I just wasted the better part of an hour scouring through my browser's bookmarks, looking for the one website that I just bookmarked last week. Then, after much frustration, it hit me - I wasn't using this computer when I visited that site! The bookmark is safely in my Firefox list of Favorites, only it's the Firefox that's installed on my laptop at home. If only my browser bookmarks were portable. If only I had Portable Bookmark Manager!

Portable Bookmark Manager is a nifty way of making sure you always have access to your favorite websites, even if you work on different computers, and even if you work in different browsers! Just install Portable Bookmark Manager to a mobile storage device, such as a USB flash drive, and plug that device into any machine to instantly synchronize all of your bookmarks.

If you use different computers, say a desktop for home and a laptop at work, you can synchronize your bookmarks between them - no more fruitless searching on the wrong machine! If you find yourself using more than one internet browser, you can use Portable Bookmark Manager to use the same bookmarks in each one! Thanks to complete Unicode support, you'll also be able to save bookmarks, no matter what language they're in.

If you're like a lot of people, you collect a lot of bookmarks as you browse the internet. Portable Bookmark Manager knows this, which is why the program actively scans your saved bookmarks for duplicate items and deletes them to reduce clutter. And, if you want to preserve a measure of privacy, you can always encrypt your Portable Bookmark Manager bookmarks, and protect them with a password!

fran harter Hi,

I like the sounds of the testimonials.

I have a question or two.

I use firefox and Opera as my 2 favorite browsers.
I only use IE if the "IE emulation mode" within Opera doesn't work [some websites still think IE is the only browser on the planet and won't let you access parts of their website unless you are using IE].

Question:

1. will this work with firefox, opera and IE bookmarks?
[I believe each of these 3 applications store their bookmarks a bit differently]

2. Can browsers "import" from this collection of bookmarks within "Portable Bookmarks";
regardless of which browser actually created the bookmark?

Example: I use Opera on computer #1.
I save bookmarks via the Opera browser on computer #1.

I take my USB jumpdrive with my Opera bookmarks, to a friend's computer [computer #2].
My friend's computer only uses IE7.

2a. Can the computer running only IE import my Opera bookmarks?

2b. If my friend saves some of their favorite IE bookmarks to my jumpdrive, could I later import their IE bookmarks into Opera, once I plug the jumpdrive into my own computer
[running opera]?

Thanks in advance.

Andrey Grishaev Hello Fran,

Thank you for your questions.

1. Yes, it will.

2. Browsers can't import bookmarks from Portable Bookmarks' collections. But Portable Bookmarks can export its bookmarks into browsers bookmarks.

2a. Yes, it can. During the export you can specify exactly what you want to export.

2b. See 2a.

John H I have been searching for a link manager that does not store my links on some other company's server. This fits the need.

Am using XP
The trial version only loads the "Default User Links". I could not get it to load my links

I clicked on the online help and it took me to "Link Commander" ver 4.5. The Daily Deal is for "Portable Book Marks ver 2.5.1. The licenses are also different, Single Computer vs. Single User.

Does the Daily Deal entitle me to upgrade to the newer version of "Link Commander" and its more useful license?

Pleas Clarify
Thank You

Ken Spink Xmarks add-on for Mozilla Firefox (formerly called Foxmarks) does the same thing for free, and without a USB thumb drive.
