Version alert: Sothink Web Video Downloader v2.0 now allows you to convert your already-downloaded videos into a number of different formats (AVI, MP4, WMV, 3GP, MOV, MKV, SWF, MP3) and for a number of different devices (iPod, iPhone, iPad, PSP, Zune, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, mobiles).

Videos that are hosted on popular websites can be both a blessing and a curse. Because they're in Flash format, they take up very little space on a webserver, so a site like YouTube can carry hundreds of thousands of hours of content. But that also makes it harder for you to watch your favorites whenever you want -- sometimes you can't find them, they've been removed, or the playback is slow and stuttery because the video is streaming over a very busy server.

You can avoid all of these problems with Sothink Web Video Downloader! Sothink Web Video Downloader automatically detects, captures, and downloads videos from YouTube, MSN, Google and many other video sites, including blogs! Best of all, Sothink Web Video Downloader doesn't just work with Flash videos - you'll be able to detect and download online video in many formats, including flv, wmv, asf, avi, mov, mp4, m4v, 3gp, rm, rmvb, and many more. Downloading is seamless -- as soon as Sothink Web Video Downloader detects video in any of these formats, it will prompt you to download the video with a single click of your mouse!

Once you've captured online videos to your hard drive, you can enjoy them on demand using Sothink Web Video Downloader's integrated Flash Video Player. Are you a power user who uses more than one brand of internet browser? Sothink Web Video Downloader has you covered, and is fully compatible with Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Opera browsers, and gives you the option to add even more browsers to the list.

You'll be amazed at the power and flexibility of Sothink Web Video Downloader's download manager. With full support for multiple concurrent downloads, resuming interrupted downloads, and download history tracking, you'll wonder how you ever got along without Sothink Web Video Downloader!

Michael Crosson Beware! I purchased similar software from Sothink in the past when it was offered here (the YouTube downloader). I installed it on my desktop and my laptop. The software "phoned home" and SoThink deactivated the license on both computers. Thus, the software was a total waste of money. Multiple e-mails to SoThink did not resolve the problem. With so many other free and low cost options out there, skip this and choose a publisher that has better customer service and more realistic and reasonable licensing policies.

Nelson Therrien I have few Sothink softwares (installed on both my desktop and laptop) without any problem. I have the SWF Decompiler and SWF Quicker...

The question is more: what's the difference between that paid version and the Free Firefox Web Video downloader (besides the fact that this one is for Firefox only, which is the browser I use anyway...)

Keith Norton I can't speak to the issues in M Crosson's comment, but the ULA policy is for one machine. I've tried the software out and am impressed. I just purchased three licenses. Two issues with the purchase process: First, they try to get you to switch products during the purchase (I'm not sure if selecting the switch would screw BDJ out of their share). Second, there is no way to buy more than one copy at a time. I had to go through the process separately for each license. Still, it looks like great software at a great price.
