I have used Nico's freeware version for years and always wanted to upgrade to the PRO version for the extra features, but had never got around to doing so.

HJ B It seems that this application makes some assumptions about the scanner, and does not have a means by which those assumptions can be quickly corrected.

I have a good quality scanner that permits sheets to be inserted shirt side first or long side first. The program assumes short side first, with the result that the part that is printed is facing in the wrong direction and half of it is missing, if the sheets are inserted long side first,.

When the sheets are inserted short side first, the scanner sends them through the middle of the scan field. The program assumes that width is standard paper width, and is justified to the right side of the scanner field. The result is that the printed copy is missing about an inch or so on its right side.

It would improve the program if it also had:

1. The ability to create several programmed options so that the detailed setting would not have to be reviewed for every copy job.

2. The typical scanner preview capability that permits orientation and size to be set by dragging over an initial scanned document.

3. The ability to impose a number and a header/footer on each printed document in a series.

4. A log of print jobs (date, time, number of originals, number of copies and ability to assign a client or project code. That would be helpful for billing or other accounting purposes.

Some of the foregoing features can probably be handled by going into the scanner's native settings for each print job; however, if one has to do that, one might as well not use this program.

I did not attempt to scan a document of mixed sizes (letter and legal). There are times when you have mixed paper sizes, but you want them all to print out on letter size. That means the legal size documents must be reduced. It is not clear weather this application is able to keep letter size at letter size and reduce mixed in legal size to letter size.

Many low end scanners now have a button that can be programmed to send the result to your printer. What advantages does this software provide over the use of the bundled software that comes with such scanners?

Perhaps there are means not in the document that can address these various problems. If not, one might as well skip this application and use software that came with your scanner or use Adobe Acrobat, rather than this program.
