View and Log Inbound Calls on Windows Media Center

Have you become totally immersed in Windows 7 Media Center? Has it become your go-to gateway for all of your entertainment? If the answer is yes, don't you hate it when you're heavily involved in watching or listening to something on Media Center, only to have your phone ring? It would be so much better if you knew who was calling before you decided to interrupt what you were doing. Thankfully, today's discount software promotion, Windows 7 Caller ID, lets you do just that!

Windows 7 Caller ID lets you log phone calls and show inbound call info on your LAN, Windows 7 Media Center, or Xbox Media Center. With Windows 7 Caller ID, you'll always know who's calling, no matter where you are in your house, thanks to support for up to 8 Media Center installations. And if you decide that you don't want to answer a call, Windows 7 Caller ID makes it easy by providing a 'Drop' button that ignores the call. And if the person on the other end of the line won't take a hint, you can also use Windows 7 Caller ID to block incoming telephone numbers. Windows 7 Caller ID is also handy even if you're not home! When calls come in, you can have Windows 7 Caller ID send notifications via email to multiple email addresses.

Setting up Windows 7 Caller ID is quick and easy, thanks to the ability to import contacts from Google Contacts and Outlook, complete with display images. And if you've given up your landline, don't worry - Windows 7 Caller ID now supports a variety of popular smartphones, too!

Joe McCormick I don't use Windows Media Center or XBMC. Can I still use your program? I have 2 Windows 7 desktop computers and a laptop and an Android cell phone. I printed out your 9 page instruction sheet and found the information as rather sparse. I see your download has 3 programs and I am not sure if I need to install all 3 of them. On the print out for settings it shows a tab for "Computers" but the trial program I installed shows "Targets". You need to update your information. Your program sounds interesting if I could only get it to work. The one thing I don't like so far is that even though I can't get the program to work I am annoyed by it causing my modem to make a noise like something is trying to connect to it.

Stanislav Berghici Sure you can use it with any PC in your home network. You need to install "W7 Caller ID Server" on pc with modem/bluetooth device installed and "W7 Caller ID Client" on all other PCs.
For modem issue try to close all other phone applications.

Joe McCormick I have the ID Server program installed. It has recognized my US Robotic modem. I have my desktop computer listed. Now what?
I have called my home phone using my cell but nothing happens.
I have rebooted the computer and nothing happens. Again I find your instruction sheet to be lacking in information.

Joe McCormick Stan, I have the USR Robitics 5670 modem. The caller function does not work with your program. I did try it on my seldom used laptop and it worked fine. I have ordered the modem you recommended from NewEgg.

Stanislav Berghici No limit!
It's easy to add manually - go to Contacts, click Add button, add phone number and check ISBlocked

Joe McCormick Your procedure requiring a serial number to purchase your product seems odd. I took the number off of my laptop trial version, entered my email and the SN and clicked on the BUY button and nothing happened.
Jul 29 2012 at 2:27pm
Guy Good I am NOT running Windows 7 at this time, but would like to buy it for someday in case I do upgrade one of these days.

How can I enter a serial number to enable me to buy it?

Never Mind.

I tried installing the server on my WinXP system and it allowed it.
Using that serial number, I entered it on the BUY screen and it went thru. Now I'll uninstall and retain the software for later when I switch to Windows 7 some future date.
