What are people saying about RoboForm Everywhere

joe schmoe Can this free license be stacked with a paid license? I see the 1 year license is on sale for $9.95. Would that mean I can add the 6 months free to the 1 year paid and get 1 1/2 years for $9.95 ?

TESS273 This is a loss leader. After 6 months, you must purchase a Roboform Everywhere for $19.95 every year. Once you use it, you will always need it. This is useful, convinient, and powerful. :-)

In Roboform homepage, you sell this program at a discount price $9.95 only for 1st year. 6 months later, how much does it cost, $9.95 or $19.95?

Thanks.

Nelson Therrien In a day or two, you'll be able to have it for free 6 months... after that, if you choose to register, you'll probably have it for $19.95 for a year, starting on the date you register (i.e. in 6 months).

I suppose you will also be able to use the free license after, but it is limited to 10 passwords (i.e., if you have more than that, you'll have the choice of removing the ones that you use less or buy the full version).

I REALLY like RoboForm Everywhere, which can be used on as many computers as you want, on a USB key AND on the iPad!

But if you need it on just one or two computer (no USB key or iPad), then you should probably go with the Pro license (and not the Everywhere one) or the RoboForm2Go for a USB key (only)...

For example, on my side I have one desktop, one laptop (with two partitions/OS), a USB key, a portable hard drive and an iPad, so the Everywhere license is really the best for me!

Hope this helps...

Joe M So this program allows one to have all of their passwords available anywhere there is an internet connection (that is good) along with other private information such as bank account and credit card numbers in the cloud for someone to possibly hack the information. (not good).

So what does RoboForm do when their servers get hacked?
How do you protect your customers?
Mar 19 2012 at 12:34pm Copy Link

Nico Westerdale Joe, I can't speak for RoboForm, but I'd imagine that they encrypt all their passwords in their DB, that's pretty standard practice!
BitsDuJour Admin - Mar 19 2012 at 12:37pm Copy Link
0
Siber Systems Nice, that is correct. All of your information is encrypted. Also, you store all of your information and protect it with a master password that only you know (we don't even know your master password so it is important not to forget it). As long as you "password protect" all of your data, it is encrypted and completely secure.

Mar 20 2012 at 9:02am Copy Link
0
Siber Systems Joe, yes you can do that. They are two different licenses. RFE will give you access to your data on multiple computers and devices and RF Desktop will let you have RoboForm on your desktop only. When your RFE license expires in 6 months you will be able to still use your desktop license if you plan to purchase that.

Joe M Will the data that is entered in one program work with the other?

Or will the same data have to be entered in each program?

I like the idea of the Everywhere Now program but I don't like the fact it is cloud based. I think the desktop version would be more secure.

Siber Systems Hi Joe,

Please read the Security section on the RoboForm Everywhere section of our Web site: http://www.roboform.com/e...e/security

The data that is entered in this program will work with RF Desktop as well. RoboForm recognizes your RF data on the computer.

Siber Systems Venkatesh,

This is not a free update to V7, but it is free six months of RoboForm Everywhere Version 7. Basically, you have V6 now, which is the desktop version of our software. We have upgraded since V6 to V7 and also our newest product, RoboForm Everywhere.

With this deal you can try RoboForm Everywhere (use on all of your computers and mobile devices) for free for six months. It will recognize your previous RF data. If you decide that you like RF Everywhere then you will be able to purchase it after or during your free 6 months. If you would like to upgrade solely to the V7 desktop version there is an offer coming this weekend on Bits for V7 Desktop- 50% off, which is discounted even more than a normal upgrade!

Siber Systems Hi Software Guy,

We do not compare our software to other software, but you can take a look at the details of RoboForm Everywhere here- http://www.roboform.com/everywhere. RoboForm is the top rated and most downloaded password manager in the world. RoboForm was developed in 1999 and has been the premier leader in password management and form filling ever since.

Siber Systems Garry,

After 6 months, if you have more than 10 logins you can either print out a list of your logins and discontinue use of RoboForm Everywhere or you can pay for RoboForm Everywhere, RF Desktop, RF MAC, or RF2GO and still have access to these logins.

Louis H $20 a year for headache free maintenance for unlimited (I currently have more than 300) passwords, for ALL of my computers and mobile devices, is absolutely worth it for me.

I highly recommend everyone that has any need for secure management of passwords accept this extended free trial of a service that has become a life saver for me many times.
Mar 21 2012 at 6:16am Copy Link
0
Siber Systems Carlos,

This is a free trial for users wishing to try RFE for six months for free instead of our regular 30 day trial version.

None of those methods that you provided are secure password management solutions and should not be recommended to anyone.

With RoboForm, all user data is encrypted and protected with military-grade security. What happens if someone gets ahold of the pen and paper that you wrote your password on? What happens in your computer crashes or you lose that USB drive? All of your passwords and information are completely GONE! With RoboForm, you never have to worry about losing your data or the protection of your information.

Also, many people use RoboForm for a variety of uses including form filling- which saves millions of users countless hours of needless typing. Users also store important secure information (like credit card information etc.) in their RF safenotes feature.

And most of all, with RoboForm Everywhere you have access to this data anywhere and at anytime- which is why RoboForm Everywhere is essential. Imagine being in Japan and without your home computer, just login to RoboForm Everywhere Online and have access to all of your data. You're on your smartphone sitting on the beach and want to login to all of your favorite Web sites? No problem! With RF Everywhere you can do that!

We also have other products that do not require a yearly fee. RF Desktop, RF MAC, and RF2GO are all one time fees and you can use the license that you purchase for life. So a yearly service, like RoboForm Everywhere, is essential to those who need this type of access to their data anywhere and anytime. We produce a variety of products to fit the needs of all of our users.

Andrew Griffiths Thanks for answer. However, I already have, and like, and intend to renew my subscription for Roboform Everywhere. My main question is whether there's any benefit to having both the Everywhere and the Desktop versions.
Mar 21 2012 at 6:38am Copy Link
0
Siber Systems Hi Andrew,

The only true benefit of having both versions would be that if you no longer wish to use RoboForm Everywhere, then you can always use your desktop version. RoboForm Everywhere is RF Desktop, RF MAC, RF2GO, and Everywhere all rolled in to one, which is why it is a yearly subscription. We give you the benefits of using all of the versions of RoboForm with just one license.

Also, if you do not wish to store any data in the cloud, then you could use the RF Desktop version only. Some people do not need to have access to their data in multiple locations- only on their desktop, which is why they choose RF Desktop version.

Doug Atkinson Roboform is somewhat unique in the use of its browser menu bar. When you go to a website where you have a password stored, it automatically recognizes it. All you have to do is click the menu button, and it logs you in. The first time you do this in the day, you have to enter your master password, but after that it is all automatic. It is great for visiting multiple e-mail accounts, facebook, and the like every day, as you can have complex and different passwords for every site, and not have to type them in every time. You also don't have to search for the site in a "wallet" and then copy and paste.

Unlike programs like KeePass (whch is great, by the way), Roboform types the passwords for you and automatically recognizes websites as you go to them. The downside to this is that you tend to forget your passwords, and become dependent on Roboform! I use both Roboform and Keepass.

I've used Roboform for some time and like it, but every now and then it seems to "reset" on me and I have to re-authenticate to the server, as it seems to think my license has expired when it hasn't. It doesn't lose any of my data, it just takes a few steps to re-activate. Other than this, it has worked well.

As to the yearly fee - this is the cost of the convenience. Programs like a password "wallet" don't have to keep up with browsers and website technology, they just have to securely store your data. Roboform, however, has to keep pace with the various browser updates and website technology to provide a menu bar and recognize pages when you go there. You just have to decide what model will work for you!

Garry Camps i currently have 3 roboform pro desktop and 1 roboborm to go pro (portable license). with theses its possible to save all my logins and identities etc seperately for eg. to a flashdrive and copy them back later if needed and this also gives me the extra added security of knowing i can put them back if needed.

because i am using the desktop version would this still allow me to save my roboform data, or is this no longer possible.

Joe M Lets say there are four people in the household with multiple computers and other devices. Does each person get there own master password to access their special sites, credit and bank accounts, social sites etc?

or

Will only one master password work?
Mar 21 2012 at 8:44am Copy Link
0
Fletch Putting aside my reluctance to embrace the security of the 'cloud' just yet, it seems that one selling point is that this essentially gives you unlimited licenses each year that it's renewed???

I have 3 RoboForm 7 licenses now, desktop variety. If I were using RoboForm Everywhere, I'm guessing that I could install the client on as many machines and devices that I want. True?

Not to mention the apparent automatic sync of the data, eliminating the need to keep RoboForm in sync between machines/devices as I have to do now.
Mar 21 2012 at 9:56am Copy Link
0
Siber Systems Joe, each person should have their own RoboForm Everywhere account and license. The master password is the password that you use to gain access to your RF data, so each person in your house should have their own RF Everywhere account with their own master password.

Siber Systems Ron,

That is correct, you can use RoboForm Everywhere on multiple computers, devices, and USB drives. Ron, yes you could- you would not need multiple licenses like you have now. Automatic sync of data keeps your data in perfect harmony across all devices.

Fletch Answering my own question from my 2nd consecutive post above which is hidden by default and may have been overlooked.

" Your password files (Passcards) will be kept in multiple locations (one copy on each client computer and one on server), so they will become indestructible. "

Siber Systems Ron,

Thank you for your questions. That is correct, if you are using your desktop and RoboForm Everywhere then it is stored local and on the servers. You will always have access and changes should be synced automatically.

If you're still using version 6.10 and you do NOT take advantage of today's offer... My FIRST suggestion would be to upgrade to version 7 for ½ price this weekend !!! If you are not going to do that the very LEAST you should do is download the LATEST version of 6 that you are entitled to ( version v6.10.2 ) from:
http://www.roboform.com/download/v6 .
The direct download link is:
http://www.roboform.com/d...boForm.exe

NOTE:
There is ONE caution that I would offer to anyone upgrading from version 6 to version 7 ( or Everywere ) ONLY if you use any "special characters" in your "Master Password".
NEITHER RF Desktop ver 7 NOR RF-Everywhere will work (allow Access) with any "Master Password" that contains one or more "special characters" !!! Use Alpha-Numeric Characters ONLY in your password. This will NOT be an issue for MOST people, but since (at least with version 7.7.2) the program accepts the CREATION of a password with "special characters" and if you do that you will be "Locked OUT" from your passcards. Then, the only way I know of to unencrypt them is to Uninstall version 7, and install (or RE-install) version 6. If you don't have that installer, see the links I posted above.
As I understand it, the Developers are working on the ability for their Everywhere Server to accept the "special characters" so that they can again offer this superior level of Security to all their customers who wish to use it !!

Fletch For those who currently use RF Desktop or Portable. What might be the best method to test Anywhere without disturbing the existing version?

Can Anywhere be installed in a different folder, leaving RF 6/7 installed? Then I just set it up so the preferred one executes on startup.

OR, do I just need to configure my current RF 7 install to run in Anywhere 'mode'? Options/User Data/Synchronization/Settings then select Anywhere and complete the wizard?

Siber Systems Chris,

Yes we will be having RF Desktop 50% off this weekend, which is only $15.95 for the desktop version- even cheaper than an upgrade from V6. As far as when will we be updating to V8? We don't have immediate plans for that as of right now. With RoboForm Everywhere it is a yearly service so you will not have to worry about any version upgrades, since you pay yearly no matter the version number.

Nigel Blumenthal I'm a long-time RoboForm user, and quite frankly, I couldn't do without it - it's one of my first new installs when I update a computer to a new OS or a new hard drive. Because I use two or three computers, I've bought three licences of the "old" v6 RF, and when v7 came out with its new licencing format, I was somewhat unsure of how it would work. But I'm now totally convinced, and the value of one subscription, whether $9.95 or $19.95, is firstly that you can use it on multiple machines, and secondly, that Sber Systems keeps up with browser changes. Firefox seems to have more updates than I have clean shirts, and there's always a copy of RF to go with it.

I do have one question: I've suggested to two clients that they must use RF, and I told them both about this BDJ offer. However, can you please clarify whether what's on offer here is the limited, 10-passcard version, or a licence for an unlimited number of cards, but only for six months?

Thanks, and best wishes, Nigel

Warren Russell Siber Systems, thanks for the reply. I happened to be at my computer in the middle of the night and was registered within 17 minutes of the first BDJ notice that RoboForm was available. :-)

Others have said this already, but RoboForm is a secure password manager that does most of the work for you, from logging in automatically to filling out long forms. It's well worth $20 a year. Dave, if you have only 10 sites you need to log in to, the free version will work fine. However, in today's day and age, I would guess that's very rare. Every time you reuse the same username and password, you are making yourself more vulnerable. Anyone who gets access to that username and password will have access to not just one of your accounts, but to all of them that use that same login.

Software Guy, I have been using both eWallet and RoboForm for years (except for using LastPass the last couple of years). EWallet is great for secure information STORAGE. I use it for all my software registration information, membership information, drivers license, etc. (I know you can do this with RoboForm, but I've never tried it.) I do NOT use eWallet for login information. Why? Because I don't want to have to look up the login information and type it in every single time, when RoboForm can do that for me automatically. While eWallet will handle login STORAGE, RoboForm does login MANAGEMENT. There's a big difference.

I also just spent a couple of weeks trying out KeePass for the second time. It's a good program, but as far as I've been able to determine, it makes you do a lot of the things that RoboForm automates for you. I always come back to RoboForm and LastPass....

One more thing. Not only will RoboForm allow me to manage hundreds of logins and passwords, it encourages me to use more secure ones. I can use long, complex and meaningless passwords that I would never use if I had to type them in myself. (And RoboForm will create them for me.)

That said, I do have some concerns. Before I became aware of RoboForm Everywhere, I signed up with LastPass (the paid version) to get just the benefits that RF Everywhere will give me. Siber Systems, you say everyone should have their own license. LastPass will allow me to set up a separate identify for my wife (or any other family member) with a different password into my account and specify which information I want her to have access to. Does RoboForm not have anything like this?

I had some trouble today getting sync working, and even though now it seems to be working between my PC at home, my thin client at work, and my Android phone and tablet, I haven't figured out how to use the Android version. It still has a long way to go, and if it hasn't improved significantly by the end of my free 6 months, I'll probably go back to LastPass, which works beautifully on my Android devices.

For now, though, I'm excited about this opportunity. Anyone who has doubts about the value of a system like this is crazy not to at least try it out (it's free) and see how you like it. After 6 months, if you don't think it's worth the cost, you can go back to your notepad. :-)

Thanks, Siber Systems and Bits Du Jour, for this great offer.

Steven Avery Hi,

Just a little note. Presumably RoboForm is fairly safe. One possible mis-impression.

Their encyrption only protects you fully if you have a complex password, which most do not have. Since if your data in encrypted form were hijacked,. it could be broken open by brute force if you have a "simple" password. And simple is what most have.

Please correct me if mistaken. Of course the chance of a RoboForm loss of data is hopefully very small, but more than zero.

Siber Systems Steven,

Yes, you store all of your data in RF and it is encrypted, but you must choose a very secure Master Password. Your Master Password is what gives you access to all of your data. When you start your computer, open your browser and go to your RF toolbar and click on a login, then you will be prompted for your Master Password. It is important to create a unique and secure Master Password so that no one else can guess that Master Password. It is also very important though that you remember this Master Password because we do not even have records of it.

Rodney A. Be aware that although Roboform allows you to export your data, it is not in a form (i.e., it is not a CSV file) that is easily importable into a competing product such as LastPass or Dashlane.

Roboform is very good software, and I have been a user forever (almost 10 years?), but I personally believe it to be a little overpriced, and Siber Systems' seeming unwillingness to create a true export function makes them a little suspect in my eyes. Developers should compete on features and pricing and such, not by making the alternative prohibitively difficult.

Thanks.

Nov 20 2012 at 9:23am Copy Link

Siber Systems Hi @Rodney and @Kiran,

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. Your passwords are always available to you. Our current export function exports everything as a bookmark or an HTML file. You can also use the "Print List" feature. I'll pass along your suggestions to our developers to have an easier export method (such as a CSV file).

Also, as far as your concerns about our pricing, it is up to each person on the value that he or she places on his or her own security. We give our users options, we've never had a security breach, we've been producing our software for over ten years, and we don't place advertisements in our software.

RoboForm users have choices. They can purchase a desktop license, a 2Go license, or an RF Everywhere license. We charge $9.95 for the first year of Everywhere and $19.95 for every year after that. This yearly fee covers all of your computers, USBs, tablets and mobile devices. It also includes the bookmarks feature, which some competitors' yearly pricing does not (it is a separate feature to purchase).

Most of all, some users don't even pay for RoboForm Everywhere, they refer their friends and get months free through our referral program. We also hold giveaways on our social media outlets where users win free years of Everywhere almost on a monthly basis. We also hold promotions for our users and new users as well. For example, by participating in one of our contests or promotions, users often have the option to earn free months of Everywhere.

Thanks,
Michelle

Siber Systems Hi @Kiran,

Thank you for your question. We do not compare our software directly to our competitors, but I will let you know why RoboForm is a great choice as a password manager and why many people choose to use RoboForm.

RoboForm features (Logins, Bookmarks, Safenotes, Password Generator, etc.) are all included in the yearly price of Everywhere. Some password managers have additional fees for these features. RoboForm is compatible with both Windows and Mac, USB drives, and mobile devices and tablets. It also works across multiple browsers. RoboForm's functionality is more accurate and more flexible than others. We offer discounted yearly packages (you can purchase up to five years at once for a great discounted yearly price) and we offer ways for our users to earn free months/years. We never use advertisements in our software.

Your data is available both locally and in the cloud (optionally). So if our servers are slow, you still have access to your data since our data is still available locally and not just in the cloud. Most of all, RoboForm is trusted and used by millions of people around the world. RoboForm has been leading password management for ten years and we have never had a security breach. RoboForm is a password management solution that users trust.

Thanks,
Michelle

I would welcome a chance to get a few years at a discounted rate. It would make me a little less itchy to check out the competition.

David H (Seattle) @Siber,

There is no "Activate Roboform Everywhere", only "Activate Roboform Pro", which is not even listed as a product on your website but implies the Enterprise version, not Everywhere. Perhaps this is a programming oversight from prior versions that still has not been fixed? I tried entering my order ID into "Activate Pro" and it seems to have worked properly, with About reporting it is Everywhere and good for 2 years. Someone might want to search through the website and code to fix all instances where Pro is mentioned, and/or indicate that the paid versions were proviously labeled Pro.

The FAQ should also have or link to instruction for those of us who used Sync with (desktop) v6 but upgraded to Desktop v7, whether we use that abandoned Beta account or create a new ID and account. I don't want to wipe my local master copy of passwords, since the account hasn't been sync'd since upgrading to v7 almost a year ago, but it's not clear if there are any advantages to keeping the old account vs creating a new one. Perhaps activation from Desktop to Everywhere could trigger a wizard or open a FAQ that guides through options for the change: e.g. 1. you have an abandoned v6 beta account, 2. you have an exisiting v7 trial account, 3. you have no account at all; A. you want to keep online account but abandon/wipe what's in it, B. keep online info, C. let me pick individually which version to keep.

I chose to comment here because I suspect there may be others who purchased the deal here as I did, to upgrade a prior installation and try Everywhere for a while.

Users cannot add images to the Identities feature in RoboForm. You can manually add images to forms that you are filling out online though. You can add "Custom" fields in the Identities feature of RoboForm, so that RoboForm will recognize questions on a website that are not in the default categories of the RoboForm Identities section. Users cannot attach files to forms in the RoboForm Identities feature, however you can manually add attachments to forms that are filled out by RoboForm on the web page that you need to attach the form.

Friendly Foxes FYI folks. I have used RoboForm for many years. I love RoboForm. I am using older desktop version. My spouse uses RoboForm everywhere. (Two separate orders). I love RoboForm. Somehow my husband's version is cross linked to mine so if he doesn't pay then mine no longer works. We have totally separate logins. And bought Roboform separately. "Each year after my husband renews Roboform everywhere...I need to go to "help" and "activate" with my name and email." Then mine works again. IF you set a master password...BE sure to document it somewhere you can retrieve it. Be careful in the everywhere version to check do not password protect (if you want) as you add new logins. For some reason HE has top remember to check DO not password protect every time he saves a new login. FTY- There are logins, identities, bookmarks. I love the identities feature. It helps me autofill forms. I have different identities to go with different email addresses or how I answer forms. RoboForm works with some browsers...it may work differently with mobile devices. Check your browser or device to see if it will work for you. I honestly HATE when roboform doesn't work with a browser & miss it...so I tend to use the browsers it works with when I can. I just download a pdf export file to get roboform to work with my ipad..but I only have the desktop version. I am totally hooked on RoboForm. I'm not a power user. But I love roboform. There is a roboform toolbar. I don't remember why but I turned it off with the latest IE upgrade. I think there was something it did or IE did that created problems for me. I could be wrong..I use Roboform with IE and Firefox but not Safari. Good luck.

DroidLuvr It would be really nice if you would offer something to your loyal users as well... I've never received any offer to buy a discounted license :( and I've been using RF Everywhere for several years.

For anyone on the fence, though, I will say I've never been happier with a password/form utility as this one!

Roderick Nicolson As a long time user of RoboForm Everywhere, RoboForm, and RoboForm2Go, I'd say to any potential first time user thinking of buying RoboForm Everywhere that this is a fantastic grab-it-now opportunity.
What a tremendous price for a great product. It's a superb program that allows me to use my large vat of complicated passwords on any computer. One of the few I can truly say has never given me any real problems over the lengthy period I've been using it for.

Disappointed that such a low price is not also on offer to current RoboForm Everywhere users though. Hopefully Siber Systems will not forget there faithful devotees and will have something good hidden up their Siber sleeves for later.

It always works quickly and easily for me, filling in user names and passwords, as well as automatically completing lengthy forms with recurring information. What a time saver!

@Siber Systems - You say: "We have not forgotten about our loyal users and we like to offer discounts often on our Facebook page, so be sure to come 'Like' our page over there."

There are many of us BitsDuJour and RoboForm customers who choose not to utilize Facebook and in fact hate the infantile concept of "liking" companies. Siber Systems @Ron White - Currently there are two Maxthon browsers: Maxthon 3 and Maxthon 4(Cloud).

Maxthon Cloud is a Chrome-based browser.
Commonly Chrome-based browsers allow to add RoboForm extension to enable RoboForm in the browser.
Unfortunately Maxthon Cloud does not provide an option to add RoboForm extension.
Neither it can run in the Retro mode as the mode is only available in older Maxthon.
Clicking RoboForm Show Toolbar will not work properly for Maxthon, either.

But Roboform can work in Maxthon 3 in Trident mode. The default engine the browser uses appears to be WebKit, which RoboForm will not work with.
However, clicking the "Lightning bolt" near the address bar changes to the Trident engine, which RoboForm then automatically attaches to as normal.
Click RoboForm Taskbar Icon in your system tray -> Show Toolbar.

EMitchell Hello. I have had a licensed copy of Roboform Desktop installed on a desktop, and now a laptop, for the last eight years. I now own a Windows tablet that I'd like to sync my passwords to. If I want to install Roboform Everywhere on the tablet, is it required to replace Desktop with Everywhere on the laptop in order for syncing to work? If I choose not to continue with Everywhere after one year, or am no longer using the tablet, I'd like the option of still having use of the non-cloud based option without having to reinstall or download my passwords from the cloud.
Jan 15 2016 at 12:55pm Copy Link
0
Siber Systems @ElleUser - If you install RoboForm Everywhere on your devices, you'll need to install it on each device you'd like to sync. Syncing with the cloud, however, is completely optional. Your data is stored locally on your machine and you can turn syncing to the cloud on and off anytime you'd like by selecting the drop down on your toolbar >> Sync >> Turn off Sync.

If you choose to not renew your RoboForm Everywhere license after a year's time, you will simply need to reactivate the software with your desktop license. Note: Be sure to keep your desktop Order ID for reactivation.

Adam Bridge I am currently using this program and have had it for the last three of four years and up until now it has been a Godsend. Unfortunately many organisations (Google for one) have recently started using different types of log in pages for security reasons - eg you enter your email address and then the page transitions to a new page for your password. Roboform doesn't seem to be able to deal with, recognise or overcome the obstacles created by these types of logins and instead you have to use a manual workaround which is far more frustrating and onerous.

When my renewal date comes up I will reconsider whether to keep using an automated password program like Roboform or whether some other developer has managed to overcome the issues and if so consider purchasing elsewhere.

Siber Systems Hello Adam, re:Google, we are able to handle the form filling part in one Login (ie you don't have to save the username and password separately in RoboForm) but you do have to press Submit twice manually.

However, you are right that there are many two step login pages where we cannot do this. Right now, saving the username and the password separately is the only way to use RoboForm in these cases. This is because many sites (usually banks) actively discourage login automation of any sort, even the benign kind offered by RoboForm.

We do have some features in the pipeline to alleviate this, but we would also welcome site owners' cooperation in being a bit more friendly toward password manager automation.

Rick I started using to RoboForm Desktop after Norton switched to a cloud based identity safe and eliminated the ability to store information locally. Given that I am adamantly against storing my passwords and related confidential information in the cloud; I have been a highly satisfied paid/licensed user of RoboForm Desktop for many years.

However, with version 8, RoboForm desktop is now free and without support and I logically question the longevity of the free product given that subscription based models are much more lucrative for the software industry despite customer needs and preferences towards perpetual licenses.

While I would happily pay for a supported version of RoboForm desktop, as a victim of attempted identity theft on two occasions; with information hacked from the US Department of Education and my global financial institution; I will not use a cloud based password service.

The above noted, I empathize with Mario Demi as I am only interested in a supported version of RoboForm Desktop. In the short-term, I will continue to use version 7 as I evaluate other options with local storage, support and a perpetual license.

Siber Systems @Frederick - We want to thank you for being a loyal RoboForm user and we understand and appreciate your desire to store data locally rather than in the cloud. Regarding your comment concerning customer support, while we do provide email support to both paid and free users, priority support is designated to paid subscribers. With that being said, if it's of interest or value to you, you can certainly purchase a version 8 license and turn off the sync functionality. This will keep your data local while granting you priority support. Lastly, we are highly committed to providing quality software, including free software, as evidenced by our free "desktop" version of RoboForm 8 as well as the removal of the 10 passcard limitation.

Fletch I'm just waiting for the ability to specify which passwords I want stored in the cloud and which ones I only want stored locally. Websites get hacked all the time and encryption has been hacked before. The RoboForm servers with all the golden eggs in one basket are an obvious target. There are just some passwords that I'd never want in the cloud.
Feb 8 2018 at 5:11pm Copy Link
0
Siber Systems @John: yes, you are correct. We will fix the typo.

@Fletch: RoboForm does not require cloud syncing, however this setting is account-wide. For stronger encryption, RoboForm data is in a single file, making piecemeal syncing of individual items quite tricky. However, if you have some data you don't want in the cloud, you can create a separate free account and turn off sync for that one. Switching between accounts is an extra step however in that case.

Lee H The "fine print" states that this promotion cannot be used to extend an existing license.

So the first question is, why not? Why won't offer a deal to your existing customers that have been loyal to you? I've used Roboform for well over a decade. Instead of rewarding our loyalty, seems to me you're throwing us under the bus!

Second question. My current license (3 years) expires in 3 days. If I bought a new 5 year license and did not install it and waited until my current license expires, technically I would not be an "existing" user. What's to prevent me from doing that so I can save a few bucks (I intend to buy a new 5 year license).

Thanks in advance for your response.
Feb 9 2018 at 11:41am Copy Link

Siber Systems @Lee - While we have chosen to make this specific promo available to new users, we very much value our existing users which is why we run various renewal promos in addition to offering loyalty discounts. If you were to allow your existing license to expire, you could certainly purchase a new five year license. Keep in mind, however, in order to be considered a new user, you would need to create a new RoboForm Online account; you could not use your existing credentials. As such, your existing data would not be available in your new five year license.

We'd be happy to offer you a loyalty discount. If you can please email your order ID and request to roboform@roboform.com, we'll gladly extend the discount to your renewal. Thank you.

Lee H Your so called "renewal promo" is $25 more expensive for the 5 year term than what is being offered here. That's what you consider to be "loyalty discounts"?

For our loyalty we get kicked to the curb and have to accept a more expense discount! Yeah, thanks for the recognition for being a loyal customer for over a decade. NOT!

Doesn't matter. I may be upset that you're not offering your existing customers a similar discount but I still like the software, a lot. So I bought a "new" 5 year subscription and will transfer the data myself. It's not hard but you could have made is easier by giving your existing customers the same offer.

In the future you might consider offering your "LOYAL" customers a better deal than what your offering your new ones. I've recommended your software for years but as a reward for my "loyalty" I will no longer offer a recommendation. Unless something changes this will likely be my last subscription.
Feb 9 2018 at 4:12pm Copy Link
0
Siber Systems @Lee - That is incorrect. The loyalty discount is actually an additional 20% off the existing 25% listed on our site. That means a 5 year renewal would come to $59.95. We feel that this is a reasonable discount. If you'd like to renew at this rate, please email us at roboform@roboform.com.
Siber Systems Inc. - Feb 10 2018 at 10:23am Copy Link

Lee H That's NOT the offer I received when I tried to renew my contract. The price I was offered was $74.95.

Even if there additional is another 20% off, the price you're quoting of $59.95 is still MORE than was offered to new subscribers while this deal was offered. WHY would I renew at the higher rate. I bought and upgraded Roboform Desktop versions for many years (last time was in 2013) before Roboform Everywhere was released, I like Roboform Everywhere and I didn't have a plan in place to replace it right away. So I went ahead and purchased the deal that was offered here a couple of days ago. And I will simply create a new account and move forward. But the fact that you continue to resist the idea that your existing customers shouldn't be offered a similar or even a better deal (which MOST software companies do) has left me with a very sour opinion of Siber Systems.

I do not want a new license, I just want to add it to the current license.

RC Charlesn, you have to look at and copy the discount key BEFORE you go to the "current users click here" Then enter the discount key manually. Then fill in all your information, again.

I did all that, and was sure to log into Roboform using my existing account credentials (so I could renew my account), and still ended up with a NEW account.

Siber Systems @SabrinaHome - RoboForm V7 and V8 cannot be installed and used on the same device. This applies to RoboForm2Go V7 as well. If you'd like your existing data to carry over, you would need to upgrade to V8 and discontinue using V7. Please note, however, V8 does not require you to sync to the cloud. It is also available in a desktop/non-syncing version for Free and is referred to as "RoboForm Free." To use RoboForm in the free/local mode only, you'd simply need to turn off the syncing functionality by clicking the RoboForm icon >> Sync >> uncheck "Automatic Sync."

CFGuy Hi- I am an long-time user of "Roboform Desktop", and really like some of the features the "desktop" version offers such as creating a "desktop shortcut" to a particular login. Does "Roboform Everywhere" still allow this feature? Also, can one still use "Roboform Desktop" while at the same time use "Roboform Everywhere"? Also- how does "Roborm Everywhere" do with two-step logins - where the first screen asks for your username and then once you fill this in and click a button, you are taken to a second screen that asks for your password, and then have to click another button to complete the log-in process? Are these type of logins possible with "Everywhere" and how complicated is it to set up (do two seperate logins need to be created and then linked ... )? Thanks. -Cfguy

Or, if you'd prefer, you can create/log in to two separate accounts on two different devices. One account will be connected to your Everywhere subscription and the other would be connected to RoboForm Free (formerly RoboForm Desktop). Regarding multi-step logins, it's quite a simple process. The step-by-step directions can be found here: https://help.roboform.com...tep-Logins

Siber Systems @RC - You can also renew directly from the software by clicking the RoboForm icon >> Help >> Renew RoboForm Everywhere >> enter BDJ50 into the discount code field. Additionally, you can log into your RoboForm Online Account >> click "Licenses" in the upper nav bar >> click the "Renew" button >> enter BDJ50 into the discount code field.

RC Susan, you can follow the process "start the purchase here to renew your existing subscription" and enter the discount code BDJ50, and it will show the discount price, BUT it then states the subscription is for a one year period starting TODAY (not the ending date of your existing subscription). Which is incorrect.

Rather, just go to the Roboform website to renew and enter the discount code BDJ50.. That worked for me. Then after getting my receipt, I entered it in Activation to get my license extended.

CFGuy @Siber Systems - Thanks so much for getting back to me and doing such a thorough job of addressing my pre-sales questions. One additional question for you - and I am not so proud to admit this - the Roboform Desktop version I am currently using does not have a "master password" (which I realize is "risky", however I am basically 100% the only person to ever use my PC). So currently, I do not have to enter a 'master password" before I use any of my Roboform desktop logins. I realize that this type of setup would be most likely impossible with a "cloud-based" password storage (accessible from multiple user devices); so once I would set up a "master password", how often would I have to enter it, in order for me to use my stored Roboform passwords? Just once when Windows (or an iPhone/Pad device) initially starts/re-starts, after a certain period of time "idle" on a device, or (I am hoping not) before using any stored Roboform password/login to a website (which would seem very tedious to me, in my situation)? Additionally, are there "user controls" built into the program that allows a user to adjust program settings for how often the "master password" must be entered, by the user? Thank again for your help and support. -Cfguy

Amit What does roboform have over stickypassword which even offers lifetime license for much discount too, making it a much better one. Any good advantages of roboform over it?

BAW30s I have used Roboform since about 2003 and it is an excellent program. My one caveat for anyone intending to try it is that my favorite browser, Firefox branch Pale Moon, has, like several others, stopped supporting web extensions. This means that to use Roboform with it, I have to copy and paste or drag and drop the data in from my pass cards. I am therefore gradually moving over to my browser's built-in form filler.

Siber Systems Hello @Amit, thanks for asking. We wish we could offer RoboForm for a one time fee but the reality of the ever evolving world of browser extensions and mobile apps is that it's just not a sustainable business model. When last we checked some features we offered that sticky doesn't are Edge support, full secure sharing (including on mobile), Emergency Access, and full web access. We do offer the ability to import from them so probably the easiest way for you to explore would be to just try us out :-)

Siber Systems Hello @CFGuy, as of v8 for security reasons we do now require a Master Password on the account.

To answer your question, all the apps (Windows/Mac/iOS/Android) have very flexible settings under Security dictating how often you are prompted to enter your Master Password.

We could list all the timeout settings here but frankly there are enough options that we are confident you'd find a setting that fits your needs on all the apps:-)

On mobile there's the additional lock/unlock option to replace MP prompt with fingerprint/face/PIN and on Windows we also support fingerprint readers.

Hope this answers your question and let us know if we can assist further!

Wade Townsend Trying to upgrade my Everywhere software for another 3 yrs. Yet when I am taken to the Roboform check out page it specifically states that current users have to click on a link that takes me to a different check out page where the prices are not as discounted as this BDJ offer... Moreover this offer specifically states current users can take advantage of these discounts...

Please advise how I am to proceed and make my discounted purchase.

Thanks.

Doug Hafen Doug I am currently using Roboform desktop free version. If I upgrade to Everywhere will it automatically upload and synch my current passwords or will I have to re-enter them all into the Everywhere program? Can I still use my desktop free version as a separate program?

John Smead I'm having the same problem as others. I already have a RoboForm Everywhere account and want to extend my subscription for another five years. However, when I click the special link during the checkout process I am offered the regular renewal price.

How do I take advantage of this special offer?

FreeLoader I don't see how I can purchase to extend my existing subscription. Is it past the payment screen? I haven't filled in payment info as I fear this will purchase a new account and not extend my existing account.

How to proceed to extend my existing subscription?
