disenchanted Hi,
I have a few questions before I purchase.

1. Is this program mostly for pc users that like to download their emails from their ISPs, including web-based emails like Gmail or Yahoo, to their home desktop or laptop computers? Then delete those same emails from their ISPs.

(I ask because desktop-based email programs reminds me of the era BEFORE all the free web-based email vendors like GMAIL and YAHOO existed, and/or offered their FREE online web-mail platforms with current Giga byte capacity limits that extend to like 5GB or 10GB.
During the older email times, the only option an internet user had was getting email accounts with thier local ISP. Things were mostly analog dialup for home internet users. I remember I HAD TO download my "local ISP held" emails TO my HOME PC. Then I could finally open and read them.Back in those dial-up days I personally used Eudora)

2. Now that GMAIL and YAHOO offer such large email account capacities, I normally just started using them and I'd leave my emails plus attachments all online.
Note: I do perform backups of all of my web-based email accounts via Aid4Mail to my home PC, then archive that data.

a. Does The Bat offer the ability to download emails from Yahoo and GMAIL, YET also LEAVE those same emails on YAHOO and GMAIL?

3. I am getting overwhelmed with email accounts with both my GMAIL and YAHOO accounts. I loathe the crappy way of filtering both Gmail and Yahoo use, so that I might better be able to find the IMPORTANT EMAILS that I both want and that I need to respond to.

I'm thinking that if I do get a program like Bat and start download the emails, to my laptop at home, then filter them using Bat [and/or search programs using regular expressions], I'll be able to get a better handle on doing filtering, all in one place. And regain control of my emails.

4. Can a Bat user setup your Batprogram to do the following:

a. Download emails from Gmail & Yahoo accounts but also leave those same emails on the gmail & yahoo servers?. [like corporate users can do with in-house corporate based windows servers and desktop windows clients]

b. Then perform the filtering, once downloaded to one's local PC/laptop, via Bat's built-in filters? [Bat's sounds to have a much better filter setup than what either gmail or yahoo offer]

c. Can Bat download multiple gmail and yahoo email accounts, each into their own BAT mailboxes?
[I have a couple Gmail accounts and a couple yahoo accounts]

Thanks in advance

Scott Youngman I have considered TB several times in the past, most recently in 2015 when Eudora wasn't working well with Gmail. At that point I ended up switching to Pegasus. Lately I have been increasingly dissatisfied with Pegasus as well, but I hadn't thought of changing email programs until I saw this offer today -- and TB had not even been in my mind as a serious option. But after reviewing TB's features, I decided it could solve my problems with Pegasus so I purchased a license plus one for my wife. That would not have happened without BdJ reminding me about TB through this offer. Thank you!

Ritlabs, SRL @disenchanted, the answer is "yes" to all your questions.

In The Bat! can can create either POP3 or IMAP4 accounts. Even in POP3 accounts by default the downloaded messages are left on the mail server.

Both in POP3 and IMAP4 accounts you can set up filters to copy/move messages to folders and execute other actions. More on filters: https://www.ritlabs.com/e...t/help/64/

The Bat! handles each email address as a separate account, in other words you need to create separate accounts for each email address you have. We believe this is a better solution, than mixing messages from a dozen of email addresses in one huge "Inbox", though if needed, The Bat! can do that as well.

Keep in mind that when you create new accounts in The Bat! the IMAP4 protocol will be used by default.

The Bat! supports OAUTH for Gmail, so we suggest you make use of it: https://www.ritlabs.com/en/news/6777/

Roberto I use this email software and buy licenses for "my clients" too. Super solid. Last month I went to thailand and moved my desktop emails to the laptop. It was a breeze, fast and no further config. I'm a super happy camper with The Bat.
PD: I know i post here on every bat deal, but I really appreciate those guys.

disenchanted Thanks for the response to all of my questions.

I had actually decided to simply BUY your program, about 5 minutes after I submitted those questions.

I KNOW that a person could take he time to learn HOW both GMAIL and YAHOO setup their email program's interfaces, filtering, separating files into new folders, etc, etc.

But I just get tired of having to take the time to set everything up, only to find I hate the way either GMAIL or YAHOO decided to configure their programs.

So I'd rather learn just ONE program, (BAT) direct it toward all of my online email boxes and "let it Rip".

Your offer here on BDJ reminded me that I needed to run another backup on both my Gmail and Yahoo [using aid4mail].
Naturally both websites have "tweaked things" since my last backup. things that caused my backups to error out. The gmail issue was resolved quickly but the yahoo issue required me to submit a "how do I fix this error message"? to fooke's support.

I plan to go back to your website after test driving the Home version. Then upgrade to Pro by month's end.

Thanks for offering your program here on BDJ.

John User I came over to The Bat about a year ago after using Thunderbird for many years. I could not be happier with this program although I have to say there was a learning curve and I probably have only scratched the surface of its capabilities and features.

I am having one strange issue I have not seen addressed in the HELP section. Often when I exit the program (using the File/Exit command) The Bat starts up again. This can happen several times before I am finally exited. Any suggestions on how to stop this?

Again, do yourself a favor and give this outstanding program a trial run!

Ed Dupuis Well, I gave this a go and purchased it.
That being said, this is the first email client in a long list that I have been unable to configure to get my mail. And I have been doing this computer gig a long time.
My settings, which work on my two existing clients, don't work here.
SO my initial impression is one of disappointment.
I have submitted a ticket with the logs and now I will get to see how good the support might be.
Best of luck.
Someone send out the Bat Signal!
