Maybe you suspect nefarious goings-on with your network. Or maybe you're just curious about how many active connections you have going on. Either way, you're going to need an effective network monitor that's easy to use and highly configurable. In other words, you're going to need today's discount software promotion, X-NetStat 5.6!

X-NetStat 5.6 lets you view detailed information on all current Internet and network connections in realtime. With X-NetStat 5.6, you'll be able to see the IP and hostname address, ports, applications, bandwidth usage, and status information of everything that's going into and out of your network. In this way, it's incredibly easy to find out if a specific application is hogging bandwidth, and identifying malware programs that are up to no good is a cinch.

Not only does X-NetStat 5.6 serve as a network monitor, the program also lets you take action on what you're seeing. A nifty and powerful Rules System lets you establish certain responses that are triggered by network conditions. A collection of Lookup Tools, such as TraceRoute, WHOIS, Finger, DNS, and more, let you take all necessary steps to discover the origin of unfamiliar traffic. And with an integrated Web Server, you'll be able to peek in on X-NetStat 5.6 from any remote location with a web connection!

Mappi75 Program looks interessting, bt:

"Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed."

This is a "no go" sorry.

disenchanted Nothing against software developer's using DRM measures, as I feel everyone deserves to get paid for their software products/creations.

But I can see where the "no transfer" could be an issue.

If something bad happens to our home pc, would we at least get a "discount" to re-purchase a new license?

1. When I upgraded from a old pentium to a quad core, I totally wiped the hard drive on my pentium, reloaded only what came on that pc (windows only), then donated the old system to a local charity.

.2. if my current computer dies (ie motherboard fries) . Then I'd buy a new pc as it's cheaper than repairing the old one.

If something like this happens, would we at least get a "decent discount" to get a new license?

Carsten Mads What version of 5.6 is this – is it the Professional version as the Screenshots shows? Also the descriptions here and the price, seems to match the Professional version.

If this version is the Professional version, on sale here… there is a big mismatch, regarding the “no transfer” issue as others are mentioning… According to an earlier sale on BDJ ( link: ) and on your own website ( link: ) where transfer is allowed.

Last but not least important - it seems that version 5.6 – according to the download page on your site, is a stable Beta 2 version, from December 2012, is this correct? ( link: )

Please clear these things up - thanks

Justin West "Transfer of a license to another owned computer is not allowed."
OK, this saves my time. No need to read other info, will not buy.

Barnet We need clarification from the developer: Conflicting information on website. Version 5.6 appears to be a BETA release. Pro version reports unlimited support and updates for major version - this case 5.x, and they say if you get another computer, download again and use your code, and if you lose your reg code they will give you another. So what up with no transfer allowed?

The LITE version reports it is currently version 5.1 (released 7/15/2004)

Also, while not a big deal in itself, the website has some information that has not been updated for years - "We are 7 years old today" posted in 2005? This leads me to not trust any information as being current.

JLG I would like this as I tried it years ago but never bought it, but just which version am I getting for the 19.99 deal? There is another link here to buy X-Netstat Pro for 5% off the 49.99 price, which appears to be the exact same price as the version shown here for 19.99, and the Fresh Software website only shows two versions, the one(s) here for either 19.99 or 49.99 (less 5% discount) and a Lite version. This is pretty confusing, is the 19.99 version some kind of crippled shareware that is going to pop up reminders to get the Pro version?

Andrew Niese @Mappi75 @disenchanted @Justin West: I'm sorry guys, I must have ticked the wrong box under license info. Transfer to another PC is NOT prohibited, only the concurrent use of a single license on more than one PC. So, you can uninstall on one PC and move it to another, just don't deploy it on 2 PCs at the same time, unless you buy for 2 computers. I will correct the info. Transfer of a license from one person/organization to another needs written permission (just email me.) Hope that helps.

Andrew Niese @Barnet Rawitch: Version 5.6 was a beta release, and now is an official release. Version 5.61 is in the works and will be released in July. The Lite version is not being offered currently --- I have just removed that old info from the website. Sorry for the confusion.

Andrew Niese @JLG: The $19.95 deal being offered today is for the Pro version. The Lite version has been retired.

Constantin Florea We're sorry for the confusion regarding the transfer of the license. We've updated "The Fine Print" tab to reflect this with the following phrase:
Transfer of a license to another owned computer is allowed.

Carsten Mads Hmmm – It seems that all this confusions, has been going on for a long time (when one looks, at the 25 older Comments, in the former BDJ Sale on the X-NetStat 5.6 Pro version, from January 2013).

The Vendor of this Software could/should have cleared all this things up, before this new BDJ Sale - I guess he has his own reasons…

I think it is fair to mention, that this Software collects Statistic and phones Home – FYI, this is the Vendors reply in the old Comments from the last Sale:
“The software reports usage statistics to every 30 days. If that is not agreeable with you, please don't order the product, or contact me for a custom-built version.”

I’m not going to Trial, buy and spend more time on this Vendors Software.

Andrew Niese @Carsten -- To answer your earlier question, yes the current build is from December --- Beta 2 became the final release of 5.6 because it passed all the test requirements for RTM. You're right that I should have been more careful to double-check the website before this promotion. It's your right not to buy it if you don't want to.

That being said, as a developer, I've made X-NetStat my life's work, and stand behind it. Version 1.0 came out in 1998, and the current version represents 15 years of R&D. I have many happy customers, and guarantee your satisfaction, or your money back: http://www.freshsoftware....ensing.php

Mark Johnson @Andrew Niese -- you might want to update your Fresh Software website.
The page about this software ( ) states that 5.6 is a Beta, and says nothing about it being a final release. I believe that is what is confusing people here.

Greg Hanson The MD5 Hash listed on your website is different from the downloaded file.
Your site: 455b3086883d41a6dbb32fcea804b351
xns55p_setup.exe: 8799cd13900a3f923ad897c25007bde8
(same result with either Microsoft FCIV and WinMD5Free v1.20)

Is the website out of date or is the file suspicious?

Andrew Niese @Mark Johnson --- Thanks for the suggestion. I've edited the page.

@Greg Hanson --- The download page was out of date. I updated it. The hash starting 8799 is correct.

Greg Hanson @Andrew Niese - Thanks for the confirmation. I downloaded it, I tested it, I liked it...I bought it!

Very nice piece of software and it's already been useful having WHOIS, etc. so conveniently located inside of X-NetStat. Thanks for including the ability to increase the font size in the Connection Table; my eyes aren't as young as they used to be! :-D

disenchanted In regards to the post above that says that this software "phones home every 30 days" and also "collects statistics".

1. What data exactly is being collected about an end user?

2. is it related to "only" the X-netstat softwre itself?

2. is it just to verify 1 pc is running the software?

3. Is any geo tracking going on?

Just curious.
Jul 1 2013 at 4:58pm Copy Link
Andrew Niese @disenchanted

1. Stats about what components are used (number of WHOIS lookups, number of program opens, number of killed connections, cumulative duration program has been running, etc) and also identifying information like IP address, computer name, organization name, etc.

2. Yes

3. Yes, it is part of licensing to fight software piracy.

4. The country and time zone are posted, but nothing more specific than that.

Steven Avery Hi,

Allowing that the price on Bits is good, and the general concept of program is good (what is happening in TCP-IP land on my puter) and that we are ok with licensing and privacy stuff ...

Could one of our experts do a short comparison of pluses and minues compared to other freeware and (pay) shareware?

Or point us to a good discussion online, although Fresh might not always be included in the round-ups, simply based on company size and visibility.
