I think ABBY Finereader 10 Professional is a super OCR, if only they reduce the price or maybe Bits du Jour have it here : ) on any offers

I have an older version of FineReader, and it *is* a super OCR. I, too, would like to see it featured on BDJ!

Agreeing...

FineReader was my first Text-Reader-Program, that really worked. And since than, I only changed the versions, but not the program. Now using v6... So v10 for a good price would be really a consideration...

O I I purchased FineReader Pro v9 in October, 2009 with a free upgrade to v10 when it appears. However, ABBY released v10 in the middle of October 2009 and up until now they didn't send any key for v10 to me. I wrote them twice and they told me that I will receive my key, "v10 has just been launched" they told me in November. I need v10 instead of v9, because it supports Windows 7 which I use since October 25, 2009. Today is December 8 and I still can't use what I paid for.

How long it takes for a key to be send by email? You decide if you want to pay to that company. I look for alternatives.

I'd love to see an ABBYY finereader OCR discount offer via Bitsdujour.

ABBYY finereader is the most accurate OCR s/w I have found and use.

I used almost every other program out there:
-omnipage
-readiris
-paperport
-etc

By far, abbyy was the most accurate.

I received a full version of abbyy finereader pro 5.0 on one of those PC magazines from the UK, a few years ago. (A CD was glued/taped to the magazine cover).

I forget whether it was:

-PC PRO
-PC ADVISOR
-PC PLUS

But it was the best $15.99 USD I ever spent on a magazine/software

ABBYY has a decent upgrade policy; any competitor's OCR program qualifies you to upgrade at 50% off.

However, it would be great to at least "get your foot in the door" with a discount from a site like Bitsdujour.
