Working with email should be more than just a necessary evil of today's modern lifestyle. If you've got used to the standard email client that came preinstalled on your computer, it's time to move to a platform that makes email more enjoyable, productive, and efficient. Today's discount software promotion for Windows does just that - it's called The Bat! Professional Edition.

The Bat! Professional Edition is an email client that transforms your email experience, with useful features that make email simple and convenient. First of all, The Bat! Professional Edition supports a wide array of authentication protocols and encryption methods, ensuring that your company's secrets remain secret and that your competitive advantage is secure. Additionally, The Bat! And by opting to purchase the Professional Edition, you get even better features that include spell checker dictionaries, multilingual interfaces, hardware authentication for mail servers, message base encryption, and even biometric authentication!

Do you want to be more efficient? Well, think about how much time you spend sorting email - now think about reclaiming all of that time by just setting up a few rules in The Bat! Professional Edition. Just set sorting rules, and your incoming, outgoing, and read email will automatically be directed to the appropriate folder. You also get the benefits of custom templates, auto-response, confirmations, and the ability to run external programs. Take it to the next level with custom message templates that are triggered in response to unique events. Quick templates cut down on the amount of typing you need to do, by automatically filling in frequently used text snippets. The Bat! Professional Edition even features integrated backup and restore for each mailbox that you manage.

If you have a license for The Bat! Pro, you can also take advantage of The Bat! Voyager, the portable version of The Bat! You can download The Bat! Voyager at the Ritlabs website.

Bertie Brummel The trial V. 7.2 offered here is not the latest version. Go to www.ritlabs.com and get V. 7.4. You'll not regret if you have more than a few e-mails daily.

I have > 200.000 mails in 15 accounts in my local message archive and The Bat! works great, even on an aged Win 7 system.

John User Just thought I would mention that I purchased a license for The Bat the last time it was offered here and have been using it since. I was a longtime user of Thunderbird and I have to tell you the learning curve has been significant and there are things daily that confuse me. However, IMO, it is worth the work and the learning as I think The Bat is much better in many ways. I am learning new ways to use it each day.

I think BDJ is nice to offer this again so you can give it a trial run. For me, since I installed The Bat, I haven't missed Thunderbird very much at all.

wts When I buy sw from BDJ I create a directory for the sw, place the downloads there, and save a copy of the .eml file containing the info and key from my win live mail. When I need the key later I double click the .eml and it opens in live mail. Can I do this save and view from TB! assuming I change .eml extension to default to TB! ? Thanks.

Ritlabs, SRL @ twm, The Bat! supports OAuth Authentication to send/receive mail and synchronize contacts. Please see https://www.ritlabs.com/e...NT_ID=6777

This means The Bat! doesn't store your Google account password anymore and if somebody gets a hand on you computer he/she won't be able to retrieve the password and seize your Google account.

Ritlabs, SRL @ Bart, there is no lifetime license for The Bat! If you purchase a license now, it will be valid until v7.9.

Ritlabs, SRL @ Jeffrey Krzysztow, we do not offer lifetime licenses for The Bat!, however a license for the purchased version of the program, for instance for all versions 7.xx, will never expire and you can use any The Bat! version 7.xx as long as you need.

Ritlabs, SRL @ wts, you can do that as well. You don't need to change the extension of the .eml file as The Bat! handles that file type too. Once you receive an email in The Bat! you can either export it to .eml or .msg via the "Tools" menu or simply drag emails to a folder in Windows Explorer to get them exported as .eml files. Then associate The Bat! with .eml or .msg file types in Windows and The Bat! will be used to view those files when you open them.

John User One question I have not been able to resolve on the HELP section I thought I would ask here as others may wonder too:

I have been unable to import my address book/contacts from Thunderbird. The HELP section does not include Thunderbird as one of the programs import is possible. I tried to save as an LDIF file as well and it didn't work.

So, I have been manually recreating my address book in The Bat. Is there a better way to move my contacts from Thunderbird to The Bat?

Thank you

SoftCollector Not for the casual user. I bought v5 here and invested quite some time into mastering it, but realized that the free gmail service worked much better for my purposes. Better spam filtering, quicker notifications, etc.

George Butel I'm perfectly happy with Thunderbird, especially for accessing hotmail/Windows Live Mail after Microsoft destroyed the interface last year. However, there is no Thunderbird for Android. Is this program as good as or better than Thunderbird?

Ritlabs, SRL @ John, we just tried that and it worked. What we did is select contacts in Thunderbird's address book and export them into a .ldif file via "Tools\Export". Then in The Bat!'s address book we selected an address book and successfully imported contacts from the .ldif file via the "File\Import from\LDIF file" menu.

Ritlabs, SRL @ George Butel, you can install The Bat! and give a try within the free 30 day trial. You can set up both POP3 and IMAP4 accounts for all of your email addresses and use them at the same time to see which protocol suits you best. Each account is handled separately, thus you will have a clear overview of all your accounts/folders/messages.

See the available help topics at https://www.ritlabs.com/e...t/help.php or press F1 anywhere in The Bat!

Steven Avery I did buy TheBat! on the last special. To get used to it, and to have it ready if I ever feel I have to leave Eudora (which is the 5,000 year old email program). Also to see some of the techie stuff. It is definitely a fine email program and comparing the two programs each has many advantages.

One of the things that is a hindrance in really wanting to switch, or go full dual live, is that you can not simply paste a picture from the keyboard into the text you are writing. (I use Abbyy Screenshot Reader to have the pic ready.) If I remember, you do some sort of import, and have less control and simplicity.

Is there an architectural/programming reason why this is limited? Does TheBat! code their editor or is it a choice you made? And can we use another editor and is that a sensible thing to do?

Thanks!
Feb 2 at 1:29am Copy Link

Ritlabs, SRL @ Steven Avery, in The Bat! you can paste images from the clipboard directly into the message text via Ctrl+V. Just make sure you have switched to the HTML editor (see the "Options\Message Format\...\" menu in the editor window). Or set the HTML editor as the default editor under "Options\Preferences\Viewer/Editor" in the main window of The Bat!

If you use a plain text editor, then you can select any files in Windows Explorer, press Ctrl+C to copy them, then in The Bat!'s editor window place the cursor in the message text and press Ctrl+V to get those files attached to that message.

You can start using The Bat! alongside Eudora, just make sure your POP3 accounts leave the downloaded messages on the mail server.

Richard Andersen Been using this for years and love it. Rock stable, haven't lost a single email ever, and tons of nice features. Even at full price it's a bargain IMO. Highly recommended!

_*_ Two things make me hesitant to purchase.

First, I purchased a version here a long time ago, and when it was nearing the next version (like the one here at version 7.4) it rapidly jumped version numbers to the next version.
Second, when it did move the next version, current owners only receive a 30% discount for the next version. I have voiced this concern before that supporters of the software should receive at least the same deal (50% off) as people who buy for the first time like those on bits.

With this in mind version 7.4 is too close to the next version for me to purchase and I will wait until version 8 arrives here on Bits at 50% off.

Sally Marciniak Following up on my own post, for Mac users. I downloaded the trial. I tried to run both the 32-bit and the 64-bit versions with Crossover for Mac. Unfortunately, Crossover wasn't able to install either. I'm sad, as I would have purchased The Bat! if it had worked. According to Codeweavers (maker of Crossover for Mac), the last version of The Bat! that was working with Crossover was Version 5. Crossover kept looking for an .exe to run, but wasn't able to find it.

Bertie Brummel @ _*_:

I think it is _your_ decision to purchase at a point, when the next major version is
to expect within a few months.

And you're a bit unfair too. Look at

https://en.wikipedia.org/...t!#History

and you'll recognise that RITLABS usually releases _upgrades_ every 2 years.

Ritlabs, SRL @ Sally Marciniak, The Bat! installs from a .msi package, however, if you need the EXE-file, then here you have the links to the latest v7.4.4 both 32 and 64-bit:

32-bit https://www.ritlabs.com/d....4.4.0.exe
64-bit https://www.ritlabs.com/d....4.4.0.exe

You feedback on running it with Crossover for Mac is much appreciated.

Steven Avery Thanks on the pasting of images. Works great. There was a thread some years ago, and it was not made clear, either

1) the feature is newish
2) TheBat! forum techs are not HTML - RTF typs.

Yes, I have been using them alongside, and I respect both as craftsmanship works, although eventually Eudora will have to be retired (updates ended 10 years ago, and attempts to emulate with fresh codebase or Thunderbird codebase have been failures.)

For now TheBat! leaves on server, Eudora then deletes.. It seems funny though, sometimes I download, say 25 emails to TheBat! from one of the POP accounts. I do it again, even after closing and reopening, and it gives the same 25, but I am not getting duplicate mail. The second time I would expect to get 0, or 1 or 2 newbies.

Another funny thing I put on the TheBat! forum, can you move a Mailbox to another area, e.g. Common?
https://www.ritlabs.com/e...opic12906/

That one is a bit of a biggie.

Thanks!

Steven
