Design, Photo & Graphics Software > Graphics - Screenshot Capture

Superb Screenshot Software!

Honestly, we can't figure out why Microsoft isn't beating down NTWind's door for the rights to include WinSnap in their next Windows update.

After all, WinSnap is so much better -- SO MUCH BETTER -- than the Windows "PrntScrn" utility that we hardly even feel comfortable mentioning them in the same paragraph!

It's small install size (>1mb) belies it's power and functionality. Standard features let you easily capture non-rectangular windows with customized and transparent backgrounds, apply simple and automatic canvas transformations, add coloring effects and create slick, professional-looking drop shadows. WinSnap supports a variety of image formats and has advanced auto-save features.

In a word...

...Awesome!

Jesus InsideMe Hi, I like your app, I'm looking for one which give me the option to add date and time on picture, does it have it?, God bless you, bye.

Anon eMous Will this software allow me to capture an entire 'page' (that part that is visible ... AND that part 'below' the visible part) - ??
Aug 11 2012 at 2:15am
Michael Lenser I had a look at your website but could not determine if WinSnap can perform captures to Text?
Also will this license key register the portable version as well?
Aug 11 2012 at 4:16am
Frank Stephens All of these questions could be answered by installing the extremely small trial or reading the FAQ:

Chris Roy Jackson To All:

According to the Policy Statement, there is a NO Refund Policy, so I would HIGHLY recommend that you download the FREE Trial Version:
http://www.bitsdujour.com.../download/
and "put it through its paces" to see if it will meet your needs.

If the product works well and there will be continuing developement, then this appears to be a VERY good deal (especially if this is full featured, including scrolling capture)... I'm downloading the trial now!!!

Tom Theimer Is there no feature within WinSnap to resize an image? I very rarely want the final size of the image to be actual size and MS Paint does a poor job of maintaining image quality when resizing. Am I missing something?
Aug 11 2012 at 3:31pm
Frank Stephens Chris Roy Jackson, what version of Windows are you using? It sounds like you may be running Vista. I don't have any problems with IE9 under Win7x64. Try running WinSnap as an Administrator. Try capturing the full screen.

Gray Lox Is there any possibility to pay with PayPal?
Though PayPal is advertised on the order form, it's not possible to chose that option.
Aug 11 2012 at 5:33pm
Jesus InsideMe Hi @Chris Roy Jackson, No refund policy?, mmm it does not incentive to a sane person to buy it, there is not trust in that policy kind, I pass!, God bless you, bye.

Gray Lox What a pity, I have to go now.
Can't wait for an answer ref. PayPal.
I really would have liked to get this programme.

Frank Stephens No refund is hardly and issue with NTWind products. They're all very small with very minimal installation, they offer free trials, they keep their products updated, and they have a very generous licensing policy. I saw where Plimus says "PayPal" in a couple of places but doesn't let you select it. I'm not a Plimus fan.
Aug 11 2012 at 6:40pm
barney Barnes Well-l-l,
You advertise PayPal as a payment option. But it is not there. Thanks, but no thanks. If your payment options cannot be kept straight, how can I trust the software? Casual errors are important, at least to me.

Frank Stephens This is getting like GOTD, where some people like to pile on negative comments about a good company. There have been heavily positive comments about WinSnap over the years, it's a basic capture utility which does a great job but lacks scrolling-window capture. NTWind will have to comment on the PayPal issue--it's just as likely a Plimus problem.

Sam Calabrese For what it's worth, the program works very, very well. And it is a steal at the price. I have been using it for a long time and it does things very easily and quickly compared to other heavy-duty screen capture utilities that I also use (Snag-It, for example). One feature I really appreciate is the ability to capture OBJECTS very easily, such as a tool bar, icon, drop down list, etc. Its ability to quickly save with TRANSPARENCY is outstanding and very useful if you're cutting and pasting images into programs like PowerPoint.

That this program is being sold here for $12 is incredible.

From the website are the answers to some of the questions posted here:

Thumbnails and scale option: With WinSnap, you can easily create small thumbnails and automatically resize images to fit the fixed size of your pages.

Q: Can I install WinSnap on my laptop?
A: Yes, you can install WinSnap on all your computers.

Q: Can I use WinSnap at work?
A: Yes, the Personal License allows you to install WinSnap on your work computer.

Q: I need to move WinSnap to a new computer. Do I have to buy it again?
A: You don't have to pay for WinSnap twice. You can install and activate WinSnap on all your computers. Licenses are "per user", not "per computer".

Chris Roy Jackson It appears that this software is NOT too Intuitive !!!
Can someone from the company tell me what I'm doind wrong ???
I have taken 5 different Screenshots and each time all I'm getting is a Black Screen with your watermark Superimposed!!! NO IE Browser Windows are being Copied!!!
On the Fifth one I added a Red Arrow which was also shown on the created .png file.
Please tell me what I'm doing wrong so that I can evaluate the software in time to make a decision about buying today!!!
Thanks-in-Advance,
Chris Roy Jackson

Anon eMous Since 'Frank Stephens' has failed to identify himself as a representative of the company - either do so or stop posting as if you know - the FAQ does NOT answer my questions - exactly why I've asked them HERE. I've bought WinSnap -twice- in order to support the company. I STILL - NEED - the ability for scrolling capture. Now here we are again - do I need to buy it yet AGAIN?
Aug 12 2012 at 2:12am
Frank Stephens Anon eMous, I already clearly posted that WinSnap doesn't do scrolling capture, and if you downloaded the free trial or read the online help, you would know. I also posted that free tools will do full captures of web pages. I get annoyed with people who accuse me of working for this or that company.

Michael Lenser, WinSnap just does ordinary image captures, which again you could tell from the trial or from the online help. There isn't a portable version, it wouldn't make sense to have one. It's licensed per-user, you can install it on all of your computers. You can use external OCR software.

Chris Roy Jackson, BDJ was flaking out and not displaying some posts. If you're running Win7, you should be using IE9, although the problem appears to be with your video drivers. You should check for a newer video driver, although if you have other than ATI or nVidia there may be a problem with the driver anyway. IE runs in Protected Mode under Win7, as I said you may need to run WinSnap as an Administrator (I don't have to, but I'm on an Administrator account). Full-screen capture (rather than window) may work. Again, there are free tools for capturing web pages.

Sam Calabrese, I'm not aware of any way for WinSnap to resize images. Of course, you can control the window size of the capture.

Michael Lenser @Frank Stephens How stupid of me! Those links on the bottom of the main page at http://www.ntwind.com/sof...nsnap.html below where it says "Portable Editions to Run from a USB Flash Drive" listing 2 different versions fooled me. The links don't take me to a portable versoin which makes perfect sense if they don't actually sell a portable version! Must have been an April fools joke by the developer and I fell for it.
Thanks for clearing that up.
