Have Any Text Read Aloud By Your PC

Our daily lives are filled with reading! You read your email, you read web pages, you read critically important documents as part of your job - you're even reading right now! Imagine how much more you could get done if you free up your eyes to do other work, while still receiving all of the information from your reading material. What am I talking about? I'm talking about LISTENING to text using TextAloud 3.0, the world's most popular text to speech utility!

TextAloud 3.0 reads your email, websites, reports, and more, aloud. You can also use TextAloud 3.0 to save your daily reading material to audio files in MP3 or Windows Media format, which you can then play back on your iPod, PocketPC, even your television using Tivo! And while you're listening to all of this text, you could be doing something else -- cleaning, exercising, cooking, you name it! It's also great for proofreading your writing. You may have missed the same word over and over while reading, but when you hear it mispronounced, you'll know for sure!

I know what you're thinking -- robot voices will be the death of you. Not with TextAloud 3.0! TextAloud 3.0 is compatible with a huge party of lifelike, sonorous, and entertaining 3rd-party voices that will make it a pleasure to listen to even the driest material!

Today's TextAloud 3 discount promotion includes the following license types:

CJCotter Hello. I have a license for TextAloud 2 which I bought years ago. No free upgrades?
Feb 4 at 4:31am
Rick Ellis Hi CJ,

Major upgrades are not free, but previous TextAloud buyers can purchase at a discount from the regular $29.95 price. However, it's not as low as the discount price offered during a Bits promotion so you may want to go that route and just purchase TextAloud 3 that way. For upgrade purchases, send email to support@nextup.com and give some order details so we can assist you.

Thanks!

W Ma I notice Nuance has Asian voices (i.e. Mandarin, Japanese) for scripts in TextAloud. What Chinese scripts would TextAloud be able to read? Characters? Pinyin? other? Or, what Japanese scripts?
Feb 4 at 12:43pm
Rick Ellis W Ma,

For Nuance Chinese voices, Sin-Ji and Ya-Ling both work with Traditional Chinese only. We think Mei-Ling will handle both Simplified and Traditional Chinese.

For Japanese, Kyoko should handle Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana but we do not have much feedback on this voice as far as any problems related to specific scripts.

We don't think the voices work with Pinyin / romanized scripts.

Thanks,

Rick

Zdenek Rotrekl Does the program work with 22 KHz voices (e.g. Ivona voice)?

Goran Janevski When will TextAloud 4 come out?
Feb 6 at 3:39am
Rick Ellis Hi Stephen,

The AT&T Natural Voices Julia voice in the $24.95 TextAloud bundle is the 16kHz version. We do not offer the 8kHz version.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick Ellis Hi Zdeneck,

TextAloud 3 uses Sapi4/Sapi5 for the voice interface. I do not know if it will work with Ivona voices, but if it does, it will work in the free trial of TextAloud 3 (assuming you already have an Ivona voice). TextAloud 3 may work with some other voices, but we can only promise it will work with the voices we offer optional for purchase through NextUp. Some of these are 22kHz, but again, they are voices we offer.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick Ellis Hi Goran,

No announcement yet on a date for TextAloud 4. For those who purchase TextAloud 3 within 6 months prior to TextAloud 4, we will offer a free upgrade.

Thanks,

Rick

Al Prescott I go to do the Buy Now and I'm being charged the regular price! Is this a ripoff?
Feb 6 at 4:47am
Rick Ellis Hi Al,

Some orders went through at 50% off as intended, then I saw your post so we're currently looking into what happened and I'll post again when it's sorted out. If you want TextAloud I'll make sure you get it at the correct discounted price. Sorry for the problem and we appreciate your patience.

Thanks,

Rick

Rick Ellis Al,

If you visit the regular order page on our NextUp website shortly before visiting the Bits page, the cache in your web browser may cause it to be full price. To fix this, close all browser sessions, then go to the Bits page to purchase. If you have any more problems let me know or email support at nextup.com.

Thanks,

Rick

Retired Engineer Can TextAloud 3 track fragmented newspaper columns? Or do I have to untangle the columns myself and give TA3 a linear text stream?
Feb 6 at 8:23am
Rick Ellis Hi Guest,

For now the bundle is only with the Julia US English voice, but thanks for asking.

Rick
NextUp Technologies Vendor - Feb 6 at 9:23am
Rick Ellis Hi Retired,

No, TextAloud does not track fragmented newspaper columns. I encourage you to go to our website and download the free trial if you want to see how it works with your texts.

Thanks,

Rick

guest user thx for your answer.

ok, two other questions?

1) any chance of that discount working for voices also? then i could get the bundle and add german voice for a reasonable price.

2) will there be another offer here in the future with free to choose voice(s) in a bundle?
Feb 6 at 9:58am
Retired Engineer If I order only the basic TA3, what sort of voice do I get? Is the reason "Julia" is bundled that TA3 won't work without it?
Feb 6 at 10:41am
Rick Ellis Guest,

We need to stick to the promotion at hand today, and I can't make any commitments as far as future promotions.

Thanks,

Rick
NextUp Technologies Vendor - Feb 6 at 12:00pm
Rick Ellis Retired,

When purchasing only TextAloud with no optional voices, its uses the voice(s) resident on your Windows system. On newer systems, for example, the MS Anna voice, or on older systems some combination if MS Mary, Mike or Sam.

Thanks,

Rick

Stephen Warkentien I bought TextAloud 3 when it was last offered. May I buy just the voice at discount?
Feb 6 at 5:54pm
Rick Ellis Hi Stephen,

Next time we may consider tweaking the offers, but for now I think we are sticking to the promotion at hand. Thanks for asking though.

Zdenek Rotrekl I have bought the program, but I didn“t get the voice even though I paid for it. Otherwise I am very happy about the program
Feb 6 at 7:24pm
n n I was told in checkout that I would receive the key in an email, I have yet to receive it. Just wondering if I will get it today; don't know what to do. I am worried that I won't get it until it's too late and then will have to pay full price later to get it. What do I do?
Feb 7 at 12:04am
Stephen Dakos Greetings. Today, I purchased the TextAloud w/Julia bundle. The TextAloud program successfully installed and registered, but I ran into a problem when trying to download the "Julia" voice. Clicking on the link in the "TextAloud Delivery Information" e-mail to get "Julia" voice does not work. Rather, it redirects to a page to download Textaloud.exe, not the "Julia" voice file. Help please. Thank's
Feb 7 at 12:04am
Louis Gagnon I have the same problem. The link to download the Julie voice is not working. Please fix. Thank you.
Feb 7 at 12:23am
Paul T Same here, the link to download the Julia voice was incorrect. I emailed Support yesterday afternoon - haven't heard back yet, but I'm sure they have been busy. I fully expect that this will be taken care of, based on the responsiveness that others have posted about before. At least I (we) hope so, right?
Feb 7 at 4:55am
Rick Ellis To those who posted about problems with delivery, I will follow up to make sure you get the download and registration details. If you have not received an email within 2 hours of this post, please let me know. Not sure yet what the glitch might be, but also it;s always a good idea to check your spam filters. Anyone else having problems, just let me know.

Thanks!

Norwel Gordon I tried yesterday to purchase Text Aloud 3 for several hours but kept getting a "Timed out" error message.

Same results trying to download trial version.

(I was using a very slow and unreliable internet connection from my home in the Bahamas which may have been a factor.)

Very discouraging!

Will the offer be available again soon?
Feb 7 at 5:53am
Rick Ellis Hi Norwel,

I sent you an email and we will do our best to help you purchase at the discount since you had connection problems.

Thanks,

Rick
NextUp Technologies Vendor - Feb 7 at 6:42am
Norwel Gordon Thank you for your prompt response and kind offer to correct a problem that most likely was the fault of my ISP .

I would be happy to purchase TextAloud with Julia for $24.95

Paul T @Everyone, Rick is truly a stand-up guy! He has followed up with an email which corrected my problem in getting the Julia voice. Everything is fine now. I'm a very happy camper.

Thanks Rick! You rock.
Feb 7 at 8:52am
n n Don't know about others Rick, but I'm still waiting on registration and download. My PayPal got charged when I ordered, so I at least know the order (or at least the payment) went through. ;)
Feb 7 at 9:52am
Norwel Gordon I second Paul T's remarks. He provided the best customer support I have experienced in a very long time.

I wish my bank and the IRS had that kind of support people.
Feb 7 at 10:25am
