disenchanted After about 6 weeks of testing every screen capture program I could find, I had stumbled upon Litecam 3 by
The current version is now known as LitecamHD.

It is still offered at the Christmas savings price of 75% off.
Normally $39.99, just $9.90.

This is the easiest and most dependable screen capture program I ever used.
It works more dependably that Camtasia or Snag-it.

They created their own codec, which really helped with the "missing audio" I had with other apps like camtasia.

disenchanted It really works great for capturing any "streaming video" you encounter on your pc.

disenchanted @eb235,

thanks for providing a working link.
(I have not checked this section of bitsdujour until today).

I found the offer originally mentioned here:

Michael R. I downloaded it, a Little bit hoping there would be some postprocessing, like in Camtasia. But there isn't, right?

How does it compare to WMCapture, I bought from BDJ some day ago (and using it for capturing)?
        Jan 13 2014 at 10:55pm
disenchanted I think that the other product by Innoheim called Camverce, is more like Camtasia, as far as processing capabilities.

Litecam is more of a basic screen recorder than Camverce.

I have used Litecam all the time for recording streaming videos and such.

Michael R. Thanks for the info.
So you didn't check WMCapture out?

Recording streaming means recording from the stream, right?
(Instead of recording the original by catching it somehow)

disenchanted I'll explain what and how it was used.

I used it to capture a few training videos that were only offered in a "live, streaming" format.

Originally the people who were members of a certain training website were offered
"both" choices:
- download an mp4 and view at your leisure OR
- view a live, streaming video

So I set the capture setting to capture a specific window on my PC desktop, turned on "record" and then started the training video.
When the 20 or 30 minute video ended, I stopped the capture process, gave the file a name and proceeded to the next.

That was the context I used the software for.

disenchanted "Recording streaming means recording from the stream, right?

Sounds like you might be after an even easier way to get the video.

Depending on the video that is streaming, you can possibly
"detect & download" the exact file itself, like an MP4 or MPEG file, using
It is a free program and you enter a URL of a streaming video into a search box.
Stream transport then shows you all of the files in a streaming video, which are several. Then it finds the "single" MP4 or MPEG URL within the entire stream that is the actual video file.

You just highlight that one file, right-click and then choose download.
No setting up a screen recorder program like WMcapture or LiteCAM and waiting for an entire video to play.
Stream transport ferrets out the one file that is the MP4 or MPEG and lets you "grab it" and download it.

NOTE: As per one of my co-workers. It does not work with encrypted videos like are sometimes used with the amazon cloud EC2. Stream transport might find it but it cannot "grab" it.
