An application which provides two axes: X and Y, a canvas on which you can add as many points as you want and various functionalities which you can apply to those points, functionalities such as: adding, moving, removing, editing their coordinates, exporting the coordinates and a few others operations. That's the simplest way to describe this xyPoint System application. It provides the X axis and the Y axis and it is up to you to add the points on the canvas delimited by the two X and Y axes. To add a new point you can simply click on the canvas.

The xyPoint System application allows adding points on the canvas using three scales: 'Simple' scale, 'Log' scale and 'Measurement Unit' scale. The points can be added, moved and removed. The application also allows to edit how the coordinates of the points are seen, allows for exporting the point coordinates in a free-form using the built-in parameters as well as your own text and several other operations. You can add any number of points you can add to the canvas.

Here is a more extensive view on the features the xyPoint System application provides:
  • - plotting points on the canvas when you click anywhere inside the canvas (inside the white area)
  • - edit the way in which the coordinates of the points are shown on the screen. There are built-in parameters which you can use for this but you can also use your own text. Here is an example of the parameters you can use for this: CUSTOMCOORD.X{0:E}, CUSTOMCOORD.Y{0:E}, COORD.X, COORD.Y, COORD.VALX, COORD.VALY (but there are many others besides these).
  • - delete the points or move the existing points anywhere on the canvas either by selecting the points or by using the associated controller of each point (the controller can be either a rectangle or circle or a triangle)
  • - there are three types of scales you can choose from for each of the two axes: they are "Simple" scale, "Log" scale and "Measurement Unit" scale (so these can be selected separately for either of the two axes: X, Y). The application also allows defining your own custom measurement units which you can then use with the "Measurement Unit" scale
  • - you can use your own words (and phrases) to export all points coordinates but you can also use the built-in parameters. Thus you can easily construct your own custom export formats and even save them in a file to use them in the future.
  • - drag the canvas by grabbing it from anywhere (you can disable dragging by making sure the "Dragging Form Enabled" check box is un-checked)
  • - create a screenshot of the entire window of the application
  • - change the opacity of the canvas window where the points can be added. That way depending on the level of the opacity of the canvas, it may look like the points are added directly on the screen.
  • - use the built-in magnifier
  • - show or hide the grid (vertical and horizontal lines) on the canvas

Vipin User I am sorry, but what is the use of this software? Creating Cartesian Points in the 2-D plane, and then what?

Constantin Florea @Vipin User, This application was the first implementation of such a Cartesian System you are referring to, but what it brings as a special feature is that it has a Log scale in which points can be plotted. The points can then be exported in a free form (by adding your own words to the export format). There is also the option to bring the opacity of the canvas to a low level so that you can overlay the canvas over any of your other windows.

A second more extensive implementation of the idea was done in Points On A Canvas:
https://www.bitsdujour.co...n-a-canvas
which does not feature the Log scale but has many more features, including features related to measuring distances.

Many of our customers purchased both products.

Gary User can this program import a list of values to plot?
Apr 24 at 4:25am Copy Link

Constantin Florea @Gary User, Yes xyPoint System can do that. It can import and export points you add on the canvas.

If you have your own points (from external sources), the points should be separated by a comma character like in the following example:
147,588
349,496
662,499
789,602
835,354
640,244
402,236

The xyPoint System app exports the points from the canvas into a text file using the simple x,y format for each line.

Also, if you click on the images shown at the left of the promotion page description you will see that on the third picture there is an "Import Points" and "Export Points" sub menu options in the contextual menu which opens up when you right click anywhere on the canvas.

We also have another somewhat similar application to xyPoint System and that other app is called Points On A Canvas and you can find it here:
https://www.bitsdujour.co...n-a-canvas

The reason I am mentioning Points On A Canvas is because it also has an Export Canvas and Import Canvas functionality. This functionality of importing/exporting the canvas in Points On A Canvas works with XML files so the export is done on a structured (XML) file in this case.

Constantin Florea @Bxxxx Oxxxx, To activate the program please right click the main canvas anywhere and choose the "Show Control Panel" menu option from the contextual menu. That will open a window which contains a link called "Register". Please click that "Register" link and in the registration window which will show up please enter your registration code into that big text box and then click on the Activate button.

Constantin Florea @William Henry, We do have a program called "Points On A Canvas" here:
https://www.bitsdujour.co...n-a-canvas
which can do what you have mentioned.

Specifically you add the two points on the canvas of "Points On A Canvas" application and then you can switch the measurement unit from "pixels" to "inches". That way you can see how many pixels are between the two points and how many inches are between the two points. The "Points On A Canvas" application has many more features focused on the points you can add on the canvas.

The xyPoint System program does not show lines between the points, so it does not show the distances between those points.
