DH007 Is AppStudio subscription a necessary pre-requisite to run the software?

I read on your Upgrade page that the v8 upgrade includes 4 months of AppStudio subscription and I am a little bit confused whether it means that besides paying here 100 USD I will need to enroll for some subscription to have the software working.

George Henne No, the subscription isn't required if you are not using any of our cloud based features.

DH007 Do you have any comparison table showing features included in subscription based cloud services? Just to have idea what I will not be able to do when not subscribing. Will I be able to deploy to desktop, iOS and Android without subscription? Can I compile to EXE?

George Henne Here’s a table:

Yes, you will be able to deploy to the desktop, iOS and Android.

The subscription gives you a couple of handy cloud based features:
- Volt, which gives you a place to host your apps, in case you don’t have your own server
- VoltBuilder, a cloud service which takes over the job of making native apps for Android and iOS. Think PhoneGap, but up to date and maintained.

Let me know if you have more questions!

Adam P I currently have 6.3. Is there any difference in features between this offer and the upgrade for $70?

az Mek I have just spend 2 hours to find more information about this product
the title is promising but the devil is in the details,
i would like to see more information then hello world,
how is the deployment done, say i am on pc and to deploy to ios you will need a mac address , how do you get this sorted.
can i access proximity function via this software
it's a lot of money to ask for even at 50% with a very little words as description
and wiki is not any better in explaining things, is there a youtube channel where i can see real application or at a least a tutorial from A to Z

I am sorry but i am not leaning towards buying at this moment due to limited information

George Henne There are a few videos here which show various ways of deploying:

George Henne "I currently have 6.3. Is there any difference in features between this offer and the upgrade for $70?"

No difference - it's the full edition of AppStudio in both cases.

CFGuy Hi - I have read that some app builders charge extra for the ability to include/use "push notifications" on the app user's (customer's) phone. How does your program handle this feature? Thanks.
Jun 7 at 7:11am Copy Link
George Henne We don't have any such charges. You're free to use any plugins or libraries you want.

It's possible that the push notification service you use might have charges.

CFGuy George- thanks for getting back to me regarding my question on the "push notifications". Help me understand this issue a little better, if you don't mind. If I were to design an app in which a reminder would be sent to the user if a certain pre-programmed event (such as a certain time is reached (as a "reminder" function), or perhaps an event occurs) and it then pops up a notification message on the app user's phone or tablet, I had herd it is called a "push notification" (or am I "overgeneralizing" here?) Does your program have the ability to send such notifications, and if so, what are some reasons that an app programmer would need to utilize any "push notification services" (other than what your program already supplies)? I realize there's probably a learning curve involved in app programming, but it is something that has interested me for a while now, and your program sounds very promising and with today's discount, very reasonably priced. Thanks so much for all of your help and advice.

George Henne Keep in mind that this is a development tool. The Push Notification stuff comes from other parties: we don't pretend to be experts in other software.

That being said, AppStudio has an active user community. If you post to the board, you will probably hear from others who have actually done this.

Adam P So both this copy and the upgrade only come with a 4 month subscription to the online tools, then it's $10 / month if we want to keep using your online tools, but the main program keeps working, and minor versions are free for 1 year?

George Henne Yup!
