smaragdus Don't trust lifetime offers from Macrorit! I got their so called lifetime license at another site (SharewareOnSale), the license worked with version 2.8.1.0 of Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Pro, but when I downloaded and installed a new version- Macrorit Disk Partition Expert Pro 3.0.0.0, I got an error message that my license key is not valid. A roguish practice of a company I will not trust any more.

Jane Chan to Danny, We are a different company, IM-Magic is our competitors.
Alex McLeod I read a review that said that it automatically defrags after partitioning. That's not good for those using SSD drives. I'll have to pass on this, even though it seems like a good program.

Home User "You must install/register the software within 15 days, and cannot do so afterwards."
Would download and give it a try but with having to install/register within 15 days and can't reinstall I will try other competitors offer that don't have that limitation. With so many different software offers out there it is hard to get to try all them out quick and all you have is a cluttered desktop with all the icons on it. You would have to be rushed and halfway try it out to see if you like it. I like the software company's that let you download it, receive a key for it before the giveaway ends. Then you can try it/install it when you have a need to or have enough time to really test it out. You also have the option to reinstall if needed as long as you downloaded and got your key before the giveaway ended. Then when you find the software you like you could purchase, upgrade and keep using it. If something you don't like you can delete it. Let the software sell itself. If the software is good people will buy it and keep using it!

JMJ Squared Macroit provides a 30-day Pro version of their product at a very reasonable $9.99 for those who have an immediate problem to solve and may not need the program thereafter. Now, that is both very consumer-friendly and very smart. It's worth a careful look just because of that kind of confidence and integrity.

Thanks for the freebie Macroit and BitsDuJour.

Jane Chan Hello Gordon: Yes, we have portable edition, please check our website for detail.
Home User Thank you Jane Chan for changing the software offer to: "You can install/register the software at any time." This makes the software offer more appealing to me. I hope the change will appeal to more users and they will try it out also. I will download it now and when I have the time, install it and really try it out. Thanks so much!

I should apologize because my words were rather harsh. I was irritated because the license for version 2.8.1.0 didnn't work for version 3.0.0.0. A representative of Macrorit Research&Support Team already contacted me via e-mail and se me a new license. Problem solved.

cyanic A couple of notes:

IM-Magic's Partition Resizer Pro is indeed a variant of this program, but not the other way around. If you check, you can find Macrorit URLs in IM-Magic's program.

The key that I received from yesterday's free offer, which I will assume everyone else got too (which is usually the case), can activate the software until Jan. 1, 2015, inclusive. So no rush to get it installed and activated. You can also turn back the clock to activate if necessary. The license will remain valid after Jan. 1, 2015.

Brad I installed the program today, but I am concerned because there is no "uninstall option", in Programs and Features.

Has anyone else installed the program? Can you uninstall?

Just want to confirm whether it is something unique to my configuration, before I assume there is no "uninstall routine" built into this product.

If so can you uninstall Macrorit?

Thanks, Brad

Fred Brad, why the concern about an uninstall option? Over half the programs I have installed don't have a self uninstall option. Windows' Control Panel Programs and Features Uninstall is the better option anyway.

William W. Geertsema Installed on a Windows 7 Pro 32-bit SP1.
At each program startup Trend Micro reports it has blocked the file core-fre.exe. Although Macrorit Disk Partition then starts, and appears to run normally, I would like to know whether blocking cor-fre.exe has any effect on the functioning of the program.
Very annoying is the fact that at each and every program startup my IE home page is stolen and replaced by "about:blank". After I restore my home page, each instance of running the program will lead to the same annoyance. I have not yet cleaned the registry of all "about:blank" values, and will do so, but I doubt whether the registry will stay clean if I run the program again.
Two questions:
1. Has anyone else encountered the same (or similar) problems?
2. How does the developer react to this matter?

Sam User Thank you VERY MUCH for including a portable version.
I really, really, REALLY appreciate that.

Portable version ran just fine on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and the key was accepted without any trouble. It has now become part of my Liberkey apps!!!

I didn't test any functionality because at this time there is no need on my end for any partitioning related jobs.

Normally I have used Windows Admin Tools > Computer Management > Storage > Disk Management for my partitioning needs, without needing any other software, but this program should prove more convenient when needed.

Brad Hi FREDERICK User,

Please excuse my lack of clarity in my question.

Let me rephrase my question. My concern centered on what the install failed to do my Windows 8.1 system. The installation failed to create a line item in the Control Panel "Programs and Features" so as to uninstall the product. This was odd to me. Was there no way to uninstall the product?

The vast, vast majority of programs I install, create this ability to uninstall the program within Control Panel "Programs and Features".

My query to the Bitster community was simply: Is my experience an anomaly, specific to my system? Or, did other individuals who installed the program have the same experience I did, where no uninstall option was provided in the "Programs and Features" area of Windows Control Panel.

While I was waiting for some feedback from the community or the developers on my question......I started digging around and it turns out Macrorit does have an "uninstall.exe". It is located in the Macrorit programs root directory. It was either in "C:\Programs Files\Macrorit" or "C:\Programs Files(x86)\Macrorit". I just don't remember if it was a 32 bit or 64 bit program.

So bottom line I got the program uninstalled. So for me the question remains, Was my experience an anomaly, where no option is provided to commit to "Programs and Features" an option to uninstall. Why did I need to go hunting for the uninstall.exe so as to remove the program?

Before assuming the worst I wanted to ask Bitsters did anyone else find this sort of passive "road block" to uninstalling the program, was your experience the same as mine? Or, did your installation create the option to uninstall the product in Programs and Features?

So if everyone else had my experience and this is the default action, then why? Why not create the optimal user experience, which to me is provide the full design modality for which "Programs and Features" was purposed, so people can easily and simply uninstall the program.

Individuals who are less familiar, knowledgeable or adept with where to go to find the uninstall.exe file, might or likely would be stuck with the program remaining on the computer.

OK yes your right, "I probably do need to get a life"! :-)

I'm reserving judgement, and assuming at this point that my experience was not the norm. But I would like to know.

I was a bit surprised I did not get a response from Macrorit, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps on their side of the world they are sleeping.

Good day, Brad

Fred Hello Brad, thanks for the reply and clarifications. I would not have commented had I the details you provided. Not creating an entry in Programs and Features upon installing is an anomoly. Glad you found an uninstall.exe program in the Macrorit installation folder. I'm staying with Windows 7 until 10 is offered by Microsoft for upgrade. Issues with both 8 and 8.1. I went with the portable installation on a dedicated thumb drive I have for portable installs.

Greg Pretty excited about this one... just installed it, to test before buying - and it is not seeing the D:/ drive which is a RAID 0 set, any ideas why this might be? Not looking for a CS response, but rather a general pre-sales Q answered as follows:

Are there any common disk configurations that the software will not work with or understand?

Thanks.

Alan User This appears VERY DANGEROUS in comparison to Minitool Partition Wizard,
in that the Change Status to Off-0Line / On-Line operations ARE INSTANTANEOUS,
i.e. I am denied the opportunity to reconsider - IT JUST HAPPENS WITHOUT MY CLICKING "COMMIT".

Are there any other Macrorit operations with this same unexpected instantaneous action WITHOUT ANY COMMIT.

I am ESPECIALLY CONCERNED about the operation "CONVERT TO GPT Disk".
Does this also happen immediately - without my authorizing COMMIT ?
What hat to any Partitions and "RAW DATA" - is this wiped or otherwise modified ?

MY GENUINE PROBLEM - WHY I AM ESPECIALLY CONCERNED :-
I have a 600 GB HDD which had 6 partitions - GPT style.
One morning Windows booted up in super stupid mode,
and REPLACED the GPT style Disk Identity of this 600 GB HDD with the MBR style identity of my 960 GB HDD.
Then Windows recognized that there was a DISK ID clash, and so the 600 GB HDD became OFFLINE.
In effect Stupid Windows performed on my innocent 600 GB HDD an instantaneous "Convert to MBR Disk",
and did NOT wipe any data - it simply refuses to access the contents
When I change the 600 GB HDD back to ONLINE,
then Windows automatically applies a new DISK ID that does not clash with other Disks,
and then I can change the DISK ID to any other MBR style format,
but Windows REFUSES to allow the GPT style format.

Windows now sees two small partitions followed by Unallocated Space

A Data Recovery utility can CORRECTLY see and recover from RAW DATA the 6 partitions holding 550 GB of files.
All 6 partitions and 500 GB of valid data can be recovered 600 GB.
Before I wipe my 600 GB HDD and restore all the Recovered partitions and their data to this 600 GB HDD,
I intend to again test tools that may,
WITHOUT WIPING OR LOSING DATA,
change to GPT style DISK ID what Windows insists is an MBR style Disk.

PLEASE ADVISE :-
If I use Macrorit "CONVERT TO GPT Disk" will this simply and cleanly UNDO the stupidity of Windows,
and allow me to access all the data that still resides in 6 partitions,
or will it simply delete all partitions
or will it Initialize and wipe the contents of the Disk.

Regards
Alan

Alan User To William W. Geertsema; I am using the portable version on Vista.
It does not mess with my home page settings.

To Macrorit; I really appreciate the portable version.
Unusual (bug?), that the startup screen is centered
on my main monitor, while the actual program seems centered
within my four screen extended desktop rather than my primary monitor.

Also, at my 800x600 resolution, I can not resize it small enough
to all fit on my primary monitor.
Perhaps these two issues are related?

I can fix both issues by adjusting the shortcut to open it maximized.
Still, it seems something you might want to look at.
