Simple Words delivers all major text formatting features your have come to expect from a Text Editor, including Character Formatting, Paragraph Formatting, Bulleted-Numbered Lists, and Styles and before you start to worry - tables. You can nest tables, split and merge table cells, insert and remove rows, and apply borders and shading to individual cells - Simple Words features access to a Microsoft Word® style table management UI, thus supporting many of the table management features you expect from a text editor. Whether it's pictures or text boxes, your documents can include any number of floating objects, with full rotation support.

Spellchecking? Simple Words supports Automatic Hyperlink Detection and Correction of Misspelled Words. Any dictionary can be added by simply dropping dictionary files (*.dic and *.aff) into Simple Words application directory. Dictionaries can be downloaded from OpenOffice.org website.

Cory Roberts The app uses the ever so trendy "Simple" word these days, but the app itself looks great. I think this might be one of the first Word alternatives with a user interface not reminescent of Word 2003?

Algorithms In Motion Co. Thank you! The application itself as well as user interface is indeed simple as Windows 8 guidelines suggests. Text editor is on other hand not so simple in terms of functionality. Not as monstrous as Word may be, but capable enough for any everyday activity.
While this is just first version of user interface with single-document environment in mind, new multi-document environment version is already in the testing and will be available in the couple of weeks. Looks more solid and handy than current version, if you ask me. )

Heidi-Ann Kennedy-Fourkiller Not very keen on companies that hide their WHOIS information.
Domain created less then a year ago. . . worried me that this is a fresh company in an unstable country.
No contact information located on web site either.

Algorithms In Motion Co. Indeed, some of the site areas is still in development. We are fresh company by any measure and like every other company from out there we have to start our on-line business from scratch. Our main products is well tested in actual production and our side products is based on some of our main products functionality. Later we going to introduce them on BitsDuJour and put some descent discount too.
All our products has 30 days trial period during which you can try out all functions and decide if you like it or not. Please, don't hesitate to try our other products too and tell us your opinion.

_*_ I wonder the reason for not combining your products (Sheets and Words) and creating a suite as well. The separate pricing is a bit too dear.

I currently use SoftMaker Office Standard 2012 which sells for $79.95 full price.

One of your products is two-thirds of that cost at full price. The two are more costly than three from SoftMaker.

They do look nice, and pleased you are here on Bits, but I simply struggle paying the price asked.

Algorithms In Motion Co. Thank you for your question! Indeed - right now we don't have Office bundle, we rather selling separate products, but our Simple Words and Simple Sheets has upselling offer - when you buy any of them you'll get another one by half of the price. Since we are new to this business, we opted to sell separate products here on BitsDuJour to accumulate statistics and balance the price later.
We will create Simple Office bundle when we collect feedback and adjusted our products functionality to suit our customers better. And of course we will promote it here with spicy discount.

Metta Zetty Does Simple Words include table functionality?

Algorithms In Motion Co. If you ask if you can create tables like you can create them in Word then yes - you can create tables and do anything you usually do in Word.

Cary Adams How does this compare with Atlantis Word Processor ($35 w/o discount). Atlantis has displaced LibreOffice for most of my word processing needs. And Atlnatis has an active forum for user support.

Algorithms In Motion Co. You are right - Simple Words can't compare to long history of Atlantis Word Processor simply because it was released just a couple of weeks ago. As for functions - you can be rest assured that Simple Words supports all of the text processing functions needed for your everyday activities as well. There will be active forum in the future too - we only just started.
Still, there many feedback from our users already and new version with multi-document UI is in the final stages of testing as well as numerous productivity enhancements that awaiting their time to be implemented.

Lewis WILLIAMS Lewis WILLIAMS:

Looks good.
Two comments - Where are the Preferences settable? - I'm greeted by page measurements in INCHES - we got rid of that stupidity more than 40 years ago.

Why is 20% of the page devoted to a huge BACK arrow & the title 'Simple Words' when the space they occupy could be more productively devoted to a much bigger work area?

Warmest Regards,

_*_ @Vyacheslav Isakov,

I installed the trial version and have a few questions/thoughts.

My system is Windows 7 and thus never used Windows 8. I am unsure if the large Back Arrow, and Minimize, Toggle Fullscreen, and Exit are Win8 typical, but the icons of these are what virtually every person use to already.

I agree with Lewis WILLIAMS above that better use of space could be utilized in place of the overly large wording.

Now, I cannot figure out how to open multiple documents. Also if this is even possible can you close without being sent back to the programs "desktop"?

The very first file I tried to open, opened within the program as a blank document with zero information displayed. It will open other documents but not the one I created with text and three pasted images from SnagIt.

That was my first 5 minutes with the program so I cannot speak to much else.

It is pleasant to look at, and I am not sure if this is how all Win8 programs look.

You are right - measurement settings should be added to ribbon bar. I have added this suggestion to priority list. Should be available in the next minor release.

As for window layout - it is typical for Windows 8 applications, we actually cut dozens of pixels to minimize navigation area a little. Minimize, Toggle Full screen and Exit buttons is there to adapt Windows 8 RT layout to desktop Windows applications behavior - you cant actually minimize Win8 RT application, neither you can change its size at will.

As for documents management - this is first version with single-document environment, but as I mentioned above, new multi-document environment version is in the testing already. It will be available in a couple of weeks.

Would you kindly send us the document itself, if it not private. We will analyze it and correct our import mechanism behavior. Our support mail: support@algorithmsinmotion.net

Thank you for your feedback!

Metta Zetty Was interested in trying the software, but decided against it since I'd have to pay for 2 licenses to use on each of my 2 computers. Any chance you'll change these terms to make them a bit more user friendly?

Specifically, I'd like to install SimpleWords in and run it from within Dropbox so I can access it from both my PC and my notebook computer.

Algorithms In Motion Co. Actually, we allow installation on TWO machines per one license. It can be either laptop, home computer or anything else. Total count of allowed active hardware prints is two either way. We apologize if our fineprint is not clear in this area.

You can either install our software on both machines or just copy .EXE file after installation to any directory you see fit - our software is fully portable. Just remember to copy Dictionaries directory too if you want spellchecker support. Also, you have to register our software on every machine to remove trial period. As i already said, you can register up to two machine footprints on one license. If you decide to move licence from one machine to another then just contact our support.

Thanks!

P.S.
Please, use trial version our software as much as you please. If you decide to buy it in the end, contact us to get personal discount.

Lawrence Gordon Just some general comments.

1. I like the interface, but I noticed that there is no "help" for the program. Is this going to be added at some point?

2. Some of my documents (.docx) are not opening in the program, but can be opened in Word 2013, Kingsoft Office 2013 and Softmaker TextMaker 2012. The program also crashes frequently, and there is no error log to refer to or to send to support.

3. The default document folder is c:\program files (x86\algorithms in motion co\simple words. It does not default to the \user\documents folder.

4. There is no menu for options or preferences, so no settings can be changed.

5. No support for column formatting (minor complaint)

6. I like the concept of the program and decided to buy it now because of the substantial discount offered. Simple Words can handle most of my word processing needs, is .docx compatible, and light on system resources; but I think it is unfinished, even as an initial release. Are you going to offer any incentives to those of us who bought the program when another major release is issued? Right now, I feel like I'm beta testing the program.

Thanks.

Thank you for your usefull feedback!

1. The help is going to be on-line in a couple of weeks, right to next minor release. Visit Homepage button is going to lead to Simple Words homepage. There will be Online help link. With our new multi-document evironment UI you will be able to switch back and forth between online help and your document.

2. We agree that our import mechanics need some tweaking, if you will be so kind to send us problemmatic documents for analysis, we will correct its behavior. As for logging - in the next minor release logging will be reworked to minimize user interaction and increase our support capabilities.

3. We have already working on this issue and in the next minor release last used folder will be default folder for next opened document.

4. What kind of settings you need to change? All text formatting settings is intented to be in document editor section and Tiles can be removed or changed in size by right clicking on them. Please, described your scenario and we well do what we can to implement it.

5. We will investigate this matter in more depth and move this issue to our "To DO" list as soon as possible.

6. We are sorry for any inconvinience we brought to you. As for future major release - it is a matter of long-long development cycle and we will release many minor and maintenance releases before we will be ready for next major release. We aiming at current auditory and we can assure you that we will prioritizing our users feedback.
