Oleg Krupnov I think it's worth alerting everybody that this app is just a blatant rip-off from DaisyDisk, done poorly. The guy not only copied our ideas and design, but even colors and portions of text from our website and help manual.

See yourself:

Marvin Adams Oleg, thanks for that invaluable comment.

Striking similarities. I hope someone from "Binary Fruit" is going to comment on that.

Another important side note:
Binary Fruit says it's a "Europe based company" but it does not disclose any company information (name, address, telephone, e-mail). This is not only against European law, it's also highly suspicious. Even their websites are protected by Whoisguard.

On the other hand, DaisyDisk is very open about their information. Seems to me that Binary Fruit is not playing a proper hand here.

For my part, I never do business under asymmetric circumstances (i.e. Binary Fruit requesting me to input all my address and data while rejecting to do the same), especially if their business is against law.

I think someone at Bitsdujour should actually take this offer down and not post any more offers from dubious, anonymous "developers". It just doesn't seem right.

Actually, it's exactly what happened on another well-known Mac software sale site, MacZOT, when his owner, Mike Biskup, has been demonstrated the facts. He called for a three-party chat with the author of DiskRadar, after which Mike was convinced that DiskRadar was a rip-off and took it down from the sale.

Oleg Krupnov The first paragraph of my previous post was a quote from the previous commenter, Marvin Adams. I put there a "greater than" sign that was stripped after I clicked "Post". Sorry about that! :)

Marvin Adams I see that the staff from Bitsdujour have reacted an temporarily disabled the deal. That's good news. It shows that original and hard work is being appreciated.

It would actually be a nice gesture of Bitsdujour if they allowed the original developers to offer their application here as the one and true deal of the software instead of the copycat.

Thank you very much for your consideration!

Steve Wright I actually looked at this yesterday and thought to myself...Is this Disk Daisy under a different name?

I was going to say something but I didn't want to appear like I was favouring one or the other.

Oleg, I don't know much about this kind of thing, but do you have some kind of copyright or patent on the look and feel of the software? Because if you are the original creator (which I'm sure you are), you'd have a big case against these guys as this is blatantly ripping off your product.

Taras Brizitsky As Oleg has previously stated, DiskRadar is not affiliated with us (DaisyDisk). It's a low quality mindless rip based on a mix of DaisyDisk 1.x, 2.x designs.

We're open to community and welcome collaboration. We post lots of sketches, prototype screenshots and other similar stuff, so people can learn from us or try to build their own sunburst-based apps (like Mozilla's Arc that has inherited some of our ideas). Hey, we even share portions of DaisyDisk's code on GitHub under the most non-restrictive license available.

Still there's a clear line between using patterns and ripping. By no means we want our name to be associated with inferior quality products we're not affiliated with.

Daniel L I think one MAJOR difference between the two products is the use of (commas) "," rather than (periods) "."
**JOKING (Just to make sure everyone knows... my first sentence in this comment was a joke)**

Having created, filed, protected, and fought for both National and International Intellectual Property (IP) rights and patents of my own--I am really 'agitated', to put it mildly, with (what appears to be) a BLATANT copy and disregard for DaisyDisks IP (design, format, code et cetera).

*Also, thank you BDJ for your quick response (taking this deal down). Good luck with your fight, DaisyDisk! Peace.

Kirill K 1. First of all I want to start from this http://cl.ly/3ih8 - just look at first screenshot. This is 100% CHEATING from DaisyDisk guys. Why?
Just look here - this is the full picture: http://cl.ly/421S2q1l1g0z2U2X0A1q

Such kind of "volumes overview"design was in "DiskInventory X" since year 2004!!! But DaisyDisk guys cheating everybody that this is their UNIQUE design

2. Here is real and actual comparison of DaisyDisk and DiskRadar:
http://cl.ly/2f1J2v17361y1N2L3s3e
On this screenshot both DaisyDisk and DiskRadar visualize the same disk/folder.
DiskRadar sunburst implementation is completely different from DaisyDisk. If very shortly - it has completely different sunburst geometry and color scheme. If you are interested you can read more there: http://cl.ly/3t0A0P0Q0y2I0M273a0z

Michael Sidoric I have in the past used DaisyDisk as a licensed user. Beyond the circular data display -- the two apps diverge.

DiskRadar allows a user to 'age' the display to highlight usage by last use, it offers truly proportional display slices – and it offers a world class diagnostic for drive health - a major consideration in archiving and backups.

I am offended that anyone would question the integrity of a developer based on similar displays. Consider iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom as examples.

Features are what I'm buying – and DiskRadar stands superior.

Hamid M I downloaded and used both DaisyDisk and DiskRadar, and am about to buy DiskRadar: the color coding of the age of the files is a very useful feature that is missing in DaisyDisk.
As for one being the copy of the other, *all* disk space analyzers have pretty much the same set of features, the innovation that DaisyDisk came up with was to use a pie chart instead of bar graph. That's a good idea, but really a bar chart (with proportionally sized bars) would convey the same exact information.
