disenchanted I bought this when it was offered on Bitsdujour , on Dec 15th,2009.

Sad part is that I let it set unused for almost a year.

I actually didn't find out just how valuable XSP was, until I tried doing a project in wordpress. Using some premium WP plug-ins I bought here on Bitsdujour and elsewhere.

IMO, XSP should really build a comparison chart matrix, indicating product FEATURES on their website . That way customers can easily see just how much of a bargain XSP is (even at it's retail price of $197), when compared to the "supposedly free" WP.

Everything you need to monetize your website is already built into XSP.
Everything needed with WP is via add-on plug-ins [some free, others NOT free].

Adrian Williams For basic websites - fine. XSP does have it's limitations however but the forum is well populated and you'll get an answer to most issues. The strong emphasis on tables for layout doesn't give you total flexibility. I'd like to see a comparison table between XSP and other good value web building stuff like serif webplus x5, website realizer, wysiwyg7 from pablosoft.
I too bought XSP when it was on offer and it's created some good websites for me. The editor is abit buggy and when you enter some bespoke html code and then return to the editor, funny things can happen to the layout including losing the taskbar which means you have to exit then re-run. All of this is in the forums if you need to check it out. You can tell when XSP has been used for an affiliate website - they pretty much all look the same (IMHO).
Comparing XSP with wordpress isn't fair, they're totally different in what they try to achieve. One generates dynamic websites and the other (XSP) creates a fixed website. However, they can work together very well, XSP to create the theme and Wordpress the dynamic content. To marry these two programs you should take a look at Turboflex theme master pro - wordpress edition. This enables you to take an XSP website design and create a wordpress theme without all the coding. Done well, you'll not know that the website you're looking at is in fact an XSP website running wordpress in the background.
Enough for now - XSP is a great program, especially if you're into marketing. One of many great programs for website design.

The editor in XSitePro is self correcting. This means that if there is a syntax error in your code the editor will try to fix it.
The good news, we have added a new feature that will allow you mark sections of code to be left alone.

Michael Jones Since your own website is created in XSitePro, I'll take the positives from your comment rather than the negatives Adrian! :-D I too already own XSitePro and I absolutely love it - I just couldn't be without it now, and NONE of my websites are basic! I have a shopping cart, dB backend, membership, commenting and a whole lot more. I do agree to a certain extent that you can tell when XSP has been used for certain affiliate websites - but the same can be said of all the outsourced spewed out wordpress sites too. I don't suppose some IMs care so much, they just want websites quickly, and that's just user limitation - not software limitation surely? Did you send in a suggestion to the guys at XSP about the comparison table? I think that would be great too.

It's easy to to pick out the niggles in any piece of software. The two I highlighted caused a stumbling block in the smooth workflow. To have to exit the software then restart due to the toolbars disappearing wasn't helping the development of my websites. To highlight all the good points would have filled quite a few pages. For someone wanting a good feature packed program that can generate good websites, xsite pro is up with the best. Forgive me if my comments appeared biased. I've been using the software for over a year and still use it to mainain some websites. The rsp for the software is too high, compared with others but at the discounted price it becomes affordable for some. For others, it's still more than twice the price of, say, wysiwyg7.
Michael, maybe we take this discussion elsewhere but i'd be interested in how you got the db backend set up - possibly the forum ?

We always try our best here at BitsDuJour to provide a download link, but sometimes that's simply not possible.
