No it is not the same, but the internal font generation technology is equal. Scanahand is a desktop application and YourFonts is an online service.
Two other questions: 1. Other than desktop/online, is YourFonts functionality the same as Scanahand? 2. What are the "5 fonts?" Thank you. This looks like a very good application.
YourFonts requires you to pay per font; however today you can buy 5 fonts. Scanahand requires a one time license fee you need to pay, then you can make as many fonts as you like. There are more differences; please read the Scanahand product page and the YourFonts website.

No, that offer ended in April. Now the price for a single font is $9.95 plus $5.00 if you upload both template pages.

Can you explain how this process works? Do we send/upload a sample of our handwriting to you and then you create the fonts or what? Also, when you say 5 fonts, what does that mean? Five based on our handwriting or ? Thank you
The process is pretty easy: Print the blank template, draw all of the characters you want to include using a black marker or felt-tip pen, scan your template, and save the page(s) to your hard drive. Then, upload your saved file(s) to the YourFonts.com web site. Wait a couple of seconds after uploading your creation, and you'll be able to preview your font. Then use the "YourFonts Family Pack" coupon to download the font to your computer, and install it. The coupon allows you to make 5 unique fonts. They can be based on your handwriting, but can also contain dingbats or other artwork.
Let me make sure I understand. I pay 14.95 for a family pack coupon and I get to upload five templates and download five font files. How long is the coupon good for? Can I do one today, and another a month from now? A year from now?
