Garvey Liu Presentation Pointer can be installed on, and run from a USB driver, but you must install the license for each computer.

David Powelstock Thank you very much for the reply, Garvey. Could you please clarify: do you meant that the pc you have your usb drive plugged into must have the license installed? I'm a little confused. The reason I asked in the first place: I'm a professor, and I would like to carry the program, together with my multimedia lecture content, to the several classrooms where I teach. Each room has its own PC, into which I plug my USB drive. There's no point installing anything on these PCs, since they get wiped and re-imaged every evening. How would this work with your licensing scheme? Thanks!

Garvey Liu Installation of the program purchased under a Single-User License is restricted to one single personal computer owned by or under control of the licensee plus two additional computer also owned by the licensee. Activation is required on each computer.

I would advise you to buy our Portable License which allows you to install the software on a removable device (for example, on a flash drive or on a removable hard drive) and work with it on various computers from this removable device without additional registration on every computer.

VLM When you say 2 years of upgrades, do you mean that at the end of 2 years, the product stops working? Or does the current version (at that time) keep working, we just have to pay for further upgrades?

VLM PointerFocus seems to have fewer features. I do notice one feature, which they call "keystroke visualization", which enables you to "show your audience which shortcuts you have just pressed". Does the Presentation Pointer/Presentation Assistant family have similar functionality?

Alain Lesage Sorry about the mistake on my previous post. I had bought PointerFocus a while back at 15 $ and at that time all updates were free.
Now, I will try to answer my own question.
The main advantage I could see for Presention Pointer is that it is more customizable : it has 4 fancy cursors, and various shapes for highlight and spotlight, you can even choose your own hotkeys, something you cannot do with PointerFocus.
On the other hand PointerFocus is cheaper and simpler (that might be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on your needs) and it includes a screen magnifier feature, which is quite handy.
If I didn't already have PointerFocus, I might consider Presentation Pointer, altough I consider the price of the updates to be out of line.

VLM Thanks for the update, Alain, and thank Garvey for your reply. These 2 features of PointerFocus do sound interesting, particularly the keystroke visualization. Heck, sometimes I could use such a feature for myself!! :) Would you consider adding features such as these. Seems like the keystroke visualization would be fairly easy to add, since you already have to capture the keystrokes anyway. Yes?

Garvey Liu Both, Presentation Assistant is handy for live presentation, and allows you to prepare a presentation, such as prepares whiteboard writings, pre-configure all programs or files to open and musics.

The screen magnifier feature, and a live zoom feature have been scheduled in our next version. The "keystroke visualization" is in Presentation Pointer and Presentation Assistant Pro.

So WRT Presentation Asst, Pro has a keystroke visualization-style feature (and including the portable version, I presume), but "standard" does not, at present.
