miroslav Rajcic Windows editions can be installed as portable (to USB stick for example), just select "Portable" mode of installation in the standard installer.
Other editions (Linux, OS X, ...) do not have portable mode.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 4:58am
Stephen Zeoli If I understand correctly, the license with this purchase allows me to run NoteCase Pro on my Windows PC at work and on my MacBook. Can I open the same file from, say, Dropbox on both computers? What are the issues around doing this? Thank you.
Oct 29 2012 at 7:49am
Miroslav Rajcic @Stephen Zeoli
Yes you can run the both instances with the single license.
Dropbox would probably work OK unless you keep the document open in both instances at the same time (while doing the change), because Sqlite file locking mechanism might prevent the dropbox to update the second instance.

I am working on a sync server solution to support "native" solution for syncing the documents.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 7:56am
David Powelstock Hi,
Looks like a great program! I ordered about 40 minutes ago and immediately received a receipt from Kagi (the payment processor?) but have yet to receive a license key. How long should this process take?
Oct 29 2012 at 2:23pm
Miroslav Rajcic @David Powelstock
Hi David, I've just sent you a license. I live in Croatia and I am just preparing to go to sleep :) Others will get the license in the morning.

Note that the possible delay due to timezones is clearly described on the buy page: http://notecasepro.com/buy.php
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 2:32pm
Miroslav Rajcic @David Powelstock
Somehow I got another comment on mail that I can not see here in the website:
"Miroslav - syncing is important to me, too. If you have a chance, you might take a look at how "YouNeedABudget""

Will check the program, thanks.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 2:35pm
David Powelstock Thanks, Miroslav. Got the license! Sweet dreams.
Oct 29 2012 at 2:49pm
Paul Merrell @ Stephen Zeoli: I run NC Pro with files shared via Dropbox across four different systems. As Miro mentioned, there's the file lock issue with the SQLite-based native formas, but no such issue with the native flat formats. Those can be open concurrently on both systems but you risk losing unsaved changes if you make changes from both systems concurrently. However, NoteCase Pro will notify you if a file you have open has changed on disk.

It also helps a lot to synchronize other NC Pro data across systems so changes will propagate, e.g., scripts, AutoComplete phrase lists, AutoReplace docs, external icons, etc.

Stephen Cohen To Miroslav Rajcic:

I am in the Eastern United States, in the midst of a hurricane, so I may lose electric power at any time. I have registered, but, if I lose power, it may be days before I am able to access my email to get the registration code.
Oct 29 2012 at 4:54pm
Miroslav Rajcic @Stephen Cohen
No problem, there is no rush here. Just woke up, will send the license soon :)
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 29 2012 at 9:46pm
Danny Unfortunately, this Deal is not extended by 1 day. Is this product might not be as good or inpopulair?
Oct 30 2012 at 1:25am
Miroslav Rajcic @Danny Thys
"Unfortunately, this Deal is not extended by 1 day. Is this product might not be as good or inpopulair?"

Not sure I understand the logic behind this statement :)
This was a promotion deal, planned to be held for exactly 24 hours.
I don't plan to have permanent promotions.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 30 2012 at 1:49am
Danny @Miroslav Rajcic,

Most top softwares BDJ Deal let their pruducts extend Deal for 1 day (+ 24 hours) because of their success. That is why I asked!
Oct 30 2012 at 7:40am
Stephen Zeoli @Paul Merrell -- Thank you! I bought my license and am digging in.
Oct 30 2012 at 9:04am
Miroslav Rajcic @Danny Thys

There are few reasons for doing this, one of them also being the fact that it is not easy to extend the deal that depends on two other parties as well.
Miroslav Rajcic Vendor - Oct 30 2012 at 9:24am
Roger Thomasson @ Danny

Just because a product doesn't get extended doesn't make it unpopular or low quality.

Not sure why you think this, but please put a little more thought into your comments next time.
BitsDuJour Admin - Oct 30 2012 at 1:35pm
Danny @Roger Thomasson

Okay, I apologize for this!
Oct 30 2012 at 1:48pm
