Thomas Duntze Hello all,
please clarify for PDF Transformer:
Software can be installed anytime (Yes/No) or only TODAY (Yes/No).
Updates within a full version are free (3.01-3.99) (Yes/No)
The fine print and the software receipt are not fully clear on that.
Thanks

Val Pope Hi. Thank you for this giveaway. Can you please make clear what are the differences between this giveaway and ABBYY PDF Transformer 3.0 - 15%Off ?
Have a good day!

Ela S. One of the best programs ever developed by this company is ABBYY Screenshot Reader:

http://www.abbyy.com/screenshot_reader/

It captures screenshots and makes them editable rsp readible with good OCR-capacities.

Essential for all-day-research in the Internet, Google books, Amazon, locked PDFs etc. If you have to do scientific research and to citate tons of text paragraphes, this is a really impressive productivity tool.

I suppose that this PDF Transformer 3.0 does a same good job, but wonder if it will work with locked *.PDF files where the copy and text marking function is locked by the author?

Doug Atkinson I've used ABBYY Transformer and the above mentioned Screenshot Reader for several years. Their OCR engine is very good, and if I didn't have an Adobe license at work, I would certainly be using ABBYY as a more affordable alternative. Transformer is great for converting non-searchable Image based PDFs into searchable PDFs. Remember that no image-to-text (Optical Character Recognition, or OCR) is perfect.

Jeffrey Taylor Here in Los Angeles, its' 5:45 AM, and I've been trying unsuccessfully to complete this download for the last 2 hours. Every time I try, it starts successfully, and then stops with an error explaining that the "connection to the server was reset." This is a "heads-up" that something is wrong, so that you can try to get things working correctly.

ABBYY @Thomas, yes you can install the software at your convenience, it is a full version, not a trial. You will get any 3.x updates issued at no charge.

@Val, there is no difference in the product features or functionality, we are offering a limited time free giveaway promotion with bitsdujour.

@Ely S, thank you for your feedback on Screenshot Reader.

@Doug, thank for sharing your comments and experience with PDF Transformer. Let us know when your current Adobe license expires, we'd love to have you
back.

@kit Kagaya, see response to Thomas' question above.

Louis H Since it is not currently offered at a discount directly through either ABBYY or BDJ, if anyone is interested in Screenshot Reader, Staples and Office Depot are currently offering the download version, via their online sites, for $19.99. Normal cost is $29.99 direct from ABBYY.

I had never used it before. Tired it out this morning after it getting a few positive plugs here. I really like it. I'd prefer getting it direct from ABBYY, tried a coupon code found via Google that didn't work, so I plan on picking up a copy from one of the above sites as soon as I get paid tomorrow.

Thought others might like to know about the discount available.

P.S. BDJ? If I am out of compliance posting this, here, please remove it. Thanks!

P.P.S. ABBYY? Thank you (and y'all at BDJ) for this wonderful Free deal today. And to Doug and Ely, THANK YOU! Your comments have led me to a very nice additional tool for capturing and editing screenshots. :-)

TESS273 I'm thinking of buying ABBYY FintReader. But in your supported languages list, Korean is not. If I purchase this through BJD, does it not support Korean language?

ABBYY @Louis H, thank you for trying and buying Screen Shot Reader and leaving such positive comments for other visitors to this site.

@Tess273, Koren is supported as an OCR language, but is not supported as a UI language in the current version. The current version is FineReader 11; and the product is the same whether you purchase from BJD or ABBYY. Hope this is helpful.

Jim Buchanan I just downloaded ABBYY PDF Transformer 3.0 about 10 minutes ago and have not received a Reg Code as of yet. Is there a problem with this end. I've checked:
my email address - correct
my spam folder - nada
my trash folder - nada
my input folder - still n othing
It has been about 15 minutes. Are they particularly slow or something?

ABBYY @Jim Buchanan, the response to this offer has been tremendous, which may have slowed response time. If you don't receive it in the next few minutes, please repost.

Thanks for downloading PDF Transformer 3.0.

Mike S Have been trying to download the software repeatedly, to no avail--the software download either freezes entirely or just terminates. My assumption is that the servers are being overworked.

Is a direct download link available, please? I received the reg. code--but it's not of much use without the software . . . .

Please help?

Jim Buchanan @ABBYY iAm - This is the repost you asked for. I was away from the computer but just recently checked my email again. Nothing here. Going to bed soon so I will assume that I will not be able to installing it before the deal runs out. Thanks anyways. Seems like a nice program. Maybe next time.

B Josephs This is a really solid piece of software. It has one of the best OCR engines available at this price point (retail) for Hebrew that I'm aware of. I'm pleased to get another license with this offer.
I actually ordered this for a friend at the full retail price just 2 weeks ago - he uses it frequently and is also very impressed with the OCR capabilities of this program.
Thanks ABBYY and BDJ!

Stephen Cohen After I registered and entered the activation code, a message said that the program was good for only 14 days and/or 50 conversions. The activation email I received from Abbyy indicated that I could repeatedly reinstall, using (on the same computer) the same registration and activation code.

DOES THIS REALLY MEAN THAT AFTER 14 DAYS THE PROGRAM WILL STOP WORKING AND I WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH THE LONG RE-INSTALLATION PROCESS AGAIN?

Cary Adams @Watecher1924... Yes OCR in many languages. This tool is simply magical. One of the best PDF to DOC(X) transfers I've experienced. Handles columns and tables well in most all cases, Where it doesn't you have manual tools to help.

I'd love to get Fine Reader Pro... but I'd need to see it at $49. Oh well.

Francis Vandenplas Hi,

I'm having a problem here. Hi Bits du Jour and Abbyy,

I'm having a problem here. Yesterday at 10:14 AM (GMT +2) I received the Bits du Jour mail announcing a 100% rebate on Abbyy PDF Transformer, a program I'm very interested in, since my old, official version will not install on Windows 7 (and 8 of course). A couple of hours later I clicked on "Get the Deal", logged in, clicked "Get it for Free" and was duly acknowledged as "wanting this".

Apparently, in the late evening I got two mails (10:24 an 27 - GMT +2), to "Get the Deal", mails I was not able to read before today, a little after 11 AM (GMT +2), but when I click "Get the Deal", I only get the ubiquitous answer: "Well blast my Bits! There's nothing to Buy! That's all kinds of messed up"...

And, indeed, things seem messed up for me. Usually an announced deal would only become available a few days later, not a few hours and then at night for me, so I would be very grateful to you if you would make that excellent piece of software available to me.

Regards,
Francis Vandenplas

ABBYY @Jim B, refer to most recent email reply posted this morning.

@feral1 and @ Francis Vandenplas, what was the confusion?
ABBYY - Oct 25 2013 at 3:00pm Copy Link

Francis Vandenplas Hi ABBYY,

Thanks for reacting.

By "confusion" I meant the fact that the BitsduJour window that opened after clicking on your deal in the BitsduJour mail, was the one where you click on "I WANT THIS" and get a new window telling that "xxx people and you want this". Then one or usually a few days later, comes a new mail with the button "GET IT FOR FREE" which opens the BitsduJour window asking to log in and then "Continue" to the download window that also announces the mail carrying the registration code.

So I did not expect to receive your mail a few hours later and at that time,as it was about 10:30 PM in my time zone, I was, as usual... watching TV and only opened my PC the next day. Too late for this giveaway. And that's why I asked, as a favor, that you would extend the deal (today, for example, we received a post about "7-Data Photo Recovery [1Year] for PC - Deal Extended for Another Day" and I don't know whether there were any problems with that particular deal). From this comment forum I also learned that, apparently, quite a few people did have problems getting your deal.

Regards,
Francis

Jim Buchanan Well, I'm kind of glad in a wierd sort of way that I am not the only one who has had problems. ABBYY iAm has been in contact with me about it but so far there has been no actual resolution. But then they were having a real busy day when I downloaded the program. The comments seem real good about the program which makes me think that "if I can afford it" then maybe I should shell out the money for the program. Time will tell.

Ela S. Working over the weekend with the free giveaway version, I must say ABBYY PDF Transformer is worth its price. The bundle includes:

- the OCR machine with pretty good results for various languages, creating DOC, PDF, PDF/A and other relevant text files
- the above praised screenshot reader in a latest version
- a pretty fast PDF merger
- a stand-alone PDF creator, enabling PDF creation in various formats and protected versions

There are two points for improvements:

- the windows EXPLORER INTEGRATION does not work in Win 7 64-bit,
- PLEASE a SHORTCUT FUNCTION for the SCREENSHOT READER

Thanks for your generous offer. Hoping to find some other ABBYY products offered on this BDJ site soon :-))
