Pixel Perfect Measurement

Computers are great at many things - sorting long lists, computing averages of sales, giving us thousands of new and interesting ways to waste time every day - but sometimes they have a lot of trouble with some of the simpler ones. Like figuring out if two things on your screen are aligned, or are the same height or width.

And, no, our graphics programs don't always do that. In fact, they hardly ever do that, at least not how we want them to. We just want to know if the leftmost bits line up, or if the boxes in the page start and stop on the same lines.

So we were pretty happy when we found Screen Calipers. Not only does it measure anything on our screen, but does it without hiding what's underneath. So we know our measurements are exact and perfect.

Screen Calipers are a unique on-screen measurement tool, that let you measure anything on your computer screen with complete accuracy.

Today's Screen Calipers discount promotion includes the following license types:

S B I find this very useful as a help in software development to see the sizes (and indirectly ratios) of things as they are actually rendered on the screen.

The calipers can easily be moved around and rotated.

It's a bit awkward if you haven't used it for a while, but you quickly reacquaint yourself with its icons, its somewhat limited display, and its preferred work-style.

It could use an angle measurement, especially with "sticky angles" turned off (but that's another product).

It allows you to measure in pixels, cm, inches, points, etc., and your own custom pixel-based units. It allows you to specify the number of decimal places to see. It does remember these settings when it starts up. It doesn't, however show you what units-setting you are using, and its offers no direct help in calibrating custom units against pixels.

It has several nice skins: almost all exclusively aimed at specific functionality, but none eliminate the width its expandable ruler, and the rule ticks are always in pixels and are unnumbered.

Though I don't personally use it every day, Screen Calipers is an important product that I need. Recommended.

Ester Ester I like this program very much! Very easy used and really cool tool for webdesign and photo mastering. Recommend to all!

VLM Question about the Screen Tracing Paper additionally offered: I realize that you picture this as something for grown-ups, but do you believe a child would be able to use this software to draw things, measure them, count them, etc? Do you think a fairly young child could "get" the software? Just thinking of someone I know rather well. :):)

Duane Moore I downloaded the trial version and installed it. It was so crippled (no rotate) that it was unusable. When I went ahead and clicked on Buy Now, it brought up another screen. Clicking on Calipers (only), caused it to go into an indefinite wait. No thanks. Too hard.

carl thorpe I use Screen Calipers 3-4 times a week for web and graphic design work. It is an invaluable part of my work, and much faster than built in tools like guidelines in many software packages.

I have the whole measurement pack, and even though I don't use protractor and compass nearly as much, they are also outstanding programs.

VLM I wonder where the Iconico folks are. Usually they are quite present. Hope all is well with them, given Sandy and all that.

Nico Westerdale Duane, sorry you had problems, but everything seems to be working fine in the checkout for us!

Nico Westerdale VLM I think that a child might have fun with the Screen Tracing Paper. Actually there are some fun skins for the Screen Protractor too, take a look here:

Roderick Nicolson Hmmmmm! Something wrong here. It shows Screen Callipers up for grabs but after going through the process the Facebook page shows Easy Photo Sorter.
Help!

Constantin Florea @Roderick Nicolson - Could you please try again? Just to make sure, please clear your browser cache.
BitsDuJour Admin - Apr 7 at 2:50am
Roderick Nicolson Did what you said but it's still the same.
I'm wondering if the problem is that Screen Calipers is not really intended as a give away. It wasn't on the notifications, and I only noticed a link to it on one page only.
Anyway, it continues to take me to the Easy Photo Sorter facebook page.
