Tim John Is there any reason as to why I can't access the Infognition website? Tried in IE9, Google Chrome and Firefox, all of them respond with error messages. I prefer to check a site's credentials before I download it's test product. Is the problem at my end or at theirs? Thanks.

Version 1.9.7 is coming out today and will be available with this promotion. Version 2.0 is in more distant future. Upgrade will be either free or with a major discount.

The main distinctive feature of Video Enhancer is its super resolution video upsizing technology. vReveal 2 had something called "super resolution" but it was really just a denoising method, it didn't change video resolution. As far as I know in the newest vReveal it was dropped and now they don't even pretend vReveal has quality video resize. As for other filters like brightness change, color correction, deinterlacing etc. vReveal has a few effects built-in while Video Enhancer uses over 200 third-party plugins from VirtualDub. In version 1.9.7 choosing, installing and using them is made much easier.

Dmitry Popov David, this is a rare error in a third-party component we use for skinning the UI. Just skip this message, Video Enhancer can work fine without skinengine, it will just look more plain.

Dmitry Popov Version 1.9.7 has just been released!

Screenshots here can be a bit outdated. The main difference in the new version is video filters selection window, now filters are categorized, it's very easy to see what filters exist (not necessarily installed), see descriptions and install them in one click.

Other changes include smart video compressor recommendation system (calculating proper bitrate for you based on the video in question and video codec), better frame rate handling and some minor improvements in other areas.

Michael R. I like the idea, that to enhance single frames, the neighbor-frames are taken too to enhance quality.

Just played around with the trial-version:

I am wondering, if it is possible to
1) make a snapshot of a single (enhanced) frame, i.e. create a .,bmp/.jpg-file of it?
2) have some basic cut/merge functionality, so instead of converting the whole video, this would allow to encode just a part of it? (If this is not the case, the only possibility to reencode a part of a not-natively-cuttable-video would be to reencode it twice: once with a common video-program to cut out the desired part of the video and than with VideoEnhancer to enhance it. Since each reencoding is not looseless, I suppose reencoding twice would not result in an optimal result)
3) I found interesting filters, like face-recognition/pixelation, etc. I really would like to know if it would be possible to keep only the frames in a video, where faces are found (and even better faces of certain persons are recognized). But I suppose the functionality to decide, if a frame should be kept or thrown away
isbeyond the power of a filter, isn't it?

Are the features(1) and (2) already available (and I just have not found it) and if no, can this functionality be expecxted in a soon coming version?

good questions!

Unfortunately in current version the whole video file is processed. We're going to add cutting in later versions. Right now the same super resolution engine is available as a VirtualDub plugin (see our site), there you can process desired parts of file and also make single snapshots.

In Video Enhancer one can use lossless video codecs like Huffyuv and Lagarith to keep intermediate results without introducing compression losses.

Yes, the filters here process video frame by frame and do not control frame order or count.

Robin Edwards Just testing the trial now. I assume theres no CUDA support or similar (processing with filters seems a little slow for example)? And the preview on the filters doesn't seem to work unless I'm missing something (so the only way to see what a colour adjustment filter is doing is to run the full conversion for instance)

Good to hear that the cuttings are on your todo-list.
Of course I am not familiar with your source-code but I could imagine a implementing a snapshot-functionality for the currently shown frame would be not a big thing. And perhaps a command-line option which would allow to define a start- and end-time for a video (i.e. in a first version without a graphical interface) wouldn't be such a big thing. (A graphical interface and an extended cut/merge functionality would probably be...)

Good to hear there is a VirtualDub-Plugin, which allows these functionalities: So, is this VirtualDub-Plugin-license included in this today's offer?

you're right, there's no CUDA support now (probably will be added in later versions). The problem with GPU is that CUDA is not supported by many video cards, DirectCompute is not supported by older versions of WIndows, and the simpler shaders API which is supported virtually everywhere is very limited and inflexible to implement our algorithms. We're considering using DirectCompute, at least it's not nVidia-only.

There is a Preview button in the main window of Video Enhancer, one can preview all applied effects there. But preview button in filters settings dialogs is not working, it only works in VirtualDub, the original host for those filters.

actually we tried to add cutting functionality earlier and the main problem is not UI but frame-accurate seeking in arbitrary video file formats. That part didn't work quite well so it is removed for now.

Since both Video Enhancer and the Super Resolution VirtualDub plugin include the same upsizing engine (except that VDub plugin is RGB only while Video Enhancer contains two versions: for RGB and for YV12 colorspaces, the latter works faster), one usually needs only one of these products. Technically discount link here only works with Video Enhancer but if one buys a VE license here today he/she can get a free license for the VirtualDub plugin, just email us.

Huidong I saw many movies in which police had the tech to "zoom in" certain frame from surveillance camera, and details of certain object of interest, like the watch worn by a person being monitored, could be magically retrieved. Is this complete fiction? I can imagine that by building a knowledge base of common objects, details can be ADDED as assumptions, but for particular info that is unlikely to be collected as public data, this seems like total magic. Could Mr. Popov comment on this?

J S I did some web searching and this Video Enhancer seems to be 'the business', so after hours of trawling the net, i decided to make my purchase certain I'd found the program to handle my needs.

I was filling out my order when FireFox closed for no obvious reason but then Windows shut down too and it has taken me a few days to get the rotten computer back up and going again.

Sadly no that I'm up and working again the discount coupon url has expired and I suppose I'll have to wait until next time it's offered (hopefully it will be offered again).
