Darren Kindberg I have been using this video converter, got from another site, and it has worked flawlessly! My only gripe is that when the video speed is unknown (I have a lot of MP4 that have to be converted to AVI) each video has a pop-up asking for 25 fps, 29 fps or calculate. After the first 5 prompts it gets tedious and would love to see a "Use this selection for the rest in queue." option.

Will buy this when it becomes available.

1. Load your source videos
2. Select "to General Video" - "to MPEG" in the middle
3. From "Output Image Setting" you can select your preferred PAL/NTSC system.

1. Can see the estimated file size before begin conversion, and it will change immediately when choose another conversion option.
2. Remember default video folder to open, and default source folder after restart the computer
3. Can customize shortcut to plus or minus the selected time (start and finish) to be converted

Constantin Florea @lemonade soda - I assume you are right-clicking the Get It For Free button and try to open the link in another window because you are getting the swirling circle instead of the purchase pop-up. The Get It For Free button wasn't designed to work like that, instead it should just be clicked.

Please notice below our suggestions in case of issues with the Get It For Free button:
- try another browser like IE, Chrome, Firefox or Opera
- run Firefox in Safe Mode
- run IE in Private Mode
- temporarily disable your antivirus, anti-malware, ad-blocker, pop-up blocker software you have installed

Mike McClellan I can't get the Get it for Free button to work. I have tried it in two different browsers, Firefox and Chrome, and I left clicked it, not a right click. I also disabled my antivirus and I do not have a pop blocker. I shouldn't have to totally reconfigure my browser to use your service.

Quill Pen Maybe in trying to solve the blank page problem, a new one has emerged. Clicking the Get It Free button simply causes the spinning circle of dots to whirl. Did it this morning and again tonight. Once again, no way to even try to get the freebie. Of course I AM left clicking. Who right clicks buttons?
Installed Opera and it works, but of course I am completely exposed to EVERY FREAKING COOKIE in the world on that so it's a nonstarter.

Quill Pen Glad to hear you solved your problem, Brenda. We are uber privacy-conscious types who wouldn't use anything made by the google data miners on a bet, and we gave up on IE after their 3 millionth security hole was found. :)) It looks as if Opera worked (got past the spinning circle, and the next page wasn't blank) but as it was only just installed, it's not set up to block all the 3rd party cookies and other malware gimmicks and we just don't have the time to do double-entry bookkeeping to sync all our cookie blockers on two separate browsers. Will wait patiently for Bits and Firefox to play nice together.

- For the giveaway version: You must install/register the software within 7 days, and cannot do so afterwards. For the paid version, you have no registration limit.
- For the giveaway version: Upgrades to future versions of the software will require additional payment. Installing a new version may overwrite the existing version and invalidate your free license key. For the paid version, you have lifetime updates.

Bjondc I had no trouble downloading, installing, & activating the license (which arrived quickly by email) on both desktop & laptop.
My only confusion was that after installation it pointed out that it was the "giveaway" version and I wondered if it was different from regular version other than not being able to upgrade.

Quill Pen Wonderful, so Opera gets through the ridiculous spinning wheel barrier BUT when it almost finishes the download (apparently because the download is a .exe instead of a .zip format) it interrupts the download and aborts!! Says cryptically that a "security setting" is blocking the download. Even happens when I disable my AVG which I should NOT have to do. I encounter no such problems on other giveaway sites. So much for trying a different browser. No way I'm going to Google/Chrome or IE. Two's enough.

UPDATE: Hubby figured out a workaround! Had me copy the URL of the Opera-browser window download page and paste it into a Firefox window. That opened but then it refuses to resend the software saying I already got it even though I didn't because it was blocked. Instead, it offers to resend the receipt to email. Goto email, there it is, and from there a link to download that actually downloads. Can we say that's an inordinate number of hoops to jump through? Yes we can.

PS - Why does the "Email Me Updates?" insist on opting me IN? I rarely visit that email address and always find it cluttered with BITS emails I don't need. That checkmark should never be automatically filled in. It should not be opting people in and forcing them to remember to opt out.

Steven Barnett Tried to convert a movie. The software immediately ends with:

(path)\Europa Report (1080p HD).m4v Abnormal termination, Error Code:1023

I have no idea what a "1023" error is and no clue as to how to find out. The error codes aren't listed in the help file, so I went to the online forum. When I go there, I get a "page cannot be displayed" error (though the sales side of the site seems to work fine).

Sadly, I had to "like" this product before I could use it and find out that it doesn't seem to work. I've tried DVD and MP4 output profiles, but I guess it's the input file format (which is listed as supported) that it is struggling with.

Any suggestions as to how to make this work?

Please disregard, I see my problem. The email I received had the Converter and Ripper programs both highlighted and I downloaded the wrong one.

I was able to register the converter, but my first experience is that it is VERY slow in converting a simple 200mb AVI file.

Back to my standby HD Video Converter Factory Pro which I believe I also got here.

A S Had 5.9.6 (from Sept 2016) already installed and working. Downloaded a Youtube video before upgrading to today's version without problems. Downloaded the new version 5.9.8 today, installed and registered without problems. Attempted to download the same video from Youtube but analyzer just spins and then nothing. Worked under 5.9.6 but not with this latest version.

Just to help with the conversation here, I have the same experience as you with converting a .ts to .mp4. Also using HD Factory PRO which works well and it is about 8-10 times faster, using 350Mb up to 1.2Gb files.
I was going to give it a try here to see if they have improved it but looks like not.
And by the way the downloading seems to be broken from what I read. The old saying: Newer is not necessarily better!! (at least not right away).

1. Choose "Hardware Encoder" to enable multi-core CPUs to simultaneously use QSV and CUDA/NVENC to convert videos with faster speed.
2. Converting under "Use High Quality Engine" or "Deinterlacing" mode takes a little more time than normal if you need to improve your video quality.

Hoon User Yes, v.5.9.9 "Build on May 23 2017".

The "MacX HD Video Converter Pro For Windows" that I got couple days ago is also 5.9.9, "Build on May 31 2017".

Because nobody knows for sure the difference, I have both versions on both my Windows and Mac.
From the interface alone, I see that nVIDIA is not selectable in the MacX version.

RichU The area for "check updates" is set to check every day, and is grayed out, so you cannot change it. Not good, considering that if you update it you lose the license.

Hoon User Yeah, I see that both versions have that (check update everyday) greyed out. In OS X version you can choose to not check for update, but it'll just ignore the setting and check on its own.

d adams I have had several giveaway versions of this program. I like it and upgrade every time it is offered. With other programs I convert a full screen video but the conversion is usually not full screen. I modify the settings and try again with the same result. Win X has always given me full screen conversions.

On the downside when a new version is released every time you open the program you will get a nag screen prompting you to upgrade. You can close this nag screen with a mouse click but it does become annoying.

1. Please install the installer and open the software;
2. please kindly fill in a valid email address and input the license code provided in the receipt email in the registration window.
3. After doing that, click "Activate" to finish registration.

Please notice that there should be no space before and after the license key, or it will not work. (We've checked once again that the license code works to activate the program successfully.)

Doug Atkinson Program works pretty well and has handled most of the conversions that I've passed to it. I ended up purchasing a Lifetime License. Digiarty products are a little irritating in that even if it is a paid version and up to date, it still "checks for updates" and pops open a window with some current offer on their software that you need to close to proceed. Other than that, I've been happy with all their products; using MediaTrans, Converter, and their DVD Ripper the most.

David @ d adams: Regarding stopping software from connecting to the internet and checking for updates, etc., I highly recommend simply installing the free version of "Windows 10 Firewall Control". It will automatically block all new third party connections and then a popup window will appear asking if you want to block or allow the software from connecting to the internet. Once you select Disable All, that software will never be able to check for updates, let alone phone home, unless you choose to change that setting.
